God's Imitator

The reason Chen Ran made such a choice wasn’t because she wanted to sacrifice herself to save others, but simply like those children driven mad by their parents who jumped from buildings, she had nowhere to turn and chose suicide.

Sending Fu Chen back to the real world was merely a ’byproduct’ of her decision.

Of course, in making the specific choice, Chen Ran must have given it some simple thought.

Although at the very beginning, Chen Ran had been wary of Fu Chen and hadn’t accepted his goodwill, afterward Fu Chen helped all players share their punishments and consistently encouraged everyone with a positive, optimistic attitude, which somewhat touched Chen Ran.

Perhaps she felt that a player like Fu Chen shouldn’t remain in the cruel New World, or perhaps she simply envied Fu Chen’s personality and family relationships, with a mentality of ”live well in my place.”

In any case, among the other surviving inner and outer field players, Chen Ran chose to let Fu Chen become the lucky one to leave the New World. While there were certainly chance factors involved, to a large extent it was also influenced by Fu Chen’s personal charisma.

So the question was:

Even if a similar mechanism appeared again next time, could so many coincidences really come together?

Even if they did, among the players present, who could be certain they could help other players as unreservedly as Fu Chen, thus making some player in the game they’d never met choose to give such a precious opportunity to them?

Therefore, the conclusion was:The mechanism to leave the New World and return to reality existed, but the probability of satisfying so many harsh conditions was so low it could be ignored.

This inevitably made everyone feel somewhat defeated.

Li Renshu said, ”But looking at it optimistically, no matter how remote this mechanism is, it’s still better than nothing.

”We can at least have something to hope for. As long as we survive in the New World long enough, we’ll eventually encounter such an opportunity again.

”At least Fu Chen’s case shows us that in the New World, good people can also be rewarded, right?

”However, I think what’s more worth discussing is why the God’s Imitator who designed the ’Lifting Game’ was able to use this mechanism, and why they put this mechanism into the game.

”What exactly was their motivation.”

Everyone looked toward Wei Yinzhang.

Such questions should naturally be analyzed more accurately by a God’s Imitator.

Wei Yinzhang considered for a moment and said, ”Honestly, I’m also very surprised, because before this, I had no idea such a mechanism existed in the Gallery.

”I think this mechanism should have only appeared with this game invitation. I didn’t receive the invitation, so I didn’t know about it.”

Yang Yuting thought about it, ”But could it also be a privilege only for S-rank God’s Imitators?

”If God’s Imitators below S-rank don’t have the corresponding authority, it would be normal for them not to know this information, right?”

Wei Yinzhang shook her head, ”I’m inclined to think it has nothing to do with ranking.

”If S-rank God’s Imitators had long been able to use this mechanism, we would have encountered similar games long ago.

”Because God’s Imitators themselves are also players and have been wondering if there’s a way to leave the New World.

”No matter who it was, if they discovered such a mechanism, they would immediately put it into a game to test it. They absolutely wouldn’t wait until now.”

Yang Yuting nodded, ”Mm, that’s true.”

Wei Yinzhang continued, ”So I believe this is most likely a new mechanism that was just activated after communities and the Gallery in the New World developed to a certain degree.

”Currently, this mechanism is likely only open for use by God’s Imitators designing elimination-type games.

”I didn’t receive the corresponding game invitation, so naturally I wasn’t able to know about the existence of this mechanism right away.

”But clearly, this mechanism can’t be used at will and is subject to many conditional restrictions.

”The God’s Imitator who designed the ’Lifting Game’ this time was most likely also testing to see if this mechanism could function smoothly.”

Wang Yongxin thought for a moment and asked, ”There’s a question I’m quite concerned about.

”According to the game rules, the ’super authority player’ identity must survive until the end of the game to be activated, and after activation, they can only choose between ’kill one person’ or ’commit suicide and send one person away.’

”Is this rule a restriction made by the Gallery at the fundamental level, or a restriction made by the God’s Imitator themselves?”

Wei Yinzhang quickly provided an answer, ”I think it’s like this:

”The Gallery should have given a relatively vague fundamental rule restriction, such as, to trigger this kind of mechanism, one must ’create enough obstacles’ or ’make enough sacrifices’ in the game.

”And the God’s Imitator, based on this requirement and combined with the specific situation in the game, made some attempts.

”Moreover, the God’s Imitator would definitely test in a ’relatively lenient’ direction.

”In other words, the vague rule given by the Gallery should have wording that’s more severe than the restrictions we actually saw in the game.”

The reason Wei Yinzhang dared to make this judgment was because ’testing the Gallery’ was a God’s Imitator’s nature.

The more excellent the God’s Imitator, the more they would do this. Or conversely, God’s Imitators who didn’t do well in this aspect couldn’t become excellent God’s Imitators.

Wang Yongxin said thoughtfully, ”In that case, can we slightly analyze this God’s Imitator’s thought process when designing the ’super authority player’ rule?

”They likely had three different purposes simultaneously.

”First, since the Gallery allows the use of such a mechanism, they would definitely conduct corresponding tests.

”After testing the specific boundaries and finding a usable pattern that could be consistently applied, they might try to use a similar method to send themselves out of the New World.

”Second, by announcing the ’super authority player’ rule from the beginning, they could destroy mutual trust among players, making it difficult for them to establish cooperation, further increasing the game’s death rate.

”Finally, this rule actually added extra variables to the game. Chen Ran’s death directly caused those audience members who bet on Chen Ran to lose everything, causing the entire game’s final earnings to be reshuffled.

”Although I don’t know the way the God’s Imitator obtains earnings from the game, they certainly earned quite a lot of visa time.”

Yang Yuting lowered her head in thought, ”But... did this God’s Imitator guess from the beginning that Chen Ran would become the final survivor and choose suicide?

”Doesn’t that mean this God’s Imitator was originally in Community 4 or Community 12 and knew Chen Ran or Wu Xiaomei?”

Wei Yinzhang shook her head, ”Not necessarily.

”The God’s Imitator who designed this game definitely saw these players’ criminal files.

”But unlike previous situations, they never announced these files in the game from beginning to end, which meant all players could only guess using hints and reflections in the game.

”In this situation, ordinary players couldn’t possibly guess the relationship between Chen Ran and Wu Xiaomei or predict Chen Ran’s behavior, but the God’s Imitator who had seen the files might be able to guess.

”Suppose Wu Xiaomei’s file stated that she had once sent Chen Ran successively to places like gaokao factories, Internet Addiction Treatment Centers, and electronics factories, and mentioned some of Chen Ran’s simple experiences in these places, as well as the current situation of the mother and daughter...

”Then Chen Ran’s psychological state would be easy to guess.

”After all, players with minor psychological issues might each be different in their own way, but players with serious psychological trauma are most likely similar.

”Of course, this God’s Imitator definitely couldn’t be 100% certain either.

”The mechanism of ’leaving the New World’ is too powerful. The Gallery would inevitably impose strict restrictions. God’s Imitators can’t just use it as they please. They most likely just chose the path they thought had the highest probability of success.”
