Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 758: Chapter 757: A Father’s Bittersweet Love

”Did all the invited guests respond?”

”Yes, they all said they would attend the engagement ceremony on time, but the Hundred Beasts Pirates haven’t replied yet.”

”They will come. By the way, were my requests made clear?”

”Yes, we specifically invited the Zeraora couple to participate in this engagement ceremony.”

”Ma ma~ Ma ma~ That’s good. It’s a pity, you could have had a few more siblings.”

Mentioning Zeraora, Charlotte Linlin seemed somewhat nostalgic. If it weren’t for his special status, she would have snatched him away back then, given the strength Zeraora has shown over the years.

If he had chosen to join with her back then, the children they produced wouldn’t have been weaker than Katakuri.

As for the current invitation, it doesn’t mean much in particular. Charlotte Linlin’s personality is quite changeable, sometimes extremely violent, and sometimes as innocent as a child. In her eyes, Zeraora could be considered a ”friend.”

Moreover, they are part of the Fur Race, which isn’t numerous in Tottland. She hopes more of the Fur Race will settle here.

”It’s a pity Kaidou completely disagrees with a marriage alliance, otherwise we would already be the strongest pirate crew.”

Thinking of this, Charlotte Linlin suddenly felt a bit angry. Besides looking for a husband for herself, she also arranges marriages for her children, where their husbands or wives have status.

Yamato’s rise was noticed by Charlotte Linlin. Of course, she hoped one of her sons could marry Kaidou’s daughter. However, when she brought up the topic, it was immediately met with Kaidou’s ridicule.

Inviting the Hundred Beasts also has her own thinking. On one hand, it’s to show her power; the status and level of the guests also reflect the host family’s status.

As a pirate, she cannot invite the Navy to attend the ceremony, only people from the Underworld. In today’s Underworld, the Hundred Beasts are the biggest presence.

On the other hand, it seems she wants to show this little brother that even if he doesn’t agree to a marriage alliance, she can find a better match.

”Prepare everything, and if accidents happen....”

Charlotte Linlin didn’t say anything else, only her gaze swept over Katakuri and Perospero. Even they felt a kind of chill.

”Don’t worry, Mom, we will make sure everything is handled well.”

For any Sea Emperor, maintaining face is of utmost importance, losing face is a massive issue for them.

On Cake Island, the venue had already started being arranged, and crew members were collecting the year’s food supplies from various regions.

Although fond of tea parties, Charlotte Linlin isn’t crazy enough to host them every day. She understands the total amount of food that can be submitted from the islands within her territory is limited, so the number of events held each year is also limited.

If she held unlimited events, the territory would have long been deserted. Still, some islands are often punished for failing to provide food.

While Charlotte Linlin was busy organizing the engagement ceremony, the Hundred Beasts also received the invitation.

”Ugh ha ha ha, marrying into the Giant Race? That old lady indeed has done an incredible thing.”

Looking at the invitation’s content, Kaidou wasn’t sure what to think, then went straight to the Sky Island above, looking for Saul, who was farming. Having a Giant Race member here, he should know something special.

”Elbaf and BIG MOM??”

Upon hearing the news, Saul also showed an incredulous look. The Sea harbors more than one Giant Country, but among them, Elbaf is undoubtedly the strongest, and other Giant Countries follow Elbaf’s lead.

Yarl’s death is a thorn in the hearts of the Giant Race, and Charlotte Linlin is an enemy to them, including Saul.

”Ah, this is an invitation. Does this Loki hold a high position in Elbaf?”

A prince is a prince, but not necessarily with high authority. A prince without real power might fare worse than an ordinary noble.

”Prince Loki... it’s not surprising, the King dotes on him, but who knew to this extent.”

”It seems this matter is true. Ugh ha ha ha, this Sea is indeed becoming more and more interesting.”

He came here just to verify whether Charlotte Linlin was bluffing, not considering Saul’s opinion otherwise.

...

”Zeraora and Setsuna? Did she specifically want them to come?”

”That old lady likely has many ideas about the Fur Race too, but at this time, she will still be principled, or at least with me, she will show some principle.”

Saul didn’t have the right to suggest, but Arceus did, especially since among the invited guests was his ”legitimate eldest son.”

Kaidou never fully trusted Charlotte Linlin. Even if it was a marriage alliance, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t stab in the back. The original Germa 66 is an example.

However, the Hundred Beasts is different; the principles among pirates are based on strength. Charlotte Linlin, even with thoughts about the Fur Race, wouldn’t act this way at this time, especially since her territory already has a few of them.

In this respect, she’s more like a collector, not caring about the quantity as long as there are some.

”You mean to let them attend normally?”

”Of course. Although there is some friction, it’s not yet to the point of falling out. As for who to send as the leader, I plan to let Yamato go.”

He personally cannot attend Charlotte Linlin’s event now, since it’s no longer a situation from over ten years ago when he wasn’t well-known. If two Sea Emperors meet, the Navy’s nerves might explode.

However, listening to Kaidou’s arrangement, Arceus felt something was off. Yamato’s status wasn’t a problem; though a bit overvalued, as the big sister on Kaidou’s ship back then, showing some face was reasonable.

But having Yamato attend such an event....

”Hey, you wouldn’t be planning to have Yamato cause trouble and mess up the event, would you?”

”How could that be? Do you think Yamato has that ability?”

”...”

Though cruel, it was a fact. Activities that required brute force were fine for Yamato, but unless it was a direct confrontation, she really wasn’t suited for it.

”Just let her gain some experience. This event will have those old schemers from the Underworld attending, it’s a good chance for her to understand how she’s supposed to take over the pirate crew in the future.”

If it were in the past, Kaidou might really have thought of causing trouble, thinking why should the other side have what he doesn’t. But now it’s different; to Kaidou, those giants were far inferior to the Dynamaxed Machamp.
