Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1279: Chapter 1278 She Is Not Trusted

”I’m in business!” Lin Qiushu didn’t hide it from Gu Shuangshuang, ”I don’t need to go to work, so when I’m free, I play sports. It’s my hobby.”

”In business?” Gu Shuangshuang was somewhat surprised, ”You don’t look it at all...”

”Where can you tell I don’t look it?”

”Because, you completely lack that merchant...,” Gu Shuangshuang realized that her next words might not be appropriate, so she timely shut her mouth.

Lin Qiushu didn’t mind at all and laughed, then continued what she hadn’t finished, ”You completely lack the merchant’s stench of copper, right? That’s what you wanted to say.”

”Haha,” Gu Shuangshuang laughed embarrassingly, ”Yes. It’s not nice to say, but you really are different from other merchants. Would you mind if I ask what business you are in? I

don’t mean anything by it. Just curious.”

”Jade.” Lin Qiushu said.

”What? You mean the jade business?” Gu Shuangshuang thought she had heard wrong.

”Yes. I’m in the jade business,” Lin Qiushu repeated, then said to Gu Shuangshuang, ”I’m only telling you. I hope you don’t spread the word! I don’t want to attract

unnecessary trouble.”

”You trust me this much?” Gu Shuangshuang felt a stir in her heart, an indescribable feeling swirling within.

She didn’t know whether to feel happy or slightly alarmed.

”It’s just a good feeling,” Lin Qiushu glanced around and said, ”Look, the people here are all old, weak, sick, and disabled! It’s not easy to meet someone around the same age. Besides, you seem warm and cheerful, not like you have ulterior motives. Since you asked, I’ll tell you.”

”Thank you, Sister Qiushu! But, I’m really curious what kind of projects are involved in the jade business?” Gu Shuangshuang wanted to know more, but was afraid Lin Qiushu might suspect her motives, so she added, ”Here’s the thing. My mom’s birthday is coming up soon. She just recovered from a serious illness, and I want to give her a gift to cheer her up. They say jade nourishes the person, and I was actually planning to buy some jade, but firstly, I don’t understand it and am afraid of being cheated. Secondly, I’m a poor student and don’t have much money, so I have been hesitant to buy.”

”Aren’t you afraid I might cheat you?” Lin Qiushu looked meaningfully at Gu Shuangshuang, waiting for her reply.

”I’m not afraid! You’re in the jade business, that’s big business! How could you cheat a poor student like me? Besides, you saved my life, why would I worry about you scamming my money?”

”That makes sense. When is your mother’s birthday? My store is at the intersection of Tully Street and Xilia Road, and the name of the Jade Store is Baozhen Jade Store! When the time comes, just come to the store and look for me. If I am not there, just mention my name. My employees will select jade pieces that will satisfy you,” Lin Qiushu said.

”Thank you so much,” Gu Shuangshuang said gratefully.

”You’re welcome. What’s your name?” Lin Qiushu casually inquired, possibly to gather some potentially useful information.

”Gu Shuangshuang! Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself.”

”Hmm. I’ll be staying here for a while, so if you’re also around, let’s play sports together when we have time!”

”Sure!” Gu Shuangshuang agreed cheerfully.

As the sun began to set in the west, Lin Qiushu stood up from the ground: ”I’ve got to head back! See you tomorrow!”
