Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1260: Chapter 1260: Don’t Be Too Proud Too Soon

An Hao listened to these words, feeling a great deal of discomfort inside, and her originally smiling face grew somber, ”Dr. Ma, one should speak with a conscience! Whether or not that incident involved me, you know better than anyone else in your heart. Now, the director has called a hospital-wide staff meeting to clarify for me. There hasn’t been an outcome to this matter, and no conclusions can be drawn. What gives you the right to assert that I caused this medical accident?”

”The incident was witnessed by everyone! Everyone in the operating room saw it, you tampered with the IV line. If one person were wrong, surely not everyone could be mistaken,” Ma Mei clung to this point, believing she had An Hao cornered with no chance to fight back.

”But, I saw with my own eyes that the person who made the mistake with the IV was you!” An Hao’s gaze bore into Ma Mei, suddenly becoming sharp, ”Don’t be too pleased with yourself too soon. The truth will always come to light! This matter will eventually be made clear one day!”

”What you saw doesn’t count. Who would believe the word of one person? You have no evidence that I was the one who disconnected that IV line.” In recent days, Ma Mei was somewhat apprehensive upon inadvertently overhearing Ji Chuan and Yan Ye’s intention to determine who was responsible for the incident through fingerprints.

But later, she heard that the discarded IV line had long been thrown away. The nurse who went to the ward that night to change the patient’s medication discovered the wrong medicine had been administered but didn’t dare to make a sound, hastily swapped the medicine, and then carelessly tossed the bag into the medical waste pile.

That item was never preserved as critical evidence, so there was no way to investigate the fingerprints.

Even if there had been something to investigate, Ma Mei wasn’t particularly worried, as many people had handled that IV line. How could it be determined it was her?

”I may not have evidence now. But, I know that before long, I will definitely be able to expose you. If you don’t want to meet a disgraceful end when that time comes, you’d better speak the truth sooner rather than later. Confessing on your own is always better! Otherwise, once I expose you, I certainly won’t let you off so easily. I will take you to court! By then, if you regret it when your reputation is ruined, it will be too late,” An Hao said with utter confidence.

She believed that the injustice she suffered would surely be cleared up.

Watching An Hao’s confident demeanor, Ma Mei couldn’t help feeling apprehensive, a sense of dread creeping into her heart!

She was certain An Hao would be able to make a move against her!

Ma Mei truly regretted coming here for dinner today; she was now unsure where An Hao’s confidence stemmed from!

Was it that she had indeed found a method, or was she just bluffing to get Ma Mei to confess the truth?

”Ma Mei, if it was really you who did it, you’d better admit it. You wouldn’t want to ruin your own future and implicate an innocent person to take the fall for you, would your conscience allow you to be at peace?” Yan Ye also stopped what she was doing and joined An Hao in denouncing Ma Mei.

She had long wanted to question Ma Mei but had never found the opportunity to speak out.

Today, since the conversation had come to this point, she was going to properly express her own thoughts to Ma Mei.

”Sister-in-law! Why do you also assume it was me?” Ma Mei feigned a face of innocence, ”I’m truly wronged to death here! An Hao says it’s me, and you believe it’s me! If later she claims I’ve murdered someone, sister-in-law, would you believe that too?”
