Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 490: Chapter 451: The Truman Show

At this, the three women fell silent and entered the thatched cottage, lying down on the damp ground. Too exhausted to speak, Zhao Rong and his assistant followed suit. And so, the five of them—Zhao Rong, his assistant, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian—stayed together in the same hut.

Although sleeping on the ground was uncomfortable, the group was so weary from their journey that they fell asleep in no time.

In the dead of night, a primitive man sneaked into the cottage. He immediately stripped off his clothes and lunged for Lili. Fast asleep, Lili suddenly felt a weight on her body and her eyes flew open. Seeing a primitive man pinning her down, she immediately threw a punch and screamed, ”Pervert! Catch the pervert!”

Hearing Lili’s screams, Zhao Rong sprang to his feet, grabbed the primitive man, and delivered a savage beating. Afterward, he pinned the man to the ground with his foot and snarled, ”You’ve got some nerve, you lecherous bastard! Sneaking into a thatched cottage in the middle of the night to assault a woman? Didn’t you see there are two men in here, my assistant and I?”

Even though the primitive man had done something wrong, he showed no remorse. Instead, he looked aggrieved and said to Zhao Rong, ”Brother, you people from the future really don’t understand our primitive ways.”

It turned out that when humanity evolved to this tribal stage, the concept of fixed marital pairs didn’t exist. Relationships were quite chaotic, and there was no notion of indecency.

Zhao Rong took out his phone and looked up the customs of primitive people from the Cretaceous period. After he understood the situation, he still gave the man another fierce beating, threw him out, and warned him, ”You primitives can mess around among yourselves, but we are modern people. You will show us some respect.”

With that, Zhao Rong went outside, found a large stone, and hauled it inside. He placed it in front of the doorway to prevent other primitive men from sneaking in to cause trouble in the middle of the night.

After dealing with the matter, Zhao Rong comforted Lili. ”Miss Lili, don’t be afraid. With my assistant and me here to protect you, you’ll be perfectly safe.”

Still shaken, Lili said, ”Thank goodness I woke up in time. If I had been even a moment later, it would have been terrible...”

Yu Lan, lying beside Lili, added worriedly, ”Brother Zhao Rong, I’m so glad we’re modern people. If we women had to live in this primitive era, it would be just too miserable...”

Xuelian also shared her thoughts. ”I really don’t understand what these primitives are thinking. If they keep carrying on like this, how will anyone know who the father is when a woman has a child? Who’s going to earn money for baby formula? Who’s going to be a full-time parent?”

After some discussion, everyone yawned a few times and went back to sleep.

As they slept, the audacious assistant was wide awake, a plan forming in his mind.

With his eyes closed, he thought, Since this primitive society is so chaotic, why don’t I take advantage of this dark, windy night to go out and do something big?

The assistant feigned sleep for a while longer, listening carefully. Soon, he heard Zhao Rong’s snores, Lili’s hiccups, Xuelian’s farts, and Yu Lan’s sleep-talking. Convinced he was the only one still awake, the assistant tiptoed out of the cottage.

Once outside, he immediately saw a primitive woman emerge from a nearby hut. Upon seeing her, he thought, Since this primitive tribe has no concept of marriage, why shouldn’t I go over there and have a little fun with this woman?

A sly grin spread across his face as he walked toward the primitive woman. When he reached the entrance of her thatched cottage, he peeked inside.

But the sight that met his eyes was a shock. The primitive woman was so ugly he could barely look at her, and she lacked any trace of feminine charm. All his amorous thoughts vanished in an instant.

The assistant sighed and began walking back, muttering to himself, ”Thank goodness I live in modern society. If I had to live in a primitive one, I’d rather stay celibate my whole life than get involved with a primitive woman to carry on the family line. These primitive women... they really make you want to avoid making any ’mistakes’ at all.”

However, just as he was about to reach his own cottage, he saw something astonishing in the distance. A motorcycle was struggling through the forest not too far away, and behind it, there was even a car.

The assistant’s eyes widened in disbelief. ”Damn it, no way!” he muttered. ”Isn’t this the Cretaceous period? Aren’t the natives supposed to be evolving? How can there be people riding motorcycles and driving cars nearby?”

As he puzzled over this, he suddenly recalled a Hollywood movie he had seen: *The Truman Show*, starring the famous comedian Jim Carrey. In the movie, everything Truman experienced was a set staged by a director, and everyone around him was deceiving him.

At that moment, the assistant began to wonder. Could it be that this so-called Murder Island, where he, Zhao Rong, and the others had ended up, was also a setup designed by other people? Is someone filming us with a camera, creating a *Truman Show*-like plot to trap us and then livestream it for everyone to see?

Just as he was lost in these thoughts, the motorcycle and the car began heading toward their tribe. Strapped to the back of the motorcycle was a very large camera, and a huge screen was mounted on the car’s roof.

The assistant stood stunned. ”Damn it,” he muttered, ”could these two be movie projectionists? It looks like I was right. Zhao Rong and the rest of us have been set up and brought into a scene straight out of *The Truman Show*...”
