The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

minutes later, the personnel at the scene divided into two groups.

One group returned to the crime scene for investigation.

The other group immediately headed to the forensic autopsy center.

At this moment, two young forensic doctors placed the body on autopsy table number 2.

Director Hou, Mr. Chen, and Jiang An came to the forensic autopsy room together.

Examining a murder victim’s body is of utmost importance, requiring meticulous attention.

Once, Jiang An used a magnifying glass to find sand under the nails of a body found in the water, quickly breaking through the mystery of the unidentified corpse’s identity, pinpointing the primary death scene.

Jiang An also regarded the body before him with great importance.

Compared to the other female corpse, this body had been in contact with the killer for a longer time.

At this moment, the two young forensic doctors collaborated, taking photographs of the body’s surface and then measuring and recording gnawing injuries on the deceased’s skin.

During the recording, they particularly listened to Jiang An’s analysis of the damage.

The damage to the female corpse’s earlobe was caused by aquatic animals gnawing.

However, the injuries on the deceased’s chest and genital area were formed by human teeth bites.

minutes later, the two began cutting open the abdomen with a knife.

The young forensic doctor examined while dictating, ”No obvious bleeding was found under the skin of the deceased’s neck, and no fractures were observed in the hyoid bone.”

”There is significant bleeding inside the oral cavity, likely caused by soft objects covering the mouth and nose, leading to suffocation and death.”

Then he opened the chest cavity, dissected the lungs, both of which were noticeably dark red, with visible bleeding spots in localized areas.

He signaled the photographer nearby to capture these characteristic signs.

Next, he picked up the deceased’s heart for observation, saying, ”The deceased’s heart appears to have bleeding spots, this should also be a sign of suffocation, right?”

As he spoke, he felt somewhat unsure, deliberately raising his head to look at Jiang An.

Jiang An nodded, ”The punctate hemorrhages in the left ventricular apex and auricle regions are characteristic signs of mechanical asphyxiation, caused by the capillary dilation leading to exudative bleeding.”

Upon hearing Jiang An’s professional explanation, both Mr. Chen and Director Hou raised their thumbs in approval.

He not only provided a judgment but explained the underlying mechanism clearly.

Director Hou remarked, ”Mr. Jiang, I didn’t expect your professional skills to remain so strong even after taking on a leadership role. Truly admirable!”

Jiang An turned and smiled, ”Being a forensic doctor is my foundation, and at any time, I am first a forensic doctor, then a criminal investigation captain.”

”Well said!”

Subsequently, the two young forensic doctors continued with the examination of the body.

When inspecting the deceased’s uterus, Jiang An instructed, ”Perform a total hysterectomy and extract it.”

The young forensic doctor asked, ”Uterus removal?”

Jiang An replied, ”I want to examine the condition inside the uterus.”

Immediately, the young forensic doctor lifted the uterus with one hand and used scissors with the other to remove it.

After extracting the uterus, Jiang An said, ”Cut a cross-section and see if there are any special findings.”

Subsequently, the young forensic doctor proceeded to cut open the cross-section of the uterus.

As soon as he opened it, he immediately exclaimed, ”Ah, there’s still some blood inside the uterus.”

Jiang An commented, ”This should be menstrual blood.”

The young forensic doctor said, ”Menstrual blood? He died during his period!”

Afterward, he spread open the deceased’s legs for examination.

Jiang An asked, ”Is there any mucosal damage?”

The young forensic doctor replied, ”No mucosal damage.”

”In this case, is it possible to extract male components?”

Jiang An directed, ”Extract in sections, separately extract from the front, middle, and back sections of the vagina and uterine mucosa.”

”If there was a male assault, the traces would be minimal, but current examination technology can detect slight responses.”

Soon, the young technician quickly picked up a cotton swab, following Jiang An’s instructions to extract, secure, and place it into the evidence bag.

After completing this, Mr. Chen suddenly asked, ”Mr. Jiang, if the perpetrator used protective measures during the assault, won’t we be unable to detect anything?”

Jiang An nodded, ”Mr. Chen, you don’t need to worry about that.”

”If the perpetrator employed protective measures, we can use physico-chemical methods to detect the chemical components of the protective measures.”

”This can also corroborate our judgment.”

Mr. Chen gave a thumbs up and commented, ”Impressive! I never imagined science and technology would have advanced to such a level now.”

He turned to look at the two young forensic doctors, ”It seems, indeed, our Guangling Criminal Investigation techniques are somewhat outdated.”

At this point, a young forensic doctor beside him spoke, ”Mr. Chen, these advanced techniques don’t solely rely on humans, but need equipment.”

”Those examination instruments can easily cost tens of thousands, and the expensive ones can run into the millions.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Chen’s relaxed expression froze.

He hurriedly said, ”Oh dear, that’s so much money.”

”Next time we encounter such a difficult case, we should contact Captain Jiang and send it to Jiangcheng for their assistance.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An nodded, ”Help from a brotherly unit is of no concern.”

Soon, the two young forensic doctors completed the internal organ examination of the body.

However, as they were packing up their tools and preparing to conclude, Jiang An suddenly said, ”Open the back of the body from top to bottom.”

Upon hearing this, the two young forensic doctors were taken aback.

According to standard forensic dissection protocols, the back is never dissected.

In forensic science, there are two dissection methods.

One is a straight vertical dissection, and the other is T-shaped dissection.

Regardless of whether it’s a vertical dissection or T-shaped dissection, the incisions are made on the front side of the deceased.

Why suddenly dissect the back of the deceased?

Even though he held the knife in his hand, the young forensic doctor remained very puzzled.

He asked, ”Captain Jiang, by dissecting the back, mainly looking for what?”

”Otherwise, I won’t know what to focus on later.”

Jiang An nodded, ”Your question is very good.”

”As forensic doctors, we must dissect with purpose, not dissect for the sake of dissecting.”

”The reason I asked you to open the back is to check if there’s any bleeding in the scapula of the deceased.”

”Scapula?”

”Does bleeding in the scapula have any significance?”

Jiang An answered, ”This directly relates to an important judgment factor in our case analysis.”

Upon hearing this, the two young forensic doctors were even more puzzled, ”What important issue does this relate to?”

”The number of perpetrators!” Jiang An replied, ”Generally, when a person is suffocated by covering the nose and mouth, they will strongly resist.”

”If we control a person one-on-one, the deceased will obviously resist fiercely.”

”During fierce resistance, the deceased’s scapula will move due to the swinging of the arms.”

”In this case, the muscle between the scapula and ribs will exhibit significant bleeding.”

”However, if multiple people control one person, when the deceased’s scapula is restricted and immobile, there will be no bleeding.”

”Oh! That’s how it is!”

With this sentence, the two young forensic doctors instantly understood, ”Captain Jiang, you mean to determine the number of perpetrators by this method?”

Jiang An nodded, ”That’s exactly the meaning.”

Upon hearing this, Director Hou and Mr. Chen exchanged glances and were instantly amazed.

The number of perpetrators had been a question both of them were pondering, but they never imagined they could find direction in this manner.

Previously, they felt the phrase ”Forensic medicine speaks for the deceased!” was just a promotional slogan.

Now, they have deeply realized the true meaning of the phrase.
