Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 763: Chapter 762: Different Mothers

Charlotte Linlin’s good mood evaporated completely. Without even saying any polite words, she left directly. Katakuri also took people outside to make a show of things, leaving the matter to Perospero.

As the eldest son of the BIG MOM Pirates, he was accustomed to handling situations like these. After all, Charlotte Linlin’s moods were unpredictable, and she never considered the occasion. The fact that she didn’t behave even more outrageously this time was already a decent outcome.

”Um... everyone, we had a small incident today. I ask that you don’t spread the word; otherwise, if Mama gets angry, it won’t be pleasant for anyone.”

He briefly mentioned the incident, but in reality, no one wanted to broadcast it. Even Morgans felt the same way. It wasn’t out of fear; it was because the incident didn’t have much heat.

The risk and reward had to balance out, and even he wouldn’t take a huge risk for very little return.

The runaway bride incident didn’t just slap Charlotte Linlin in the face; Elbaf was also affected. Over-publicizing this matter would mean offending both a powerful pirate crew and the world’s strongest country.

”The celebration won’t end just yet. You can all rest for a bit, and we’ll arrange for your departures later.”

In such circumstances, the engagement ceremony seemed to have taken a turn. Now, the pirate crew most closely tied to the Underworld were the Hundred Beasts and BIG MOM. With Charlotte Linlin’s departure, Yamato, as the young master of the Hundred Beasts, attracted a lot of attention.

If they could get some promises from her, it would undoubtedly be excellent for future business. And according to rumors, Kaidou’s daughter seemed easier to fool, at least not as troublesome as her father.

But at the first step, they hit a wall. Casual chat was fine, but as soon as they touched on business, the only thing they received was a string of numbers.

She’s quite self-aware in this area, especially after that time without logistical support; she understood all the more how important the Hundred Beasts’ purse was.

Moreover, Arceus’s teachings to her in this regard were quite special. He knew Yamato wasn’t skilled in this field; in fact, neither he nor Kaidou were. But it didn’t matter because they were strong enough.

Tesoro, Kojiro—these were all professionals. Letting professionals handle professional matters was sufficient.

The Hundred Beasts were now a vast enterprise. Even if Yamato had evolved into a spendthrift, as long as she didn’t meddle in internal business or make some bizarre decisions, it wouldn’t be possible to squander all these assets. She hadn’t developed any bad habits; her thinking just differed a bit from the norm.

This was also the habit of many large powers: lack of ability wasn’t scary; what’s terrifying is someone with no ability holding high authority and causing chaos, leading to the gradual collapse of a normally functioning institution.

The engagement ceremony ultimately turned into a joke, but Yamato and the others didn’t care. Given Charlotte Linlin’s mentality, this matter wouldn’t be let go of easily, but once she’d cooled down, she wouldn’t keep harping on about it.

The only ones possibly displeased were Miaona and Wolf. Due to the drastic change in the engagement ceremony, their travel itinerary was significantly shortened.

However, as they were leaving, Pekoms delivered some shocking news during their farewell.

”Duke, Mama has something she wants me to convey to you...”

Even knowing Yamato was the leader of the group, he chose to deliver the message to Setsuna, influenced by his Fur Race identity.

”Hmm? Just say what you need to, why are you hesitating?”

”Yes, what Mama means is... if the Hundred Beasts ever encounter Lola, she hopes you’ll bring her back, or preferably send her corpse back. She’ll appreciate it... Those are Mama’s exact words.

Of course, it would be best if you acted like you never heard this.”

Charlotte Linlin’s children had varying personalities, seemingly inheriting different sides of her: Katakuri’s calmness, Perospero’s ambition, and some children’s violent and twisted traits, while Chiffon and Lola were kind to others.

Pekoms didn’t mind them; it was just that he had to carry out BIG MOM’s orders.

”Alright, I got it. Take some time to visit Zou; your parents are quite concerned about you.”

”Yes.”

”Also, here’s a little insight on the Moon Lion state. It’s something everyone has compiled. You should work on overcoming the issue of not being able to control that state.”

”Yes, Duke. I wish you a safe journey.”

.....

The Pokemon Ship left the Tottland Sea Region, and Miaona seemed shocked by Charlotte Linlin’s words.

During the recent conversation, Pekoms hadn’t avoided her and Wolf. She couldn’t believe that a mother would actually want to kill her own daughter. Charlotte Linlin previously seemed so ”kind.”

”What’s wrong? What are you thinking about?”

”Mom, you wouldn’t do something so terrifying like that tall aunt, would you?”

Miaona seemed to have imagined some horrifying scenarios. After all, if disobedience meant getting killed... that would be quite a terrifying future.

Even Wolf, who hadn’t taken it seriously, looked over, and then they received an unusual answer.

”Pff... what are you thinking? If I really did that, you two little brats would’ve been dead hundreds of times by now!”

The siblings exchanged glances. Although the answer was direct, it made them intuitively understand that such things were impossible, and they instantly returned to their usual selves, researching various things on the ship.

”Zeraora, do you think... I should’ve used that recent chance to scare them a bit?”

Setsuna realized a bit late that she might have missed a chance to educate the kids, a chance that might have cured them of their mischievous behavior.

”Let it go, that could leave a scar. Relationships within the BIG MOM Pirates aren’t as friendly as they appear. Growing up like this isn’t too bad; you went through it similarly back then.”

”Nonsense! I was nothing like those two! Must be your genes they inherited!”

”Alright, if you say so.”

...

The crew was on their way back to Ghost Island, while on Ghost Island, someone was looking for an opportunity to prove themselves. After the changeover battle, Mandfeish and others had already left Wano Kuni, and Jack, Iscariot, and others were out on missions.

But Who’s-Who remained there, observing the pirate crew he’d long joined.

He was entirely unconvinced about losing to Sasaki and almost being defeated by Iscariot. If not for Arceus’s terrifying power, the gap between them shouldn’t have been like this.

It’s really challenging to accumulate merits through ordinary missions, especially now that the era has changed.
