Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 753: Chapter 752: Kaidou in the Atmosphere

”It’s not scientific, foster father, it’s not scientific. Father should see a doctor for his mind.”

”What’s wrong?”

”Don’t you think Father’s actions are unusual? Normally, he shouldn’t be doing this.”

When she heard Kaidou say that, she felt a chill inside. Based on Kaidou’s usual behavior, he would probably throw her down and then give others exaggerated rewards, indicating that they should either fight her or spar with him.

Under such coercion and temptation, she would undoubtedly face a new kind of torment. There weren’t many High-Level Officials present; Setsuna and Mandfeish could unleash Disaster Level power, but their ranks were already high, so Kaidou’s threats wouldn’t affect them.

As for Queen, he couldn’t do anything too impactful in this environment. However, this large group of ability users was enough to mess with her. Yet this time, Kaidou went against the grain and not only didn’t torture her, he also jumped down himself.”

”Over the years, when has your father’s mind ever been normal? Would a normal person get drunk at a Navy Branch and then sleep directly in the Navy Base?”

”Eh? Did he do such things? How come I didn’t know?”

”It was a long time ago, probably near Shampodi. Anyway, it was before entering the New World, and you weren’t born yet. Excluding that, the things you know should be enough to explain everything.”

”That’s true, but I still feel something’s wrong. He must have a plot.”

Yamato knew very well that Kaidou’s way of thinking was different from normal people. She wasn’t surprised Kaidou would do things like getting drunk in the Navy Base or going down to pick fights on his own.

Itching for a fight, nothing better to do, these non-reasons were good enough. What puzzled her was why Kaidou hadn’t put any strange pressure on her.

In just a few minutes, she had already come up with dozens of things Kaidou might do, but she couldn’t pin down what he was truly thinking. In this regard, he always managed to be unpredictable.

”By the way, foster father, was your previous adventure interesting?”

”It was alright, I guess. Many of the current veterans came from that time. Mandfeish, Babanuki, the young Setsuna, and Olga and Elizabeth from the Sea King Type... Weren’t you not interested? Why ask now?”

”It’s not that I wasn’t interested, just that knowing in advance makes it less fun. The Sea is so vast, I want to explore those mysterious places myself.”

Exploration was one of the themes of her life. Unless tasked with a specific mission, she wouldn’t look at detailed information about islands but would explore them herself. The countless independent islands have created numerous natural terrains and cultures.

This mystery attracted those orthodox adventurers, and Yamato was one of them.

”But I think Father is acting very suspiciously this time, so I wanted to analyze his past habits. Maybe I can uncover his plot.”

”That’s quite a story; I’ll tell you in detail later.”

While Yamato was discussing the past, the battle below had already begun. Under Kaidou’s threats and temptations, taking advantage of the remaining terrain, he started a new round of brawling.

He made an empty promise and felt entirely confident doing so, not worried at all that anyone’s wish would exceed his power.

Because he was confident that no one could defeat him, as long as the conditions weren’t met, then naturally, he wouldn’t have to deliver the reward.

Moreover, Arceus added an extra condition.

”The time is until the Stone Pillar falls back to the ground! Once the island returns to normal, this event is over!”

The ”raffle event” had to have a time limit; otherwise, if Kaidou got carried away, who knows how long it would drag on.

As for the matters Yamato worried about, they weren’t unfounded; she was just thinking in the wrong direction.

This time, Kaidou didn’t plan on training her physically. Such a level of battle was meaningless for her; to encourage further breakthrough, at least Disaster Level officials needed to show their real abilities.

Also, he noticed that Yamato was always wary of him and often thought up countermeasures. Since she liked thinking, he let her think more.

Kaidou deliberately behaved in a way that seemed abnormal to Yamato, but in reality, he planned to do nothing.

Compared to a slap that has already landed, a hand suspended in the air can create more tension. As long as Kaidou did nothing, he could keep Yamato in a state of tension, achieving a different level of training.

Before she realizes the essence of what was happening, her mind would unlikely relax.

As for Kaidou himself, he had already extended the activity’s reach across the entire island. Not just the Numberer, but anyone who set foot on this island could participate in the attempt to defeat him.

During this, he enjoyed the fun of battle while also scrutinizing these underlings.

There’s only one reward, meaning the final person to defeat him gets the prize.

There’s no pm to distribute the spoils here. Anyone trying to snag the last bit of the boss’s health must be wary of companions; when he intentionally showed some weaknesses, sure enough, some dragged their companions down.

This is a side of negative human thinking: if I can’t have it, neither can you. In Kaidou’s mind, such people fell several ranks lower.

He’s not opposed to in-fighting, even supporting it. After all, Kaidou believes that the strength determines value. If one is strong enough, they have the right to own more resources.

But the premise is to deal with enemies first. If they’ve already defeated him, it’s acceptable, but to be unable to even discern the strength of the enemy, that’s where it ends. Such people have no growth potential.

The High-Level Officials have been established, and most of the new generation has matured. Kaidou was now filtering suitable grassroots officials, but in the eyes of outsiders, Kaidou’s situation seemed very unusual.

Since the island was elevated by Arceus, monitoring vessels couldn’t track detailed activities. Although the Navy had some Dragons for aerial surveillance due to their high costs, Sengoku equipped a few branches in the New World with Dragons.

After being equipped, they realized how convenient aerial reconnaissance was. However, these monitoring vessels weren’t equipped with the expensive Dragons, and losing a few battleships’ worth of expenses is unacceptable.

Therefore, the Navy was demanding that Vegapunk create some smaller, more affordable ordinary creatures to equip ships for daily reconnaissance activities.

”This is Navy Surveillance Ship 178, latest intelligence: there seems to be unrest in the Hundred Beasts Pirate Group, with Kaidou fighting with his subordinates.”

Of course, this kind of intel would only lead Headquarters to update its records on the pirate group’s makeup, not prompt any large-scale operations.
