Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1273: Chapter 1273: Change Someone to Accompany You

An Hao hung her head in silence, feeling upset. She had been overjoyed at the thought of going with him, and now this sudden turn of events—how could it not sadden her?

”My good wife, don’t be upset! I promise I will come to see you. I may not be able to be with you during the day, but I’ll definitely come at night, okay?” Qin Jian couldn’t bear to see An Hao sad and could only make such arrangements.

”Are you serious?” An Hao looked up and asked.

”Of course, I am!” Qin Jian gently wiped away the tears on An Hao’s face with the pad of his finger. ”Look at you, about to be a mother, and yet still acting like a child?”

An Hao shook her head, her voice low as she sobbed twice, ”It might be because of the pregnancy, the hormones in my body are imbalanced. Sometimes even I struggle to control my emotions.”

”I understand! I don’t blame you.”

Just as Qin Jian had coaxed An Hao into feeling better, and the two were getting ready to rest,

there was another knock at the door downstairs.

Zhang Yun went to open the door, only to find that Gu Shuangshuang had come back.

”I’m really sorry, I’ve come back again!” Gu Shuangshuang panted as she spoke, ”Could I trouble uncle to have his guards take me back to school?”

Gu Shuangshuang was also somewhat miserable; it had been a long time since she had seen Shuangshuang, and they had chatted away past time.

She had walked out of the military compound alone, only to find that the last bus had gone.

Left with no other choice, she had to come back, thick-skinned, to ask the Commander to have his guards escort her back.

”Is it because there’s no last bus back to school?” Zhang Yun guessed the reason at a glance—it really was quite far from here to their university, and it wasn’t safe for a girl to go back alone. ”If there’s no last bus, don’t go. Stay here for the night and leave tomorrow.”

”That... wouldn’t be proper, would it?” If Qin Jian weren’t there, it would be somewhat acceptable for her to stay over.

But now with Qin Jian at home, how could she have the nerve to stay here?

”What’s wrong with that?” At this point, Qin Jian had come down from upstairs.

Gu Shuangshuang noticed that Shuangshuang’s eyes were a bit red, ”Why have you been crying while I was gone?

”We had planned for me to accompany her on a vacation for a few days, but I got a call at the last minute and couldn’t go. She’s a bit upset,” Qin Jian said regretfully.

”Ah? You’re not going?” Gu Shuangshuang thought for a moment, then said to An Hao, ”If you don’t mind, I could go with you. I’m supposed to be on vacation for the next couple of days anyway.”

”Really?” An Hao’s eyes lit up; she actually liked the idea of going with Gu Shuangshuang.

”Of course it’s true.”

”That’s fantastic then, no need for you to leave tonight—stay here! And tomorrow, I’ll arrange for someone to take you both over,” Qin Jian made the decision on behalf of Gu Shuangshuang.

”But my clothes and luggage...” She hadn’t brought a single item with her and couldn’t possibly wear the same clothes for several days, could she?

”Don’t worry, I have everything. I’ll lend them to you,” An Hao said.

”Done! Rest assured, I’ll make sure you have a great time and will keep you safe and secure,” Gu Shuangshuang declared, patting her chest.

”It’s a deal!”

The next morning, Qin Jian went to the headquarters for a meeting and arranged for a car to take An Hao and Gu Shuangshuang on vacation.

After an hour’s drive, An Hao and Gu Shuangshuang arrived at a place called Qiong Mountain.

This was located in the suburban district, where there was a very large retirement home.

Retired senior officials and other dignitaries would come here for rest and recuperation.

This place was open to the public, and one could stay for a long term or just one or two days.

The environment was serene, with mountains and waters is not hot at all in the summer, making it perfect for a pregnant woman like An Hao.
