God's Imitator

He Xiaojun’s heart sank with a ’thud,’ but he tried hard to control himself from making any unnecessary movements, and with the mask covering his face, the other party probably couldn’t see any changes in his expression.

But even so, his heart still became uneasy.

Because the other party spoke with extreme certainty, and moreover, judging from the game scene’s arrangement, this place was full of mystical elements, with the boxes and costumes highly related to tarot cards.

If someone said these things to He Xiaojun in reality, he definitely wouldn’t believe them.

Feudal superstition was unacceptable!

Even if some kind of divination truly existed, it was mostly just mystification anyway.

But in the game, it wasn’t necessarily so.

Because the God’s Imitator who designed this game might very well have hidden some special mechanism in the game, for example, there might be some hint or code word that only players who were particularly knowledgeable about tarot cards could understand.

In that case, players who knew how to use tarot cards for divination might really have some unique advantages.

After all, the game rules had explicitly stated at the beginning:[As you can see, this is a Special Game space full of divinity and mystery. Spiritual players may be able to resonate with the game rules, find the mystical secrets of this game, and predict or even change their own and others’ fates.]

He Xiaojun wasn’t certain about this point either. He could only continue maintaining his original posture, remaining completely still.

’The Magician’ stopped looking at He Xiaojun and shifted his attention to these wooden boxes.

His gloved hands gently caressed the different sides of these wooden boxes, constantly changing positions.

Time passed minute by minute.

Each round of the game only lasted 20 minutes in total. The first 5 minutes were for the ’Sage’ player to set up the field, and the last two or three minutes were for both sides to confirm the ’Wealth Vouchers’ and exit, so the actual time for gameplay was only just over ten minutes.

According to the game rules, if the ten thefts couldn’t be completed, the Wealth Vouchers would be distributed according to the situation when the game time ended.

In other words, if the Thief only stole 8 wooden boxes, they would lose out.

But ’The Magician’ wasn’t in a hurry and remained unhurried.

Finally, he seemed to have confirmed something, then said:

”Tarot cards work through spiritual divination, and between every two tarot cards, corresponding connections and meanings can be produced.

”I choose the second ’theft’ strategy.

”For the first wooden box, I choose ’The Fool.’ This is the beginning and end of everything, representing infinite possibilities.”

’The Magician’ seemed to have finally made up his mind. Without further hesitation, he reached out very decisively and opened the 22nd wooden box corresponding to ’The Fool.’

Inside were 2,100 Wealth Vouchers. After counting them all clearly, ’The Magician’ closed the wooden box again.

He had chosen the second ’theft’ strategy, which meant selecting a wooden box, not taking it away first, but checking the specific amount inside; then selecting another wooden box and guessing whether it was higher or lower.

If he guessed correctly, he would take both boxes away together. If he guessed wrong, he couldn’t take either box.

’The Magician’ continued, ”The Fool and The Chariot represent two important stages of soul growth, from the naive and fearless adventurer to the determined controller.

”The Fool is the starting point of everything, symbolizing infinite possibilities; while The Chariot is the seventh station on the journey, representing the ability to control opposing forces through willpower and achieve phased victories.

”Therefore, I guess that the Wealth Vouchers in this ’Chariot’ are more than ’The Fool.’”

After speaking, ’The Magician’ opened the 7th wooden box of ’The Chariot,’ which contained 18,300 Wealth Vouchers.

He Xiaojun was stunned. Although he still maintained his original posture, trying hard to look like everything was under control, his heart began to race.

”Is it a coincidence?

”Or has he mastered some special method?

”Or, does he really know how to divine? No, no, no, that’s absolutely impossible.”

He Xiaojun didn’t understand what was going on, but this was just the beginning after all. Even if the other party was purely guessing, there was a 50% chance of guessing correctly, so no conclusion could be drawn yet.

According to the game rules, because he guessed the size correctly, ’The Magician’ took away the Wealth Vouchers from these two wooden boxes and placed them in the ’Wealth Income Area’ on the table on his side.

Then, ’The Magician’ continued attempting divination.

”For the second group of tarot cards, I choose ’The Moon’ and ’The Star.’

”They constitute the key stage from subconscious exploration to the rebirth of hope, together depicting the complete journey from chaotic confusion to inner awakening.

”The Moon represents anxiety and the unknown, while The Star symbolizes hope, inspiration, inner peace, and spiritual healing. It is the rebirth and hope after experiencing the collapse of The Tower.

”However, only by passing through The Moon’s trial can one welcome The Star’s hope. Setbacks are more precious treasures.

”Therefore, I guess that ’The Moon’ contains more Wealth Vouchers.”

’The Magician’ spoke in a low, mysterious, yet confident tone while sensing among the many wooden boxes, making inferences and prophecies.

Then, he successively opened the 17th and 18th wooden boxes of ’The Star’ and ’The Moon,’ which contained 1,500 and 15,900 Wealth Vouchers respectively.

He Xiaojun was dumbfounded. If the last time was luck, then what was this time?

He still didn’t say anything, trying hard to remain composed, but clearly, this game had somewhat become ’The Magician’s’ solo performance.

What was worse, ’The Magician’ seemed to have already grasped some trick. His divination became faster and faster, and the accuracy rate was extremely high.

Later on, He Xiaojun’s mind was already completely blank, only watching blankly as the other party continuously took Wealth Vouchers from the wooden boxes.

In the first 7 attack opportunities, ’The Magician’ guessed all the sizes correctly and took away the Wealth Vouchers from a full 14 wooden boxes.

However, just when He Xiaojun’s mental state was about to collapse, ’The Magician’ suddenly lowered his head, seemingly in some pain.

”I’ve used up too much spiritual energy. It seems I can’t continue divining.

”The rest can only be left to pure luck.

”For the next three attacks, I’ll choose the first strategy, randomly selecting three wooden boxes to take away.”

Currently, only 8 usable boxes remained. ’The Magician’ didn’t sense or divine again, but directly selected three of them to take away.

The Wealth Vouchers inside were 8,700, 9,300, and 12,300 respectively.

The ’Thief’s’ 10 thefts were completed, and the final result appeared on the large screen.

[In this round, the ’Thief’ stole wealth from a total of 17 wooden boxes, totaling 170,400 Wealth Vouchers.]

[’Sage’ has 66,900 Wealth Vouchers remaining.]

[Please both parties leave the game room and wait for the next round to begin.]

Players didn’t actually need to take away the remaining Wealth Vouchers in the room. They could just leave directly, and the game would record the relevant numbers.

So ’The Magician’ just looked at the Wealth Vouchers piled on his side and waved at He Xiaojun, ”Goodbye.”

He Xiaojun stood up and left the game room in a daze.

...

Slightly earlier, in the spectator room.

Lin Sizhi, wearing the ’Wheel of Fortune’ costume, entered the room. At the same time, other players also entered through different doors.

These people were all wearing costume dresses with upright tarot card images on their chests, similarly observing each other carefully and observing the situation in the room.
