God's Imitator

If he guessed correctly on the 3rd attempt, or avoided the special number on all of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th attempts, ’↓Hanged Man’ could still win.

”Number 7 ’The Chariot.’”

”The special number is larger than it.”

”Number 8 ’Strength.’”

”Correct guess.”

’↑Wheel of Fortune’ opened the number 8 ’Strength’ wooden box and took out a 100 denomination Wealth Voucher from the top, confirming the correct guess.

”You can also open other boxes to check.”

’↓Hanged Man’ shook his head with some regret, ”No need. Since your rules passed the Gallery’s lie detection mechanism, there won’t be any problems.

”Although I haven’t fully figured out all the details yet, but... you obviously prepared sufficient strategy to maximize your probability of winning as much as possible.

”However, this is indeed more interesting than the original rules. Perhaps if we enter the free battle phase later, we can have another match.”’↑Wheel of Fortune’ nodded, ”Sure, but perhaps by then, the mainstream gameplay rules will have changed again.”

The game time was up, and both sides exited.

[In this round, the ’Thief’ stole wealth from a total of 0 wooden boxes, totaling 0 Wealth Vouchers.]

[’Sage’ has 10,999,100 Wealth Vouchers remaining.]

[Please both parties leave the game room and wait for the next round to begin.]

...

He Xiaojun had also left the spectator room. He was still shocked by that final astronomical number.

”Too exaggerated, earning 11 million Wealth Vouchers in one game!

”Looking at it this way, the two rounds I lost earlier don’t really seem to matter...

”Unfortunately, the sound was cut off midway, so I couldn’t hear which specific numbers ’↓Hanged Man’ guessed, and I don’t know what specific strategy he used.

”So it’s hard to judge whether the final failure to guess was due to strategy or luck...

”Speaking of which, ’↑Wheel of Fortune’s’ game is actually quite suitable for copying.

”Because the rule itself is the ’Number Bomb’ rule, which is very easy to understand. The Wealth Vouchers taken are also very clear: 10,999 vouchers of 1000 denomination, and 1 voucher of 100 denomination. There won’t be any mistakes when placing them in the wooden boxes.

”Any ’Sage’ player can copy this ruleset. They just need to choose a number between ’1~22’ as the special number.

”The only question is, what exactly is the special number that ’↑Wheel of Fortune’ set?

”’↑Wheel of Fortune’ chose to turn off the sound in the room, so there’s no way to determine what exactly the special number is. If I want to copy this strategy, setting different numbers will definitely have different winning probabilities.

”Why must it be set to be guessed on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, or 8th attempt?

”If we temporarily don’t consider guessing more than 8 times, then it means that ’↑Wheel of Fortune,’ after calculation, believes that most strategies adopted by ’Thief’ players will result in guessing the number on the 4th, 5th, or 6th attempt, while the probability of guessing on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, or 8th attempt is lower.

”Only in this way could he so confidently give such rules.

”But ’↑Wheel of Fortune’ must have also decided on one or several special numbers based on this number of attempts that could better coordinate with this ruleset.

”Some numbers definitely can’t be touched, like 11 and 12. These two numbers are the middle numbers of the 22 numbers. Many players in the first round might very likely choose to simply and brutally cut in half.

”If the special number is set to 11 or 12, it might very likely be guessed right away, and then everything would be finished.

”But what about afterwards? Those two numbers can’t be set, so which other specific numbers should be set?”

He Xiaojun could analyze a bit of this game’s principle and ’↑Wheel of Fortune’s’ motivation for designing it, but deeper aspects were beyond his capability.

Just then, the next round of the game began.

He Xiaojun looked and saw that this time it was his turn to play ’Thief.’

Compared to playing ’Sage,’ being ’Thief’ had slightly less pressure. He quickly got up and returned to his game room, waiting for the new round to begin.

...

Five minutes later, the ’Thief’s Door’ opened.

He Xiaojun entered the room and first looked at the player serving as ’Sage’ across from him: ’↑The Empress.’

However, ’The Empress’ in tarot cards actually had a certain difference from the conventional sense of empress. This card’s alternative names were Queen or Holy Mother. The prototype was the grain goddess from mythology, symbolizing fertility and creativity. The card featured elements like wheat fields and forests, representing maternal fertility, abundance, and life control.

This could also be seen clearly in the costume: ’The Empress’s’ costume dress wasn’t noble and magnificent like ’The Emperor’s,’ but rather wore a long dress covered with pomegranate seed patterns and a crown made of stars and wheat stalks, giving a more graceful and elegant feeling with maternal radiance.

He Xiaojun looked at the notice board and found that this time it was also an original rule.

[For any box, another box can be found whose ’Wealth Voucher value is ten times or one-tenth of it.’]

[Such two boxes are considered ’Mother-Daughter Boxes.’]

[’Thief’ can select a box and open it to view the Wealth Voucher value inside. ’Sage’ will point out the corresponding ’Mother-Daughter Box.’]

[’Thief’ can choose whether to switch. If not switching, directly steal the selected box, which counts as one action ending; if switching, directly switch to the corresponding ’Mother-Daughter Box,’ but must pay ’one-tenth of the amount in the switched box’ to ’Sage,’ which also counts as one action ending.]

[If the Wealth Voucher value to be paid is less than 100, no payment is needed.]

[’Thief’ has a total of 10 action opportunities. Each selected box cannot be repeated.]

”Another player who set up their own rules. Are all the players in this game this strong... How did I even get into such a match...”

Seeing the rules set up by ’Sage,’ He Xiaojun felt somewhat troubled.

Because players who dared and were able to come up with rules so early in the initial stage were most likely no ordinary players. Facing such players, he was naturally intimidated by three points.

He Xiaojun’s instinct was to refuse the proposal put forward by ’Sage’ and instead continue using the first strategy to play the game, randomly taking 10 boxes and leaving.

But he still subconsciously read through the rules on the notice board and felt these rules were actually quite worthwhile.

”This seems very similar to the original rules, doesn’t it?

”Both allow opening two boxes, then deciding both sides’ gains through the difference between the two boxes.

”But the biggest difference is that the original rule is guessing size. If you guess correctly, you take both boxes; if you guess wrong, you can’t take either box.

”While the new rule in this room is that you decide whether to switch or not. Either way, you can only take one of the boxes.

”And these two boxes, one must definitely be 10 times the Wealth Voucher value of the other.

”If switching from a 1x box to a 10x box, that would be very worthwhile, even having to pay one-tenth is acceptable; conversely, if switching from a 10x box to a 1x box, that would be somewhat of a loss, but still better than the original rule where guessing wrong means you can’t take either.”
