God's Imitator

Since neither side needed to take away these Wealth Vouchers, He Xiaojun couldn’t see what exactly was in the remaining boxes.

He could sense that something had gone wrong again somewhere, that he had unknowingly fallen into the opponent’s trap again, but he couldn’t figure out where exactly the problem was.

Although he had only taken 9 boxes, due to the different denominations, it didn’t necessarily mean he would definitely lose, right?

And even if he lost, there shouldn’t be such a large gap.

He Xiaojun once again returned to the rest room.

Soon, another round of the game began.

This time He Xiaojun’s identity was ’Spectator,’ which made him breathe a sigh of relief. After two consecutive high-intensity games, his brain was completely overloaded, and he finally got some breathing room.

During these 20 minutes, he could enter the spectator room to check other people’s strategies while carefully thinking about where exactly the problem was in the previous round.

...

After entering the spectator room, He Xiaojun looked around. All these players were ’Reversed’ players. And in a prominent position in the room, there was also a notice board showing the current win counts.

[Upright Camp Wins: 9]

[Reversed Camp Wins: 5]

Seeing this result, He Xiaojun couldn’t help but feel somewhat ashamed.

Obviously, 2 of the wins in the Upright camp were contributed by him, which was why the Reversed camp was clearly behind.

If he could have luckily won those two matches, then the current win count for both sides would be 7:7, still a draw.

The spectators didn’t engage in special communication. After all, they couldn’t speak in this room and could only hold up cards for simple communication, which was too inefficient.

Most players wanted to use this time to think about strategies and didn’t have much desire to communicate.

After the ’Fool’s Game,’ Community 14 had also agreed on special code words in the game, but the problem was that they couldn’t speak in the spectator room of the ’Tarot Game.’

Moreover, due to the distinction between ’Upright’ and ’Reversed,’ at any given time only about one-third of spectators from the same camp would be in the spectator room, so He Xiaojun would have difficulty quickly finding players from the same community.

So he could only first select a seat to sit down, watching the matches while thinking about where exactly the problem was in the previous round.

Five minutes later, He Xiaojun figured it out.

”He hid a large box filled with 1000 denomination Wealth Vouchers!

”No, that’s not right. From the numerical values, he even hid two...”

Although He Xiaojun still couldn’t figure out exactly what arithmetic sequence ’The King’ had prepared or how many Wealth Vouchers were in each box specifically, he could still roughly calculate from the difference.

He Xiaojun as the ’Thief’ had obtained 811,700 Wealth Vouchers. He clearly remembered that at least 5 or more of these 9 wooden boxes contained large-denomination 1000 vouchers.

While on ’The King’s’ side, among the remaining 13 wooden boxes, there should have been quite a few small-denomination 100 vouchers, yet it still reached a wealth value of 1,343,700.

The gap between the two sides was as high as 532,000, which absolutely couldn’t be explained by pure luck.

A wooden box could hold at most 5 bundles of Wealth Vouchers. In the case of 1000 denomination, that would be 500,000.

Considering that He Xiaojun had taken many high-denomination wooden boxes, to achieve this kind of gap, hiding just one wooden box filled with 1000 denomination Wealth Vouchers wasn’t enough. He had to hide two.

But the biggest problem was...

What if these two wooden boxes filled with 1000 denomination Wealth Vouchers happened to be taken by He Xiaojun?

Wouldn’t ’The Emperor’ as the Sage suffer a huge loss?

Or rather, ’The Emperor’ must have made some arrangements to infinitely reduce the probability of He Xiaojun getting these two large boxes...

He Xiaojun had already thought of the reason.

”It’s still weight!

”Although when I was taking the Wealth Vouchers from these wooden boxes, I told myself to take them as randomly as possible, in reality I didn’t...

”After learning about the ’weight’ information, when I was selecting boxes, I still subconsciously incorporated this information into my considerations, except I myself wasn’t very clearly aware of this.

”Because among the wooden boxes I opened, the vast majority conformed to the same characteristic: heavy boxes usually contained 100 denomination Wealth Vouchers, so their value was actually lower; light boxes mostly contained 1000 denomination Wealth Vouchers.

”When I first opened ’The Fool’ and ’The World,’ they conformed to this rule, and afterwards, this subconscious concept was continuously verified and reinforced...

”No, I should say the situation in ’The Fool’ and ’The World’ boxes wasn’t a coincidence. In most boxes, those with more vouchers held 100 denomination vouchers, while those with fewer held 1000 denomination vouchers.

”So lighter boxes were generally worth more.

”After I realized ’weight’ as this key factor, I would subconsciously equate ’light’ with ’high value.’

”So I took many light boxes, which in itself wasn’t a problem. If ’The Emperor’ was merely trying to interfere with judgment and uniformly placed 100 denomination in boxes with more vouchers, then my total wealth value would definitely be higher.

”But ’The Emperor’ anticipated this possibility, so in two boxes filled with Wealth Vouchers that were very heavy, he placed 1000 denomination!

”I don’t know if I touched these two boxes, but even if I picked them up, I very likely subconsciously gave up because of the weight.

”Unless I could predict the opponent’s prediction in advance...

”No, that doesn’t seem to work either.

”Let me go through it from the beginning again...

”’↑The Emperor’ should have created an arithmetic sequence using the ’number of Wealth Vouchers’ in the 22 boxes, then used 100 denomination for those with more vouchers and 1000 denomination for those with fewer. Of course, there were also some special cases mixed in, like ’The World’ which had 109 vouchers, just a bit more than one bundle. This should also be a relatively small number of vouchers, but used 100 denomination.

”But overall, it conformed to the general rule of ’lighter means higher value.’

”Then, in the two boxes with the most vouchers, he used 1000 denomination.

”This way, I as the ’Thief’ had two choices:

”Either prioritize light boxes to get higher denominations, but this would almost certainly miss those two highest-value boxes;

”Or prioritize heavy boxes, which might allow me to select those two high-value boxes, but all the other boxes would be 100 denomination with very low value.

”Moreover, using the first strategy to select 10 out of 22, the probability of finding these two high-value boxes wasn’t high either.

”Using the second strategy, theoretically I could open 20 boxes to check, but under this weight confusion, it would also be very easy to guess wrong and fall into an even greater disadvantage in quantity.

”In short, under this arrangement, the probability of the ’Thief’ finding those two large boxes wasn’t high.

”And ’The Emperor’s’ previous actions, whether pretending to be a novice, deliberately exposing the ’weight’ factor, or reminding me to watch the time... should all have been covering for these two hidden boxes...”
