The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Qin Feng nodded, ”It’s possible.”

Then Jiang An straightened up and said, ”So, I’m thinking, shouldn’t we be looking for the riveted place?”

”If there is a secondary covering, unless it precisely aligns with the rivets, generally it may form a second hole-like trace.”

As a criminal investigation team leader, Qin Feng naturally wasn’t lacking in understanding ability.

Hearing Jiang An’s cue, he instantly understood.

Immediately, Qin Feng said, ”Then let’s flip over the coffin lid together and compare all the holes to see if we can find any extra ones.”

Soon, the two worked together to lift off the lid of the coffin opposite.

At this moment, hole-like traces could be seen around the coffin lid, and at the four corners of the coffin body were already rusty rivets.

Obviously, the rivets were fixed to the coffin body, while the lid only had hole-like traces, likely inset during the final covering.

The two each held a flashlight, beginning to inspect the four corners.

Three minutes later, Qin Feng suddenly spoke, ”Mr. Jiang, found it!”

”Look at this end of the coffin, why are there four hole-like traces on both sides?”

”Under normal circumstances, if formed in one go, there would only be two hole-like traces.”

Immediately, Qin Feng blurted out, ”This indicates that during the second covering, there might have been a misalignment.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An immediately came over, observed for a long time, and nodded, saying, ”Correct, this does appear to be problematic.”

”It should be that during the later covering of the coffin, a misalignment occurred, resulting in two more hole-like traces around the original.”

Seeing this, the two were momentarily stunned.

Qin Feng lamented, ”So it seems, this coffin really was opened?”

Jiang An nodded, ”Earlier, I noticed the other end of the coffin rivet holes had only two.”

”If the coffin was opened, then when the person covered it, they might only have focused on the nails at one end, while the other formed new hole-like traces due to misaligned rivets.”

With these words, Qin Feng immediately nodded, ”Indeed, this also fits with normal human behavior logic.”

”If someone closes this coffin, they might only align one end and the other possibly ends up slightly misaligned.”

At this moment, Qin Feng stood up, looked around, and finally settled his gaze on the coffin in front of him.

”If so, does this mean someone really swapped the body parts inside at a later stage?”

Jiang An nodded, ”At present, this possibility is very high.”

Immediately, Qin Feng asked, ”But who would do this?”

Jiang An said, ”Zhang Xiang!”

”This is his wife’s coffin. The only one able to open the coffin and place the real Li Ailing’s remains inside would be him.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Feng nodded, ”Then Zhang Xiang’s suspicion is suddenly very high.”

”Today, when we found him, he repeatedly stopped us from opening the coffin, I felt there was a problem.”

Finally, Jiang An said, ”Let’s go, no time to lose. Let’s go to the clinic immediately and bring Zhang Xiang back, to prevent any further dreams at night.”

Just as he finished speaking, suddenly a faint noise came from afar.

The two immediately looked towards the direction of the sound and shone their flashlights over.

”Who? Who?”

Qin Feng quickly put away his baton and drew his gun, ”Come out quickly, or I’ll shoot!”

Soon after, another wave of faint noises, gradually growing distant.

Qin Feng and Jiang An chased after the sounds...

But because the cemetery’s surrounding trees were very dense, visibility was very poor.

After chasing for less than a kilometer, the sound completely disappeared.

The two panted heavily, Qin Feng said, ”Could it have been Zhang Xiang?”

Jiang An nodded, ”It’s entirely possible.”

”This morning, we uncovered his wife’s remains. He probably knows there’s no way to hide it.”

”Tonight, he might be here to clean up, but accidentally bumped into us.”

Qin Feng put away his gun, said, ”Now, did we alert him?”

Jiang An suggested, ”Immediately control all traffic routes, prevent Zhang Xiang from escaping.”

”Also set up posts at all positions at the foot of the mountain; he just ran towards the mountain, I think it should be hard for him to come down for a while.”

”Okay, I’ll contact the command center right away.”

Ten minutes later, the criminal police team, security team, SWAT team, and police station personnel surrounded the mountain.

Mr. Chen and Director Hou came together. Seeing Qin Feng and Jiang An, they concernedly asked, ”Not hurt, right?”

The two shook their heads and said, ”No! But we brushed shoulders with that guy.”

Mr. Chen nodded, saying, ”Safety is good.”

Then he said, ”Earlier, I already sent the criminal investigation team to the clinic and Zhang Xiang’s home to look, but no one was there. I guess, as you said, he’s still on the mountain.”

At this moment, the entire mountain was pitch dark, but the foot of the mountain was already lit up, police cars and flashlights suddenly lit.

Mr. Chen looked up at the mountain, quickly said, ”This mountain looks quite big. If we search carpet-style, it’s likely the criminal will escape.”

Director Hou said, ”So are we going to wait for him to come down like sitting rabbits? This method is not feasible either.”

Mr. Chen said, ”I think we should split into two groups: one group surrounds the ground area, and send ten small teams led by police dogs to the mountain to search.”

Director Hou nodded, ”This is indeed a good idea. Police dogs have very keen senses, and this mountain is sparsely populated, which can completely achieve effective search results.”

”No time to lose, I’ll contact the canine unit right away, bring out ten police dogs, then let the SWAT team join, three people per group with a police dog, jointly search. Others await at the foot of the mountain.”

At this moment, Qin Feng and Jiang An exchanged glances, nodding at their focal point.

They were very excited internally; tonight truly was a race against time.

Despite brushing past the criminal, what excited Qin Feng more was the major breakthrough achieved tonight in the case that had been reopened six times.

As he said this, he looked excitedly at Mr. Chen, saying, ”Mr. Chen, tonight we might end this case.”

Mr. Chen laughed heartily, saying, ”Isn’t it thanks to Director Hou and Mr. Jiang’s careful guidance?”

Director Hou immediately waved his hand, saying, ”Oh, I wouldn’t dare claim this credit!”

”It’s clearly Mr. Jiang’s credit; without his meticulous mind, persisting with his perspective, actively investigating, tonight we might not have reached this level.”

After speaking, Mr. Chen also nodded, ”Exactly! To identify subtle differences between remains and photos, that’s not something many can do!”

Speaking, he immediately raised his thumb, saying, ”Mr. Jiang, I admire you!”
