God's Imitator

After brief consideration, He Xiaojun thought of another new key point:

”Right, compared to the original rules, there’s one more difference: the range of Wealth Voucher values is easier to guess.

”Because the original rules might involve a strange sequence with many possible number ranges. After opening one box, if you can’t use weight to judge, there’s no way to discern the possible value range of another box.

”But this ruleset locks all values to a few nodes related to ’ten times,’ so the approximate value in each box is easier to estimate.

”For example, if each box is filled, it’s 500 Wealth Vouchers, which is a maximum of 500,000.

”If the opponent is a strong player who dares to create their own rules, they’ll definitely carry a lot like ’↑Wheel of Fortune,’ so the average value of Wealth Vouchers in each box should at least fluctuate around 100,000 to 300,000.

”Based on this, it can’t become ten times more because the box can’t hold it, only one-tenth.

”In other words, as long as I open it and find such a value, I can take it away; if it’s lower than this value, I can choose to switch.

”It seems there’s still a chance of winning!”

He Xiaojun was originally quite resistant to playing under this new rule, thinking he’d just randomly take 10 boxes according to the first strategy and leave. But after thinking carefully, he felt this new rule seemed fairly fair. It shouldn’t have any traps buried in it. Under normal play, even if luck was poor, he could still obtain guaranteed returns and wouldn’t come away empty-handed.

Although still taking 10 boxes, he could open more boxes, able to confirm the size of two boxes to a certain extent and take the larger one.

Moreover, the difference between large and small boxes was 10 times, which was quite considerable.

Most importantly, if he discovered any problems midway, he could also choose not to switch anymore afterwards. In that case, the result would be exactly the same as adopting the first strategy.

”I’ve decided to play according to your rules.” He Xiaojun finally made up his mind.

’↑The Empress’ nodded, ”Then choose a box. Make sure to think carefully and choose the one you most want to choose.”

He Xiaojun was somewhat surprised because he vaguely felt that ’↑The Empress’ seemed somewhat eager and expectant, but didn’t know what the other party was expecting.

”I’ll choose the box that represents myself, number 11 ’Justice.’”

’↑The Empress’ seemed somewhat disappointed but still nodded, ”Its ’Mother-Daughter Box’ is number 20 ’Judgement.’

”You can now open box number 11 to check the Wealth Vouchers and then decide whether to switch.”

He Xiaojun opened box number 11 ’Justice.’ Inside were two bundles of 100 denomination Wealth Vouchers, totaling 20,000.

Then he looked toward number 20 ’Judgement’ and reached out to slightly feel its weight: lighter than number 11 ’Justice.’

”The question now is whether to switch...

”Weight can’t serve as a basis for decision-making, after all, some players use 1000 denomination to reduce weight for confusing effect.

”If the opponent really is a strong player, to carry as many Wealth Vouchers as possible, the overall values in the wooden boxes should be relatively high. Compared to the maximum 500,000 that can be carried, 20,000 definitely isn’t much.

”But...

”According to the rules, for any box, another box can be found whose ’Wealth Voucher value is ten times or one-tenth of it.’ In other words, through specific arrangements, they could always point to the ’one-tenth’ box, right?

”For example, set up four types of boxes with 200, 2,000, 20,000, and 200,000. If I choose 2,000, he points to 200; if I choose 20,000, he points to 2,000; if I choose 200,000, he points to 20,000...

”That way, although it still conforms to the rules, as long as I switch, I’ll definitely switch to a smaller box.

”This possibility also exists and is quite high.

”But then again, if set up this way, the total Wealth Vouchers brought out would be much less. Even if we win this round, our overall returns would still decrease.

”Or maybe he’s using this psychology of mine, playing hide-in-plain-sight? Deliberately pointing to the ten times box. If I don’t choose it, it’s exactly what he wants?”

He Xiaojun realized he seemed to be caught in a loop. Thinking this way, he’d never be able to make the correct judgment.

After consideration, he still decided to switch.

At least he needed to see the overall values of these boxes before making better judgments later.

”I choose to switch.”

He Xiaojun opened number 20 ’Judgement’ and found inside were 20 vouchers of 100 denomination, totaling 2,000.

Indeed lighter than the previous box, but also indeed only one-tenth of the previous box.

According to the rules, He Xiaojun also had to additionally take out 200 Wealth Vouchers as the cost of switching boxes.

’↑The Empress’ said nothing, just waiting for He Xiaojun to continue.

He Xiaojun frowned. He chose box number 15 ’The Devil,’ and this time the associated ’Mother-Daughter Box’ was number 19 ’The Sun.’

He still chose to switch.

The former had 2,000 Wealth Vouchers, while the latter actually had 20,000 Wealth Vouchers.

He Xiaojun was somewhat surprised, ”Hmm? Looks like I was overthinking. So there really are situations where switching boxes becomes ten times more?

”I understand. It seems the situation I was thinking of earlier doesn’t hold. It might create new problems. Instead, the current situation is more stable.”

He Xiaojun had originally considered another possibility, which was that the opponent set up a series of numbers like 200, 2,000, 20,000, 200,000. As long as He Xiaojun selected any of them, they would point out the smaller ’Mother-Daughter Box.’

That way, as long as He Xiaojun chose to switch out of curiosity, he would definitely lose out.

But this obviously had problems.

Because all 22 boxes must conform to this rule, and theoretically, the ’Thief’ could check up to 20 boxes.

The box the ’Thief’ chose the first time was random and the ’Sage’ couldn’t control it. If every time the subsequent ’Mother-Daughter Box’ was selected, they chose the one-tenth box, it would cause boxes with lower wealth values to be consumed faster, and the remaining boxes would all be larger.

Moreover, such a series of numbers would likely have quite large differences in weight. For example, even if you changed the denominations, the weight difference between a 200 box and a 200,000 box would still be obvious.

So ’↑The Empress’ actually didn’t prepare such a complex scheme.

He Xiaojun conducted four more actions in succession. Some of the switched boxes were ten times boxes, and some were one-tenth boxes, but boxes with values of 2,000 and 20,000 clearly accounted for the vast majority.

”So many duplicate boxes?

”I understand. He must have hidden a 200,000 box!”
