Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1252: Chapter 1252: Joy Fills the House

At dusk, Qin Jian came home with a joyful smile on his face.

He just happened to help his mother-in-law bring food from the kitchen, and he saw Qin Jian’s smile.

”Something good happened?” she asked casually.

”Guess!” Qin Jian said as he removed his coat.

”Is it the guessing game again?” This time An Hao could guess even with her eyes closed, ”You must have been promoted to a battalion commander.”

”Smart! Correct!” Qin Jian stepped forward, cupped An Hao’s cheeks, and kissed her lightly, ”Here’s your reward!”

”Stop it!” An Hao quickly looked back, saw that her mother-in-law was still busy in the kitchen and hadn’t noticed, and hastily stepped back to create some distance.

This guy is getting bolder!

Before long, Ning Yibin also came home, looking very happy as well.

He must have known about Qin Jian’s promotion.

Indeed, during dinner, he brought out a prized Moutai that he had stored for many years.

Upon seeing this, Zhang Yun hurriedly interjected, ”Why are you indulging in alcohol again? Your heart isn’t in good condition, yet you still insist on drinking! You’re in your fifties or sixties now, can’t you control yourself?”

Ning Yibin said cheerfully, ”Okay, I’ll listen to you. Today, whether we drink the alcohol or not is up to you!”

”Hearing you say that, there must be a good reason for tonight’s drink,” Zhang Yun asked.

”Naturally.” Ning Yibin didn’t keep them in suspense any longer and said directly, ”Our son was officially promoted today to a battalion command! The appointment letter has come!”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yun was immediately overjoyed, ”Really? That’s great! We must drink to this, absolutely! I’ll drink less because of poor health!!”

As they spoke, she opened the bottle and poured three glasses, one for each of them, except for An Hao.

”Cheers!”

The three glasses clinked together, and Ning Yibin joyfully said, ”I always knew Qin Jian was going to be successful! There’s a saying, ’A tiger father will not have a dog as a son,’ and I, Ning Yibin, never backed down on the battlefield! I always thought my son would surely do well! And indeed, he has lived up to my expectations.”

”Dad! I’ve just been promoted to battalion commander! And you’re this happy already?” Qin Jian said with a smile.

”Yes! Achieving something noteworthy during peacetime isn’t easy! But you truly deserve this position of battalion commander!” Ning Yibin wasn’t just praising his son; Qin Jian was genuinely outstanding.

”That’s right. Your dad is correct! You have to do well, make your mark in the military! One day your mom and I are still here waiting to celebrate your promotion to brigade commander! And even to army commander!”

”Rest assured! I love being a soldier! I will dedicate my youth and passion to the military!” Qin Jian said and then downed his glass in one gulp.

”Hmm!” Zhang Yun nodded with a smile, involuntarily lifting her hand to caress An Hao’s swollen belly, ”I hope my two dear grandsons will also become outstanding military men in the future!”

An Hao smiled and nodded, ”They will! They will rely on grandpa and dad’s training!”

The family enjoyed a harmonious dinner together.

After dinner, Yan Huan took An Hao out for an early walk, and it was after nine at night by the time he brought her back.

In the living room, Qin Jian and Ning Yibin were embroiled in a game of chess, while An Hao stood by and watched for a while, feeling a bit tired, she went straight upstairs.

She took off her clothes and bathed, and when she came out, she saw Qin Jian lying on the bed, hands behind his head and a smile in his eyes as he watched her.

”How come you came up so quickly?” An Hao said as she dried her hair and walked over.
