The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Zhang Xiang looked around after hearing this, but his body didn’t move at all, as if he was indifferent to Jiang An’s request.

At this moment, Jiang An spoke.

”What? Are you trying to impede our investigation?”

”Or are you guilty and worried about us exhuming the body for forensic examination?”

Zhang Xiang forced himself to stay calm, chuckled lightly and said, ”Ridiculous, what do I have to be afraid of?”

”I, Zhang Xiang, act honestly and straightforwardly, never afraid of your coercion and bribery.”

”Let’s go, I’ll take you there.”

With that, he walked out between Qin Feng and Jiang An.

Jiang An and Qin Feng exchanged a glance and then also headed out the door.

After the three of them got in the car, they drove the police car, winding through the village roads. Forty minutes later, they finally arrived at a path by the hillside.

”Here it is. Follow this road forward, less than a hundred meters away,” Zhang Xiang said as he rolled down the window and pointed.

Soon, Jiang An and Qin Feng led Zhang Xiang, following the path.

Five minutes of walking brought them to a grave.

The grave before them was overgrown with weeds and branches, looking aged.

Zhang Xiang raised his hand and pointed, ”This is the grave of my late wife, Li Ailing. Are you satisfied now?”

”If you’re satisfied, can I leave now?”

Upon hearing this, Qin Feng hurriedly said, ”Mr. Zhang, we’ll take you back later.”

”No need, I’m not comfortable riding in your car. I’ll just walk back myself.”

”Anyway, I usually walk here to pay respects to her every year.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An suddenly spoke up, ”Mr. Zhang, please wait!”

”Oh, is there something else you need to ask?”

Zhang Xiang turned around and asked.

”There’s nothing else, but we need to exhume the body for forensic examination.”

”Exhume the body?”

Zhang Xiang looked at Qin Feng and then asked, ”Mr. Qin, doesn’t exhuming a body require some evidence? Isn’t it excessive to dig up an ordinary person’s grave for no reason?”

Qin Feng turned to look at Jiang An, somewhat surprised by his suggestion.

But at this moment, he had to stand with Jiang An.

He smiled and said, ”Mr. Zhang, this is part of our police investigation, we hope you can understand.”

”We need to clarify the situation with the remains in the coffin.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Xiang quickly said, ”Mr. Qin, I recall you were personally present at the scene of the fire.”

”And you should have been there when the forensic examination was conducted.”

”Fifteen years have passed, is another examination really necessary?”

This question left Qin Feng momentarily speechless.

Although he and Zhang Xiang knew each other and had interacted many times, they weren’t friends but at least got along well.

However, Jiang An didn’t concern himself with these details, believing that whatever was necessary to solve the case should be attempted.

Jiang An continued, ”Mr. Qin probably spoke more diplomatically, but I’ll be more direct.”

”To be honest, we discovered unidentified remains at the edge of a cliff.”

”And the missing parts of the unidentified remains happen to closely match the parts of your wife Li Ailing’s remains found at the time.”

”We suspect these two cases are connected.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Xiang suddenly exploded and urgently asked, ”What?”

”You mean the remains in the valley are somehow linked to my wife Li Ailing’s remains?”

”I didn’t hear wrong, did I? You must explain this clearly.”

Immediately, Zhang Xiang became agitated, saying, ”My wife died tragically while guarding the pharmacy. You can’t just say such things carelessly.”

Jiang An paused for a moment, glanced at the nearby grave and said, ”I believe in coincidences, but coincidences are about probability.”

”The remains found at the site of the fire made us suspect there’s a connection to the unidentified remains we’ve been investigating.”

”Therefore, for the resolution of the case from fifteen years ago, we need to exhume the body for identification comparison, and we hope you can cooperate.”

”Cooperate? Cooperate with this nonsense.”

”I don’t know what you’re up to, but as her husband, I’m firmly opposed.”

”Additionally, I’ll immediately call Li Ailing’s biological parents.”

”They are elderly, and if they find out about this, it might be more trouble than you can handle.”

As he spoke, he promptly picked up his phone and dialed a number.

Qin Feng wanted to step forward to stop him but was held back by Jiang An.

”Mr. Qin, let her parents come over, I have a way to handle it.”

Qin Feng was as anxious as an ant in a hot pan. Solving this cold case was extremely necessary, but if the investigation led to a public incident, even positioning against the people, it would be a much bigger issue.

He quickly tugged Jiang An’s arm, turning to say, ”Mr. Jiang, if more people come, it might be hard for us to contain the situation.”

Jiang An replied calmly, ”Not a problem! I handled similar public incidents before in Jiangcheng, I’m confident in dealing with this.”

Sure enough, twenty minutes later, two elderly people brought a dozen others arriving at the site.

Judging by the group’s stance, they seemed to have summoned family members from far and wide.
