Journey to Planar World

Charlie didn’t wait long, 30 minutes later, Maruo returned to the VIP room.

This time he was no longer wearing patient clothes, but a formal suit and a white coat. Maruo appeared as a prominent doctor.

”How are the results?” Charlie asked anxiously.

The other party’s answer determined whether he had to carry out Plan B.

”...”

Still expressionless, Maruo stared at him for a few seconds before answering.

”After my blood was tested in the lab, the results showed that my antibodies contain immunity to the MK Virus. In other words, I won’t be infected with the MK Virus anymore, this case is similar to smallpox.”

”Good! Finally, there’s good news!”

Clenching his fist, Charlie couldn’t hide his joy.

”Then, report this to the World Health Organization as soon as possible so that every country can immediately produce the MK Virus vaccine.”

”You don’t need to tell me, I’ve already done it.”

Before meeting Charlie, Maruo had already contacted his acquaintances at the World Health Organization. It’s estimated that the upper echelon of every country already knew about this. It was only a matter of time before the MK Virus vaccine was produced after studying his antibodies.

”Previously… No, forget it.”

Maruo wanted to ask what Charlie did to him before. However, he changed his mind and stopped asking. Even if he asked, he doubted the other party would tell him.

”By the way, do you know where Uesugi Isanari’s home address is?”

”Why do you want to know?”

”Well, his son wants me to check on him.”

”You also kidnapped Uesugi Fuutarou? What’s your purpose in kidnapping him and my daughters?”

Maruo really didn’t understand what was behind Charlie’s actions.

A few days ago, he accidentally met Isanari. The two chatted about many topics, he also knew that Isanari’s son, Fuutarou, was a top student at Asahiyama High School. Maruo asked Ebata to confirm the truth of Isanari’s claims. So he knew a little about Fuutarou.

If he had previously suspected that Charlie kidnapped his daughters to get ransom, then it didn’t make sense if he kidnapped Fuutarou.

”No comment.” Charlie refused to answer as usual.

”Follow me.”

Turning around, Maruo walked out of the VIP room.

”...?”

Although a little confused, Charlie followed Maruo.

As he walked down the corridor, he only saw female medical staff rushing back and forth in a hurry.

Where were the male medical staff?

They had long since fallen victim to the MK Virus infection.

The hospital was so full that it exceeded its capacity. This was evident from the MK Virus patients lying weakly on the cold floor, many of whom had already died but were left unattended, while the rest were dying and could only wait for death.

There was no other choice. The hospital was short-staffed, and the female medical staff were already very exhausted, some even fainted due to overwork.

’This reminds me of the Covid-19 pandemic in my previous life. No, the MK Virus is more deadly than Covid-19. It hasn’t even been 24 hours, but the death toll from the MK Virus is 2.8 billion.’ Charlie thought about this with horror.

Previously, while waiting for Maruo to return, he checked the news on his phone. He was shocked when he saw the statistics of the death toll from the MK Virus.

It should be noted that Covid-19 only caused 16.6 million deaths worldwide over a period of about two years. On the other hand, it hasn’t even been 24 hours since the MK Virus spread throughout the world, but it has already caused more than 2.8 billion deaths. Plus, the people who died were only men!

Currently, the world’s population is estimated to be around 8.2 billion people, with the number of men around 4.12 billion, or about 50.3% of the total population. This proportion shows an almost balanced division between men and women globally. So 2.8 billion men are about 70% of the number of men in the world!

Although men have been isolating themselves at home, Charlie estimated that all men in the world would die within a week if the MK Virus vaccine wasn’t found yet.

”We’ve arrived.”

Maruo’s indifferent voice woke Charlie from his contemplation.

”Father! Wake up, don’t leave Raiha alone… Wuwuwu…”

Standing in front of the door, Charlie could hear a woman’s sad cry from inside the room.

”Could it be…”

Seeing his reaction, Maruo nodded, confirming his guess.

”Isanari died an hour ago. There are a lot of things I have to do.”

No longer bringing up the topic of his daughters, Maruo walked away.

”Wait a minute.”

”What is it?”

Maruo’s footsteps stopped, but he didn’t turn around.

”For the next two weeks, try to avoid crowds. That’s a reminder from me. The MK Virus is just the beginning, the disaster isn’t over yet… This is all just the beginning…”

Maruo wasn’t a target of protection. His death wouldn’t have any impact on the world. Charlie gave him a reminder only because he was impressed by his dedication to caring for the quintuplets even though they weren’t his biological children.

”...”

Without saying anything, Maruo continued walking, leaving Charlie alone.

”Excuse me.”

Sliding the door open, Charlie entered the room. His gaze fell on the young girl with long black hair, who was crying over the deceased blonde man.

”Onii-san, who are you?”

With red eyes from crying for too long, Uesugi Raiha turned around.

”I’m your brother’s friend, Charlie Avalon. My condolences.”

”Does Onii-san know where Onii-chan is? He wasn’t in his room this morning when Raiha woke him up.”

With her naive nature, Raiha didn’t doubt Charlie’s lie.

”Yeah, I know. Fuutarou is currently taking shelter in a safe place to prevent being infected with the MK Virus. He asked me to pick you up.”

It’s a lie if his conscience didn’t feel guilty. Charlie didn’t like lying to little girls.

’The FBI won’t suddenly come knocking on the door, right?’ He thought humorously, remembering a funny meme from the past.

”Really? Can I meet Onii-chan? But what about father…”

Seeing her lifeless father on the bed, Raiha’s heart was filled with deep sorrow.

”Raiha-chan doesn’t need to worry about this, Uncle Maruo will take care of your father’s funeral arrangements.”

Kneeling down to Raiha’s height, Charlie comforted her.

That wasn’t a lie.

The reason Isanari occupied the room even though he was dead was because of Maruo’s special treatment. Otherwise, considering that every room in the hospital was very vital at this time, Isanari would have long been placed on the corridor floor like everyone else.

This was the benefit of having connections with high-ranking people in society!

”Um, I’ll go with Onii-san.”

Wiping her eyes, Raiha didn’t feel suspicious, took Charlie’s hand, and followed him out of the hospital.

Thus, Raiha willingly allowed Charlie to take her without realizing she was being kidnapped like her older brother.
