Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1255: Chapter 1255: You Actually Want It Too, Don’t You?

”Hang in there! Hang in there! Clench your teeth and endure! Actually, it really isn’t that tough once you distract yourself a bit!” An Hao clenched her fists, cheering Qin Jian on.

”Are you saying that to me, or are you trying to convince yourself?” Qin Jian teased as he leaned in, looking at her blushing face, ”Actually, you want it too, don’t you?”

”No! Not at all!” An Hao vehemently denied.

”It seems I’ve finally come to understand the meaning of ’saying one thing but meaning another,’” Qin Jian said with a wicked smile.

”Stop it!” An Hao pushed Qin Jian away, ”From now on, you and I need to keep our distance.”

”Ha!” Qin Jian chuckled lowly, ”I was planning to take you out today since it’s my day off, but since you want me to keep my distance, it seems I’ll be going out alone...”

”Wait!” An Hao quickly called after him, ”You have a day off today? What are you planning to do?”

”Commander Zhang, no, now he should be referred to as Division Commander Zhang. He’s heading to the division headquarters tomorrow. A few old comrades want to celebrate for him, a farewell party of sorts,” Qin Jian explained, ”We’re going to his house for a meal, his wife specifically asked you to come.”

”Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” An Hao got out of bed and walked towards the bathroom, ”Let me also get ready. What time is it? Wouldn’t it be bad if we arrived late?”

”There’s still plenty of time, you’ll have enough time to get ready,” Qin Jian said with a smile, ”For now, breakfast is the priority.”

Nancheng City is a big city, hosting a Corps in it. However, there are only two regiment headquarters in the city district, the rest are scattered across other counties.

Fortunately, the division headquarters isn’t too far from the regiment headquarters.

It’s not like some places where it takes several hours to get from the regiment headquarters to the division headquarters by car.

After breakfast, An Hao went upstairs to find a slightly loose-fitting cloth dress to put on and took some money from the drawer before going downstairs, since it wouldn’t be proper to visit someone empty-handed.

Before leaving the house, Zhang Yun reminded Qin Jian a few times to take good care of An Hao.

After listening to the nagging, they finally left the house.

The two hadn’t strolled together for a long time. Hand in hand, they walked down the street, and An Hao felt a burst of joy. The sky was a clear blue, and a gentle breeze was blowing. Holding the hand of her beloved, the feeling was so good it was simply indescribable.

”What should we buy?” The two arrived at Friendship Department Store, wandering around undecided.

”Why not buy some liquor? Division Commander Zhang likes to have a few drinks by himself when he has nothing to do,” Qin Jian finally suggested, having no other ideas, to buy liquor.

”Okay,” agreed An Hao, since a gift should cater to the recipient’s tastes, ”Let’s go buy some liquor.”

The liquor section of the store wasn’t deserted, life had greatly improved from before, and people, besides filling their stomachs, also started to care about other aspects of their lifestyles.

In addition to baijiu, the liquor section now also had red wine.

Qin Jian headed to the baijiu area, while An Hao rushed to the red wine section. She remembered that once when chatting with Zhang Lanxiang, Zhang Lanxiang had mentioned red wine, saying she had tried it once and the taste was rather good.

Before, An Hao had only listened casually.

Now that she was going to visit, she decided to buy a nice bottle of red wine for Zhang Lanxiang; surely, she’d be very happy.

An Hao knew a bit about red wine, but not too much.

She stood in front of a row of wine racks, selecting a red wine. At that time, there were very few wine brands, only two or three kinds. An Hao was comparing two brands of red wine, undecided, when she heard a voice at her ear, ”The one on the left is better.”
