Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1261: Chapter 1261: Not Far from the Truth

”If you hadn’t killed, I naturally wouldn’t have framed you,” An Hao squinted her eyes at her, ”Dr. Ma, do you think that if you don’t speak up, I’ll keep taking the blame for you? You’re wrong! I won’t carry this burden for you much longer.”

Ma Mei was startled, but she still denied it, ”What do you mean by that? What do you mean by ’not taking the blame for me much longer’?”

Seeing that she would not concede until she saw the coffin, An Hao decided to tell her what she had discovered.

Because she had been carrying the blame and had been inexplicably punished, she felt unbearably miserable. Why should Ma Mei be able to peacefully enjoy the tranquillity and silence brought by someone else’s sacrificed future?

”Dr. Ma, you must already know this, but on the night of the surgery, when the patient was pushed back to the ward, the young nurse had already found out that the wrong liquid was being administered. She secretly removed it and threw it away,” An Hao said.

”Of course, I knew that.” The young nurse had only revealed this during Ji Chuan’s later investigation.

The reason being, Dr. Zhou had once helped her, and when she saw the wrong liquid being administered, she thought it was Dr. Zhou’s mistake, so she quickly removed it and replaced it.

She wasn’t sure if what she was doing was right, but she purely wanted to help Dr. Zhou.

Ma Mei had always been keeping tabs on the progress of the investigation, so she had secretly asked others about the results of Ji Chuan’s investigation.

”I know. What does that prove?” Ma Mei didn’t think there was any problem or loophole, nor did she think this would lead An Hao to a solution.

”It proves that the anesthesia left in the bottle wasn’t completely administered! Teacher Yan called for a neurologist to consult and assessed the patient’s brain damage, and it looks like it wasn’t as bad as imagined. The patient’s eye movements after the surgery twice indicate that she was showing signs of waking up! If anesthesia was continuously administered, how could there be signs of waking up? This only confirms that there wasn’t much anesthesia left in the bottle, the remaining was mostly diluent,” An Hao slowly explained to Ma Mei.

While listening to An Hao, her brain was fervently analyzing.

This meant that the anesthesia administered by Dr. Zhou were all within the safe limits. Due to the patient falling into a coma and becoming vegetative, everyone had neglected this pre-existing fact.

Although the dosage was within a safe range, reactions can vary from person to person. Perhaps, this patient was one who experienced an unforeseen reaction.

That is why it is imperative to strictly control anesthesia.

Since the brain damage wasn’t especially severe, it meant that the patient could still wake up, and it was very likely she would.

At this thought, Ma Mei’s face suddenly turned pale.

Her normally calm heart, at this moment, started racing. If this was indeed the case, then there could be trouble.

An Hao, noticing the change in Ma Mei’s face, continued, ”Dr. Ma, there’s something else you might not know? Director Yan once called me to say that the patient had briefly woken up, but then fell back into a coma. This phenomenon could be a good sign, indicating that the patient won’t be long from waking. Or it could mean that once the patient briefly wakes, she might never wake again. But luckily, in this case, it’s a good sign!”
