Not Being a Trainer This Time

Just after evolving, I already created a language system that no one else can understand, belonging solely to myself.

Naoki took a deep breath and continued: ”You should already know what this place is, right?”

Slowking raised its head, glanced around, and its eyes finally rested above.

”If I’m not mistaken, this should be the inside of a giant tree, right?”

”That’s right.” Naoki nodded and then introduced: ”This is the World Tree, the place with the strongest natural aura. I plan to build an Explorer Team Guild here, specifically for Pokemon to live and reside.”

Slowking listened quietly.

Naoki continued: ”I invited you over earlier because I wanted your help to look after the shop here.”

After all, Slowking’s intelligence is very high. Running a shop, making dishes should be quite easy for it, just like it is for humans.

However, upon hearing this, Slowking looked troubled: ”I’m sorry, but I’m not sure how to run a shop because I’m just a Slowking.”

Naoki: ”...”

It seems Slowking isn’t interested in matters related to running a shop?

This swallowed all the words Naoki originally prepared to say.

He hesitated, looking at the confused Slowking before him, and eventually gave up the idea of asking it to be the tavern owner.

”Alright, but that’s no problem. You can settle down here at the World Tree peacefully.”

Apparently, the Heroic Expedition Team will have to find an Oranguru interested in cooking and running a shop.

Slowking looked apologetic: ”It’s really bothering me!”

”It’s no big deal.” Naoki began to comfort Slowking: ”Don’t overthink it, I’m not going to force you to do anything for me. As long as you can settle here, I’ll be very happy.”

For Naoki, a collector, watching Pokemon live and play on his farm, in the World Tree, is the happiest thing in the world, even if they do nothing.

”Thank you, Naoki.” Slowking said: ”Give me some time to think, there are many unresolved questions in my mind, they have been troubling me, I need to research methods to solve these puzzles.”

Hearing this, Naoki was very surprised.

”Puzzles troubling you? Can you tell me what it is?”

Slowking nodded gently.

It looked up to the sky and spoke with confusion: ”Why is the sky blue? Why is this planet born? What’s the meaning of our existence? Why can’t past events change? Who am I? Where am I? What should I do?”

Naoki: ”...”

Slowking repeated again, troubled: ”It’s really bothering me!”

Naoki immediately gave up the idea of helping Slowking solve the puzzles troubling it, because those things are considered only by the Wise.

And he wasn’t a Wise One, he was just a common man.

Thinking of this, Naoki bid farewell to Slowking, leaving it alone by the lake, contemplating life.

After a while, Treecko, Milotic, Tatsugiri, Tropius, Arboliva, and other Pokemon were attracted over.

They surrounded Slowking standing there motionless, contemplating life.

The Treeckos were puzzled: ”Kefka?” (What is it doing?)

Tropius shook its head: ”Wo...” (Don’t know...)

All the other Pokemon looked confused too.

After a while, the Pokemon slowly dispersed, each going about their own business.

But Slowking raised its foot, walked next to a giant rock.

It raised its short leg, clumsily climbed onto it, and sat cross-legged, continuing its contemplation.

Who knows how much time passed.

Three Treeckos carrying berries passed by.

One Treecko looked at the berries wrapped in leaves, troubled:

”Kefka...” (It’s really bad, the berries have been there for too long and are rotten. Such a waste. If there was a way to prevent them from rotting, it would be great...)

The three Treeckos didn’t notice Slowking on top of the rock.

They leaned against the rock sitting down to rest.

The results from the Berry Garden came too fast, and with just a few stomach-hungry Pokemon, it was impossible to finish them.

Treecko initially planned to send more to Dragonite and others, but Naoki seemed to worry they would be hungry and cleared a large Berry Garden on Dragonite Island too.

The berries couldn’t be sent out, the extra berries stored in the tree hole, those stacked at the bottom had already gone bad.

This made Treecko very troubled.

Right then, a voice suddenly rose from behind them.

”If you’re worried about berries going bad, dry the berries to make fruit preserves, store them in barrels to make berry wine or juice, make berry candy, then the berries can be stored longer and won’t go bad.”

Hearing this, the three Treeckos were shocked, quickly got up and turned back.

Then, they noticed Slowking sitting cross-legged on the rock.

The Treeckos were very surprised: ”Kefka?!”

Could those really be true? But why did this originally silly Slowpoke know?

Slowking seemed to see through their thoughts and explained: ”I just thought of those.”

How, how amazing!

The three Treeckos widened their eyes in disbelief.

The Treecko most concerned with the berries quickly asked: ”Kefka Kefka?” (How can we make berries into fruit preserves, make juice or wine, make berry candy?)
