The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Immediately, Jiang An turned around and said, ”Madam! We want to check the situation under the ceiling.”

”The ceiling? You want to see what’s up there?” The woman had a look of surprise on her face, ”Up there, besides the mice, there’s just some wires. Do you still want to check?”

Jiang An explained, ”We want to check the gaps in the ceiling to see if there’s anything we’re looking for.”

”Something you’re looking for?”

”This is confidential in our investigation, not convenient to disclose.”

The woman turned her head and looked at the people in front of her, finally said, ”No problem, it’s just that those are sealed, it might be difficult for you to handle.”

”We have rented this place for a long time and never opened it.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Feng smiled and said, ”No problem, I used to renovate my house myself. I’m quite skilled with these modular integrated ceilings.”

”Oh lady, do you have a ladder at home? We would like to borrow it.”

”We have a ladder, a stepladder. I’ll get it for you right away.”

”No need, I’ll go get it.”

Wan immediately followed the woman to the balcony, and sure enough, there was a stepladder.

He immediately carried it over and placed it in the bathroom.

Then, Wan turned and said, ”Madam, you go ahead with your work, we’ll handle things in the bathroom, if help is needed, I’ll call you.”

”Okay, then you all carry on.”

”Officers, I’ve poured you some boiled water. We don’t have tea leaves at home, just left it on the coffee table.”

”Thank you, thank you very much.” Wan hurriedly said.

Then, the four of them entered the bathroom.

Qin Feng looked at Jiang An: ”Mr. Jiang, I’ll take these down, where do you think it’s appropriate to place them?”

Speaking, Qin Feng immediately climbed up the stepladder.

Since this was his own case, it’s better for him to handle such physically demanding tasks himself.

Jiang An looked up for a moment and said, ”Let’s start by removing from the position above the showerhead.”

”Once each piece is taken down, I mark the position, place it on the floor, and spray Luminol Reagent on each piece’s edge.”

”If there were bloodstains up there, then there’s a good chance something we’re looking for could be in the gaps.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Feng nodded and said, ”Okay, I’ll take it down right away.”

”Wan, you stand by to receive them, later let Li do the spraying.”

Just then, Jiang An said, ”Let me do it.”

”Be particularly careful when spraying the reagent on each piece’s gaps.”

Li smiled and said, ”I’ll stand by and learn then.”

Quickly, the four worked together. Qin Feng took down the square integrated ceiling tile from above, Wan received it and handed it to Jiang An, who sprayed the edges with Luminol Reagent, then Li placed it on the ground.

Just like that, in the small three-square-meter bathroom, they took turns working.

After 40 minutes, they had taken down all the integrated ceiling tiles.

At this moment, the tiles and edges were all sprayed with Luminol Reagent.

Having done everything, the four of them looked at each other.

Jiang An said, ”Now we wait for the results.”

”Let’s turn off the bathroom lights, it’s only in the dark that we can see more clearly.”

”If there are bloodstains, over such a long time, the proteins in the blood would have degraded.”

”So next, we have to be extra careful, even a weak fluorescent reaction is crucial for determining whether this is the first crime scene.”

With these words, everyone nodded.

Then, Wan turned off the lights with a ”click,” and everyone stared at the ceiling integrated tiles on the floor.

Like this, one minute, two minutes, three minutes, four minutes...

Until ten minutes later, suddenly on the edge of a tile in front, there was a bright fluorescent reaction, seemingly very faint.

Seeing this, Jiang An and Qin Feng squatted down to observe.

Jiang An remembered clearly, this was the first tile they took down, he marked it 1.

”Oh my, this is really the first crime scene!”

Wan looked around the entire bathroom, suddenly feeling very shocked.

No wonder when they rented the place earlier, it didn’t seem pricey. It turned out it wasn’t because it was vacant for long, but this place was a crime house.

”Shh.” Qin Feng immediately gestured for silence, signaling Wan to be quiet.

Otherwise, if the woman heard, it might bring unnecessary trouble later.

”So what do you think we should do?” Qin Feng looked at Jiang An.

Jiang An spoke, ”Let’s first photograph and fix these, then take swab samples from the area showing fluorescent reaction and send it to the lab for testing.”

”This way, we ensure the ceiling is in its original state and achieve our evidence collection purpose.”

”Can we confirm now that this is the first crime scene?” Qin Feng asked again.

Jiang An looked up at the square ceiling tiles, then at the integrated ceiling, and said, ”If the bloodstain was on the floor, I feel we couldn’t confirm it, couldn’t determine whose blood it was.”

”But now, the location of the bloodstain distribution is particularly odd. Appearing in the ceiling gaps with these fluorescent reactions is sufficient to explain one issue—the bloodstain must have been sprayed up there.”

”After all, water flows downward. For the bloodstains to enter the ceiling gaps, they must have been flung with considerable force.”
