God's Imitator

Zheng Jie was somewhat surprised, ”Huh? We’re discussing it now?

”We only have 10 people left now. Shouldn’t we recruit two new players, fill the 12-person quota, and then make a decision?”

Li Renshu shook her head, ”I don’t think that’s necessary.

”New players don’t understand our community’s ecosystem and specific situation, and they haven’t really cooperated with the ’Game Core’ candidate players in games. Their votes definitely wouldn’t be comprehensive and objective enough.

”Adding these two votes might cause incorrect interference with the results.

”But if we don’t let the two new players vote after recruitment, that would obviously be unreasonable. And currently, we haven’t determined the specific recruitment plan yet.

”So we might as well decide on the game core before recruitment.

”What do you all think?”

Wang Yongxin nodded first, ”Mm, I agree.”

Other players either nodded or remained silent.Clearly, community players hadn’t completely reached a consensus on this issue, but overall, more agreed with Li Renshu.

’One person, one vote in the community’ was the community’s most fundamental rule and a rule all players recognized. Something like ’depriving voting rights’ absolutely could not happen.

But the current situation was somewhat special.

Among the 10 players present, most still didn’t want two new players to come in and vote randomly, disrupting the voting results this time.

Li Renshu continued, ”Currently, our existing game cores are Lawyer Lin and Brother Wang. As for the third core, it was originally planned to be selected from among Cai Zhiyuan, Yang Yuting, and Wei Yinzhang.

”Yinzhang made it clear from the beginning that if we really can’t find a suitable person, she can consider serving temporarily. But judging from the current situation, both Cai Zhiyuan and Yang Yuting have performed well, so Yinzhang won’t participate in this vote. Is that okay?”

Wei Yinzhang nodded, ”Mm, that’s best.”

Actually, even if she participated normally, probably no one would vote for her, since she didn’t enter any of these three games.

But the formalities still needed to be observed.

Li Renshu continued, ”So this time it’s mainly choosing one between Cai Zhiyuan and Yang Yuting.

”It’s mainly based on performance in the three games after the ’Shelter Game,’ which are ’Simple Q&A,’ ’Self-Selected Game,’ and ’Lifting Game.’

”To ensure fairness as much as possible, this is what I’m thinking:

”First, as the moderator, I won’t make any statements showing preference.

”Second, the two players will each have a 5-minute time limit to speak, summarizing their own performance and canvassing for votes.

”Finally, everyone will have free discussion. However, as moderator, I’ll guide the topics as much as possible, limit speaking time for both sides, and avoid repetitive speech content.

”If a topic takes too long to discuss, I’ll interrupt and guide toward opening a new topic.

”After the discussion ends, everyone will consider for two days, and then we’ll formally determine the third game core candidate through voting.

”Then in the proposal, we’ll formally adjust ’recruiting in games’ and the corresponding authority.

”What do you all think?”

Everyone nodded. This process sounded fairly formal and didn’t have any major problems.

Of course, as moderator, Li Renshu might have the possibility of guiding topics, but this problem couldn’t be avoided. As long as there was a moderator, it would definitely exist.

Relatively speaking, most players still quite recognized Li Renshu’s impartiality.

But Cai Zhiyuan considered for a moment and proposed, ”I’m inclined to cancel the free discussion phase for everyone.

”Of course, this isn’t to limit everyone’s freedom of speech. It’s mainly that this kind of public discussion might preemptively influence some players.

”Yang Yuting and I have actually already made enough demonstrations. Whether it’s our previous in-game performance or the upcoming canvassing, it should be enough for everyone to make judgments.

”But if there’s public discussion, even if players supporting both sides take turns discussing, differences in wording, rhetoric, or expressions and other details might still have completely different effects on wavering players.”

Zheng Jie was stunned, ”But everyone will still discuss privately, right?”

Cai Zhiyuan nodded, ”Mm, but private discussions don’t matter.

”Even if some players want to win over wavering players, privately they can only do it one-on-one. It’s not like this kind of public setting where they can influence everyone, so the impact is relatively smaller.

”Moreover, both sides can canvass privately, so it’s still fair.”

Li Renshu thought about it, ”Whether it’s public discussion or private discussion, there will be corresponding problems. There’s no perfect solution, so let’s follow the parties’ opinions.

”Yuting, what do you think? If you also agree, we’ll do it this way.”

Yang Yuting looked at Cai Zhiyuan, ”Mm, I agree. I also think everyone should just discuss privately.”

Li Renshu nodded, ”Alright, then this time we won’t set up a free discussion phase.”

This surprised some players a bit, since this situation was relatively rare before.

However, Cai Zhiyuan’s proposal did have some merit.

Many people subconsciously looked toward Wang Yongxin.

If there was public discussion, Wang Yongxin would definitely very decisively stand on Yang Yuting’s side, and as one of the current game cores, his words carried a lot of weight.

Lin Sizhi most likely wouldn’t express a clear attitude, and Li Renshu was the moderator, so to maintain surface-level fairness, she couldn’t directly and clearly support Cai Zhiyuan.

In that case, Cai Zhiyuan would indeed easily be at a disadvantage, so his desire to cancel the public discussion phase was also a natural thought.

Wang Yongxin also felt somewhat regretful, because some words would be very appropriate to say in a public setting but not quite appropriate in a private setting.

If he went around making a big fuss privately looking for other players to canvass for Yang Yuting, it would seem too deliberate and too obvious.

So Cai Zhiyuan’s method indeed limited his influence to a large extent.

But since this was unanimously agreed upon by everyone, Wang Yongxin couldn’t insist further.

Li Renshu looked at Cai Zhiyuan and Yang Yuting, ”Who wants to go first?”

Cai Zhiyuan looked at Yang Yuting, ”Ladies first?”

Yang Yuting shook her head, ”No, you go first. I haven’t quite thought through my wording yet.”

Cai Zhiyuan didn’t insist further, ”Alright, I’ll go first then. Anyway, what I want to say is very simple.

”My performance in ’Simple Q&A’ and ’Self-Selected Game’ should be clear to everyone. I think it’s enough to prove I possess abilities no weaker than other game cores.

”Especially in earning visa time.

”Of course, even if you don’t choose me as game core, I’ll still do my best to help everyone earn more visa time in similar games, since after all, this relates to all our common interests.”
