Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1296: Chapter 1296: Taking it to the Grave Even in Death

She walked up to the store clerk and struck up a casual conversation, ”Does your boss always do business this way? Isn’t this going to lead to a huge loss?”

”Yes, our boss does indeed conduct business this way often,” the clerk whispered cautiously, stealing a glance at the busy Lin Qiushu, ”To tell you the truth, this is the first time I’ve come across a boss like this. The way she does business is truly conscientious!”

”So she doesn’t lose money in business? To be honest, not many people come to your store in a day, right?” Jade is not a daily necessity nor a consumable, so not many people buy it, and there are not customers every day.

”You’re absolutely right. But our boss is a rich person. I heard she came back from overseas, and she used to do business there. Later, when she heard that the old lady was getting on in years and wanted to return to her roots, she came back. That’s how the jade business works; often it’s half a year of no business, followed by half a year of brisk business!”

An Hao nodded. In her previous life, she didn’t have much exposure to jade, so she wasn’t very clear on the subject.

She decided she would just listen to what others said.

”However, your boss is quite young! At such a young age, she’s so adept at identifying jade. Could it be that her ancestors were in this business?” Since she had asked, An Hao decided to inquire a bit more.

”I’m not sure about that. But one thing is for certain, our boss is obsessed with jade! Her skill in identifying jade is top-notch too,” the clerk said, giving a thumbs up, ”You have no idea. We were bored out of our minds here in the Jade Store every day, and she would dive into the shop, studying and examining a bracelet from all angles. If you don’t call her, she can forget to eat lunch altogether.”

”Really?” An Hao could hardly believe it.

”Would I lie to you? Our boss’s grandmother is just the same, obsessed with jade! The old lady had a wish; before passing away, she wanted to find a piece of jade of rare quality. She intended to bring it into the coffin when she got old. Our boss went to great lengths to search for it!”

”Into the coffin? Rare and high-quality? And making such an effort to find it?” An Hao became even more perplexed as she listened, ”If the jade is rare and of excellent quality, then it must be incredibly valuable! Why bring it into the coffin?”

”Who knows? I don’t understand it either! The thoughts of rich people are hard to guess, and the thoughts of a wealthy old lady are even harder to guess! I just happened to overhear it. But I reckon, the old lady was so obsessed with jade that she...”

An Hao thought there was some sense to it.

Since she was obsessed with jade, it was normal to not have had her fill during her lifetime and to take it with her in death.

”Your boss really isn’t an ordinary person,” An Hao exclaimed, feeling that Lin Qiushu was indeed extraordinary.

Since she didn’t care about these minor losses, it proved she had a broad vision and a generous heart. She didn’t just look at immediate, trivial profits. Could she be a very strategic woman?

Then her family was probably not just an ordinary merchant family.

The clerk completely agreed with An Hao’s spontaneous remark, ”You’re absolutely right! Our boss is a woman with great courage! She’s also a dutiful granddaughter, and she’s going all out to fulfill the old lady’s dream. On the street, whenever she sees someone wearing jade, whether it’s a pendant or a bracelet, she’s got to go up and take a look. She’s even followed people home! Once she followed someone home to explain her intentions and unfortunately was mistaken for having bad intentions and got beaten up!”
