The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Originally, Deputy Director Chen Guan thought this was just an ordinary unnatural death case that could be handled according to the normal procedure.

Standard Scene Investigation was conducted: there were no signs of a fight at the scene, no financial loss, and no damage to the door lock.

The external examination of the body showed no visible injuries, and the family did not request an autopsy, intending to handle the body themselves.

However, only after they arrived at the scene did they realize it was not that simple.

On the contrary, the complexity was visible to the naked eye.

The number of deaths escalated from one person to two.

Although it was not certain whether the other person was dead, judging from the situation at the scene, the chances were slim.

This was obviously a serious criminal case of a particularly vile nature.

Standing in the living room, Chen Guan looked around and shook His head.

Still, no matter how tough the bone, Guangling Criminal Investigation had to gnaw on it themselves; they couldn’t trouble others right from the start.

Then He said in a deep voice, ”Director Hou, this scene is a bit complicated. Next we need to conduct a lengthy examination and inspection of the scene.”

”You and Mr. Jiang have already been working hard in Jiangcheng for a long time. Please go back to rest first. If there is anything special, we’ll report to you.”

As He spoke, Mr. Qin also walked over and said, ”Exactly. Director Hou, Mr. Jiang, please go back and rest first. We can’t delay your trip back to the provincial capital tomorrow.”

Hearing this, Director Hou smiled and said, ”Mr. Chen, Mr. Qin, now that a case of such a vile nature has occurred...”

”How could Mr. Jiang and I possibly rest easy?”

”Besides, if we left at a time like this, wouldn’t that be very uncalled for?”

As soon as He said this, the corner of Jiang An’s mouth twitched and He said, ”What Director Hou said is indeed true.”

”As for this case, although we can’t yet clearly confirm that two people are dead, judging from the scene and the distribution of items, the likelihood of two deaths is very high.”

”So we must stay and work with you to get this case clear.”

Hearing this, Deputy Director Chen Guan was deeply grateful.

He had really not expected that the two leaders of the special task force, who had already been on assignment in Guangling for many days, were still willing to lend a strong hand.

After a long moment, Chen Guan stepped forward, took the hands of Director Hou and Mr. Jiang, and said, ”Director Hou, Mr. Jiang, thank you. I didn’t expect you two to care so much about Guangling.”

Jiang An said, ”Mr. Chen, you’re too polite. We investigate thousands of miles to solve cases across the land.”

”Facing a case of such a vile nature, how could Director Hou and I just stand by and watch?”

”Besides, I already mentioned that there are some strange aspects to this scene.”

”Why is the location of the body not the area where the fighting was most intense? Is it possible that the other person was also killed?”

Just then, a patrol officer from the police station outside suddenly came in at a quick pace.

He reported, ”Mr. Qin, just now we contacted the landlord and learned that the other tenant is named Jiang Shan. The two of them rented this place together.”

”In addition, we found out that she and Li Qian both work for a labor dispatch company—one works at an electronics factory, the other at a shoe factory.”

”Two years ago, the two of them jointly rented this apartment through the labor dispatch company.”

”Can we get in touch with Jiang Shan now?”

The officer replied, ”Her phone is already switched off. We can’t reach her!”

At these words, astonishment flashed across everyone’s faces.

To criminal police, it’s possible for someone’s phone to be turned off occasionally.

But if it’s off for an extended period, there is definitely a problem.

Coupled with the fact that the current condition of the scene was extremely chaotic, everyone present immediately became tense.

A young officer asked, ”Mr. Qin, the filing time for a missing adult case is quite long. We can’t open a case for the time being.”

Qin Feng waved His hand and said, ”I don’t think we can rely solely on the length of the disappearance to decide whether to open a case.”

”Given how messy this scene is, it’s possible that this Jiang Shan has already been killed.”

”Right now, we must activate the homicide investigation mechanism, conduct a thorough examination of the scene and the body, and at the same time strengthen the outer investigation to determine the last activity trajectories of the two girls.”

Finally, He turned and asked, ”Mr. Chen, what do you think?”

Chen Guan nodded quickly, ”I agree with activating the homicide investigation mechanism. I’ll immediately arrange for the Scene Investigation team to come here and carry out a rapid Scene Investigation.”

”After the preliminary Scene Investigation, we’ll transfer the body to the forensic autopsy center for a forensic autopsy.”

After making the arrangements, Mr. Chen looked at Director Hou and Mr. Jiang and said, ”Director Hou, Mr. Jiang, do you think this arrangement is appropriate?”

Director Hou nodded and said, ”I fully agree.”

He looked at Jiang An and said, ”Mr. Jiang, what do you think?”

Jiang An glanced around and said, ”What you’ve arranged is already very thorough. I’ll just add one point.”

”Please go ahead.”

”Just now, when I came up, I noticed this is an old residential compound, with very few cameras installed around it.”

”If we try to investigate through external surveillance, it may be quite difficult.”

”In traditional case investigation, we adhere to a body-centered approach, combining Scene Investigation with witness interviews.”

”But for this particular case, the signs of a fight at the Crime Scene are very obvious. I think we should focus on Scene Investigation.”

Hearing this, Mr. Qin immediately nodded and said, ”That makes sense. I’ll contact the on-duty Scene Investigation team in our unit right away to come and work the scene. We must conduct a high-quality examination.”

After a brief pause, He added, ”Mr. Jiang, while our Scene Investigation team is working the scene, we’d like you to give us more guidance, so that Guangling Criminal Investigation’s Scene Investigation team can take this opportunity to improve their skills.”
