Not Being a Trainer This Time

League Year 200, March 21, Naoki once again met Larry.

”This is the King’s Rock that Chief asked me to give you, I’ve delivered it.”

Larry was dressed in a black suit, his black shoes slightly dusted and no longer shiny, and there was a trace of fatigue on his young face, making him look quite spiritless.

Upon seeing Larry, Naoki remembered Geeta mentioning how Larry bought goat milk online from his family to stay awake for overtime work.

At this moment, seeing Larry like this, Naoki couldn’t help but say: ”Thank you for your trouble, Mr. Larry, would you like to come in and have a cup of tea to rest for a bit?”

Larry shook his head wearily: ”No, I’ve delivered what I needed to, my work is done, now it’s time to head home.”

After completing this task, he received a three-day paid leave, and next, Larry planned to use these days to rest well at home.

”Alright then.”

Naoki nodded, only able to watch as Larry turned and left.

After all, for a working person like Larry, home is the most comfortable place.

It wasn’t until Larry’s figure disappeared at the end of the road that Naoki withdrew his gaze.

He looked down at the essential item in his hand for Slowpoke’s evolution - the King’s Rock.

The King’s Rock in reality wasn’t much different from how it appeared in games, it was a golden crown, though it seemed quite ancient with marks of time erosion.

This item, likely the crown of an ancient king, serves as proof of a king. Perhaps because it had been shrouded by a king’s aura for a long time, it possessed a hint of a king’s power.

Slowpoke and Poliwhirl can transform into the rulers of their respective groups by absorbing this power.

Now with the King’s Rock, he only needed to find a Shellder willing to coexist with Slowpoke, and Slowking could be born.

Compared to the King’s Rock, finding a Shellder was much easier.

Because Shellder is a very common Pokemon, usually residing in the sea.

Naoki had previously checked with his Rotom Phone; Shellders could be spotted along any coastal area of the Paldea Region.

Conveniently, Porto Marinada Town is near Paldea West Sea.

So next, let’s head to the beach to find a Shellder and help Slowpoke evolve into Slowking!

Naoki found Slowpoke’s Poke Ball and then went to the World Tree to bring out Slowpoke.

”I’m going out for a bit, I’ll be back soon.” Naoki, with the diving equipment he previously bought, informed the Indeedee Sibling about his trip before departing.

”Indeedy~” The siblings nodded, indicating they would take good care of everything.

”I’m counting on you.” Naoki patted the heads of the siblings.

He turned to look around, checking what the other Pokemon were up to.

The Eevees were playing hide and seek in the pasture, Pawmo’s parents were watching over the hens at the Chicken House, Farfetch’d was working out in the Scallion Garden, and the Dragonites had gone out to work.

Most of the remaining Pokemon were playing across the river in Snorlax Park.

After a word with the Indeedee Sibling, Naoki headed to Porto Marinada Town beach with Koraidon and Cyclizar, searching for traces of Shellder.

The sky blue, the water clear, the sun bright.

The vast sea surface was calm, occasionally a few Wingulls flapped their wings across the sea, then folded their wings to rest on the beach.

”Come out! Slowpoke!”

Accompanied by a flash of white light, Slowpoke’s figure appeared on the beach.

It still had its eyes open with a blank gaze, staring ahead in a daze.

After a while, Slowpoke seemed to realize that its surroundings had changed, and it opened its cream-colored mouth.

”Slow?”

Naoki placed the King’s Rock sent by Larry on Slowpoke’s head.

The crowned Slowpoke continued to stare in a daze.

Naoki observed for a while, feeling it was quite perfect.

Indeed, the King’s Rock seemed quite fitting for Slowpoke.

Aside from the somewhat perceptive eyes of Slowpoke, everything else was great.

Next, it was time to find a Shellder compatible with Slowpoke.

Naoki, with Koraidon and Cyclizar, looked around, scouring the beach but unable to find any Shellder.

On the golden sands, apart from a few Wigletts and resting Wingulls, there were no other Pokemon.

Seeing this, Naoki had Koraidon switch to Wave Riding Form again.

Instantly, Koraidon, originally in its Riding Form, transformed once more.

It spread its hands to make them suitable for swimming; its previously curled-up tail unfolded, and the tire at its chest acted as a float.

In its Wave Riding Form, Koraidon stood before the sea, now appearing as a water motorcycle ready to be ridden.

”Cyclizar, wait here for us, okay!”

Naoki embraced Slowpoke, mounted Koraidon, and looking back at the waiting Cyclizar, spoke to it.

”Garrr.”

Cyclizar nodded obediently, envious of how Koraidon could help Naoki with anything.

In comparison to Koraidon, it felt utterly useless.

Even with hard work to get stronger and practice moves, it couldn’t help Naoki.

For a moment, Cyclizar felt uncertain about the purpose of its actions.
