Not Being a Trainer This Time

Milotic would definitely break free from the Poke Ball, then turn around and swim away, disappearing over the lake surface.

Naoki thought so in his heart,

however, at that moment, the Poke Ball floating on the water suddenly stopped moving.

Upon seeing that scene, the onlookers immediately let out a triumphant cheer.

”Yes! Successfully caught it!”

”Mr. Naoki is amazing! He actually caught such a rare Pokemon like Milotic!”

Sato Ken also breathed a sigh of relief.

Compared to that Milotic, the Dondozo and Veluza he caught were somewhat inferior.

It seems the champion of this fishing contest has already emerged.

But this time, he accepted his loss gracefully!

While Naoki’s mind was buzzing, could it be that the Milotic he caught recognized him?!

What is going on?

The Poke Ball containing Milotic was washed to the shore by the waters of Casseroya Lake, and Naoki, puzzled, walked over and picked it up.

Pressing the button on the Poke Ball, accompanied by a flash of white light, the Milotic just appeared again in front of everyone.

It didn’t turn and flee, but gazed over gently.

Three exclamation marks popped over Naoki’s head suddenly.

Could the Poke Ball have a brainwashing function?!

”Milotic?” he tried to call out.

Milotic gazed at the human in front of it, with a hint of curiosity in its eyes.

He had a very strong aura of nature!

Born in nature, Milotic naturally felt an affinity for this aura.

Those chosen by nature cannot be bad people!

Naoki now didn’t have any Translation Nuts Cake to communicate with Milotic, but seeing it seemed to have no intention of leaving, he turned around, preparing to take the Pokemon he caught today for the final evaluation.

The other fishing enthusiasts around looked at that Milotic, their eyes full of envy.

”It seems everyone had a fruitful day!” Mayor Thomas smiled and walked forward, ”So next, let me see what kinds of fish everyone has caught.”

The final results of the fishing competition are judged based on points.

There are further subdivisions, such as ordinary fish being one point, while a Fish-type Pokemon is two points.

If the type of Fish-type Pokemon caught is rare, then the points will be even higher.

The sum of these points is the final score for these contestants.

Mayor Thomas and the judges began checking the fish caught by each contestant.

While it wasn’t his turn yet, Naoki looked down at his catch today.

Three Tatsugiri, two Chewtle, one Slowpoke, a bunch of bass and shrimp, and a Milotic.

Adding these up, they should earn quite a few points, right?

Naoki turned to look at Sato Ken not far away.

He also caught a lot.

Namely, four Veluza, five Magikarp, one Dondozo, and a bunch of ordinary river fish.

”Contestant Sato Ken, the final score is 42 points!” Mayor Thomas checked his Fish-type Pokemon and then announced.

Compared to others, this score was already very high.

Recalling how Sato Ken used his physical prowess to conquer Pokemon earlier, Naoki felt genuine admiration.

He truly is a dazzling Fishing Master!

And at this moment, Mayor Thomas arrived beside Naoki.

After a careful inspection, he smilingly announced the final result:

”Contestant Naoki, the final score is 52 points! By the way, this is the first time someone has caught a Milotic.”

points, a whole ten points more than Sato Ken.

Naoki unsurprisingly won this year’s fishing contest, and received the champion medal awarded by the Fishing Association.

Afterwards, Sato Ken approached Naoki.

”I concede my loss wholeheartedly.” Sato Ken felt genuine admiration.

Naoki: ”...”

”No.” He shook his head, ”I just had better luck.”

Combining Dragon Power and Paldea Seafood Rice, he had more advantages than other contestants.

It is Sato Ken who is the truly skilled Fishing Master.

After hearing those words, Sato Ken smiled and shook his head: ”Sometimes, luck is also a part of strength. I’m really glad to compete with you in today’s fishing contest. If there’s a chance in the future, let’s head into the vast ocean to fish together!”

Compared to inland lakes, the number of Fish-type Pokemon inhabiting the endless ocean is much larger.

To fishing enthusiasts, it is the best fishing spot in the world.

Naoki: ”...”

If they go to sea to fish, he’s worried he might accidentally catch the little Kyogre that Lana had caught.

After all, he’s already witnessed the effects of Paldea Seafood Rice firsthand.

But Naoki still responded, ”Okay.”

Sato Ken then satisfiedly smiled: ”Then when the time comes, let us conquer the sea’s Fish-type Pokemon together!”

The fishing contest concluded, and to preserve Casseroya Lake’s ecosystem, some fishermen chose to release the Pokemon they caught.

And Naoki turned his gaze to the Pokemon he caught.

The three Tatsugiri poked their heads out from the bucket, the two Chewtle clung to the edges of the small barrel stubbornly, while Slowpoke continued to daze out there.

Milotic stood on the grass, looking over.

Naoki smiled and said, ”Thanks for today, because of your willingness to bite the hook, I was able to win the fishing competition. Now that the competition is over, if you want to return, feel free to go back!”
