Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1295: Chapter 1295 Doing Legitimate Business

”Yes, I have,” a stranger woman quickened her pace and came before Lin Qiushu, pulling out a red hardwood box from the bag she carried.

She carefully opened the box and lifted the red cloth to reveal a white jade bracelet, which she then extended towards Lin Qiushu, ”I heard that you also buy jade bracelets here, right? Give me a valuation, and if it’s reasonable, I’ll sell it.”

”Okay,” Lin Qiushu took the bracelet and, after just one glance, handed it back to the strange woman, ”This bracelet isn’t worth much; you won’t get a good price for it! You might as well keep it, it’s still a bracelet after all!”

”I know. But I really need the money! Name your price, and if I can accept it, I’ll sell it,” the woman said urgently.

”This bracelet isn’t even worth a hundred!” Lin Qiushu said lightly.

One hundred yuan, for the average family, is nothing more than a month’s income, but for someone like Lin Qiushu, who deals in jade and stones, it’s really not much.

”I know!” The woman asked Lin Qiushu to name a price once again.

She was well aware that her jade bracelet wasn’t made of high-quality jade, nor was it particularly precious. It was bought for her by her husband a few years ago when their financial situation was better.

Now her husband was gone, and her child was sick. She needed the money urgently, which is why she was willing to pawn the bracelet.

”Your bracelet is barely worth seventy or eighty yuan, but I’ll give you a hundred! I can see you’re having a tough time,” Lin Qiushu saw the story in the woman’s eyes.

”Thank you so much!” The woman’s eyes lit up as she kept thanking Lin Qiushu, ”I really appreciate it! You are such a kind person! I won’t lie to you, I went to another Jade Store, and the owner offered me fifty yuan, but I didn’t sell it. I wanted to come here and see how the price compares.”

Lin Qiushu took the bracelet, handed it over to an employee, and began counting money from the drawer while saying, ”That owner didn’t cheat you! Your bracelet really isn’t worth much! Plus, it’s been worn. So, an offer of fifty yuan is quite fair!”

”Yes, yes, yes!” The woman pocketed the money and thanked Lin Qiushu profusely for a long time before turning to leave. She looked back reluctantly at the jade bracelet one more time.

”Can’t part with it? If you want to redeem it, I can keep it for you for a year. One year from now, you can come back to me with the price I originally offered you.”

”I’m afraid I won’t be able to redeem it! No need, no need... The person is gone, and keeping this as a remembrance serves no purpose—it can’t be eaten, and it can’t be drunk! No need for it.” Saving the money for her son’s medical treatment was what mattered most.

”Fine. Since you’ve decided. I’ll resale the bracelet.”

”Well. Okay.”

After sending off the stranger woman, Lin Qiushu passed the bracelet to an employee, ”Clean it up and reprice it for sale!”

”How much for the price?” asked the employee.

”Fifty.”

”What? Boss, you’ve been making quite a few losing deals lately!” The employee felt sorry for Lin Qiushu, ”If everyone did business like you, wouldn’t they go broke?”

”This woman has it tough! Fifty yuan isn’t much! Just turnaround and find someone wealthy and willing to spend, sell it for an extra fifty, and it’s done,” Lin Qiushu said.

Gu Shuangshuang laughed upon hearing this, ”Sister Qiushu, you’re like a hero from Liangshan! Robbing the rich to help the poor!”

”I’m no hero from Liangshan. I neither steal nor rob! What I do is honest business,” Lin Qiushu said softly with a laugh.

An Hao thought Lin Qiushu handled her business quite efficiently, seeming genuine and not like an act, appearing to be a true connoisseur of jade and stones.
