Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1276: Chapter 1275: Declining the Invitation

Qiushu Lin glanced at An Hao, who was standing by her side. Her expression was composed, but the subtle emotions in her eyes were enigmatic, making it impossible to guess what she was thinking.

”Sister Qiushu?” Gu Shuangshuang called out to her again,”Give me a chance to express my gratitude!”

”There’s no need for a meal. I accept your thanks. Goodbye!” After saying this, Qiushu Lin left, wringing the water from her clothes.

”Phew! That was close! I, Gu Shuangshuang, really do have a huge stroke of luck! It seems the heavens still favor me and didn’t send me straight to meet the King of Hell,” Gu Shuangshuang said, touching her chest, still in shock.

”It’s good that you’re fine. Let’s go back so you can change,” An Hao also heaved a sigh of relief; the scare from earlier was nearly too much, and she needed to rest and calm her nerves.

”How about you? Are you okay?” Gu Shuangshuang, remembering An Hao’s panicked actions, felt both guilty and grateful,”It’s not a big deal if I have an accident, but if you had one trying to save me... Then my sin would be great. I guess even if I died, Commander Qin would still have my body displayed publicly...”

”You talk about Qin Jian as if he were some fearsome demon. But fortunately, you’re safe. If you had died, I wouldn’t have peace for the rest of my life,” An Hao replied.

”So, I’m really thankful for Sister Qiushu...”

”Still ’Sister Qiushu’. You really do have a way with words...” An Hao tossed the comment at her before turning to walk back.

”Haha. My life was saved by someone, calling her ’sister’ isn’t too much, right?” Gu Shuangshuang said, following hurriedly behind.

On the way back, Gu Shuangshuang kept talking to An Hao about Lin Qiushu.

However, she noticed that An Hao was disinterested and reacted indifferently, seemingly without much feeling towards Lin Qiushu.

”Darling! I’ve noticed that every time I bring up Lin Qiushu, your reaction is not as...,” Gu Shuangshuang struggled to find the right word to describe the feeling.

”What? What kind of feeling do you think I should have towards her?” An Hao stopped and asked.

Thinking it over, Gu Shuangshuang said, ”At the very least, you shouldn’t be so cold, right? After all, she saved one of the people you care about the most, didn’t she? But your reaction seems too tepid.”

Instead of answering Gu Shuangshuang’s question, An Hao asked directly, ”What do you think of Lin Qiushu? Setting aside the fact she saved you, give me a simple, objective assessment of her.”

”Kind! Beautiful, gentle... That’s about it...” With such brief contact, Gu Shuangshuang’s impressions of her were mostly based on appearance; she couldn’t discern much about her personality.

”You think she’s kind?” An Hao asked Gu Shuangshuang.

”Of course. She jumped into the water to save me. Isn’t that an act of kindness?” Gu Shuangshuang felt that An Hao’s attitude was peculiar and was very puzzled, ”What’s with you? This doesn’t seem like you at all! It feels like you have some prejudice against Lin Qiushu! Could it be that you know her?”

”I do indeed know her,” An Hao admitted, ”Do you remember the bracelet I told you about? Later, I went to the Jade Store intending to sell it. That’s when I met her. At that time, her eyes lit up at the sight of my bracelet, and I still remember her expression to this day—there wasn’t just admiration; there was also astonishment...”

”What does that prove? It just shows that your bracelet really is good! Maybe she’s never seen such a fine bracelet before?” Gu Shuangshuang didn’t think there was anything amiss.

”But what was really strange and unsettling came after that! She... actually followed me!” That was the real reason behind An Hao’s feelings of antipathy.
