Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Seeing the scene before him, Zhao Rong was about to step forward to intervene, but the boss simply threw the sword on the ground in front of the young man and the proprietress. ”You two should leave,” he said. ”The farther the better. Never let me see you again.”

The onlookers had expected the boss to snatch up the sword and kill the adulterous pair. They never thought he would throw it down and forgive them instead. Zhao Rong was also stunned by the man’s magnanimity.

Xue Lianmei looked at the boss with admiration. ”A man like this is truly remarkable,” she said.

When the young man saw that the big brother not only didn’t harm him but had forgiven him, he immediately kowtowed. ”Big Brother, thank you for sparing my life! I’ll take the proprietress and go far away, I swear we’ll never appear here again!”

With that, the young man reached to pull the proprietress up and flee.

However, before he could even grab her hand, the proprietress suddenly picked up the sword from the ground and thrust it into her own stomach. ”If love between two people is to last,” she recited, ”must they be together day and night?”

The young man watched her commit suicide and crumpled to the ground in shock. He pressed his hands to her wound, crying, ”Jinlian, why would you kill yourself? The boss said he’d let us go, let us flee far away! Why did you do this?”

Covered in her own blood, the proprietress collapsed into the growing pool, mustering her last bit of strength to speak. ”Ever since I poisoned my husband all those years ago, I’ve had nightmares every single night. And it’s always the same nightmare. Today, that nightmare finally came true. I think... I think I should be like the me in my dreams, bravely facing what I’ve done wrong and atoning for my sins.”

The young man lifted her, stumbling toward the exit as he sobbed, ”Even if you can’t forgive yourself, the boss already forgave you! Why do you have to do this? Why torture yourself like this?”

The proprietress had stabbed herself deeply and was on her last breath. Zhao Rong rushed forward, telling the young man to lay her on the ground. ”Don’t bother with the hospital, there’s no time. She’s lost too much blood. Let me save her.”

With that, Zhao Rong took two Dragon Crystals from his robes. He placed them side by side and began to move them back and forth over the proprietress’s wound.

As beams of brilliant light flickered, the blood that had pooled outside her body began to flow back inside. Her wound started to seal, and Zhao Rong gently pulled the Longsword from her abdomen. The moment the sword was fully removed, the gaping wound on her stomach vanished, completely healed.

A miracle had occurred. The proprietress, who had been moments from death, suddenly came back to life.

Zhao Rong looked down at her and advised, ”A bad life is better than a good death. Since you’ve done wrong, you must recognize your mistakes. Besides, the heavens have already punished you. Why must you continue to degrade yourself?”

Hearing Zhao Rong’s words, the proprietress, who had been prepared for death, realized she had been miraculously saved. Amidst her pain, she thanked him. ”Young Hero, thank you for saving me. Although I wished to die, I will never forget your great kindness.”

With that, she reached for the Longsword again.

Seeing her attempt suicide once more, Zhao Rong stepped forward, kicked the sword away, and slapped her across the face. ”Do you think dying will solve anything?”

The proprietress clutched her cheek, her eyes filled with pain as she looked at Zhao Rong. ”It won’t solve anything, but it can be my atonement.”

Hearing the word ”atonement,” Zhao Rong laughed. ”If you truly want to atone, then do good deeds. Help others. Do things that benefit society, the country, and all of humanity. Don’t stand here trying to use the end of your own life as some kind of bargaining chip for so-called atonement. I’m telling you, it’s utterly meaningless.”

Zhao Rong’s words seemed to awaken something in her. She sat there in a daze, staring at the formidable sword on the ground.

Just then, the boss rushed back over. ”If you don’t want to leave, then you stay and I’ll go! I’ll leave you to this pretty boy!” With a flick of his sleeve, he stormed away.

As the boss reached the doorway, the proprietress scrambled over and clung to his leg. ”It’s my fault! Everything is my fault! I’m the one who should leave, not you!”

Screaming, she ran out of the building and disappeared from sight. When the pretty boy saw the proprietress flee, he immediately ran after her.

However, just as he burst outside, a large truck came barreling down the road. It all happened too fast. Before the pretty boy could react, the truck slammed into him, crushing him into a paste. The onlookers gasped and covered their eyes.

Zhao Rong simply shook his head. What goes around comes around. Heaven sees all. Evil is met with evil, and good with good; if retribution has not yet come, it is only because the time is not yet right…

Xue Lianmei sighed. ”That’s karma for you. That pretty boy seduced the proprietress and conspired with her to kill the boss. Now, fate has delivered its judgment, having him killed by a passing truck.”

When the boss saw that his poisonous wife had vanished without a trace and her lover was dead, he let out a long sigh of relief. ”I thought my life was over, but I never imagined I’d get a chance to start again.”

With that, the boss walked over to Zhao Rong and gripped his hand gratefully. ”Young Hero, I truly don’t know how to thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would have remained in a coma, dismissed by everyone as just another vegetative patient from a car accident.”

Zhao Rong smiled at the man. ”No thanks are needed. Saving a life is more virtuous than building a seven-story pagoda. Helping you, punishing evil, and upholding justice... that’s the kind of thing I, Zhao Rong, enjoy doing.”

Standing nearby, Xue Lianmei stepped forward and nudged him with her elbow. ”Brother Zhao Rong, have you forgotten why we came here? We need to find a Heavenly Mountain Magnolia to go back and save a life!”

Hearing her words, Zhao Rong quickly turned to the boss. ”Sir, can you help me find a Heavenly Mountain Magnolia?”

At the mention of the flower, the boss broke into a wide smile. ”If you’re looking for a Heavenly Mountain Magnolia, you’ve come to the right person! Our Li family has a monopoly on the Heavenly Mountain Magnolia business in this area. Forget one flower, I could give you ten thousand of them without any problem!”

Saying this, the boss took Zhao Rong’s hand and led him toward his backyard, which was situated right on the edge of the Heavenly Pool. When Zhao Rong arrived, he was met with the sight of countless Heavenly Mountain Magnolias. Like fields of lavender, they grew in vast, beautiful clusters, an absolutely breathtaking view.

The boss gestured to the enormous patch of flowers. ”Young Hero, take as many as you want. Just pick to your heart’s content.”

Seeing so many, Zhao Rong joked, ”So I can just go wild?”

The boss laughed. ”Yes, both of you! Pick as many as you want, as many as you can possibly carry!”

With just their bare hands, they can pick a hundred or so at most, the boss thought to himself.

However, he never expected Zhao Rong to pull out his phone, open a shopping app, and type ”Flower-Picking Divine Artifact” into the search bar. Instantly, thousands of devices appeared on the screen. Zhao Rong selected the one with the highest sales, which conveniently included free shipping.

Seeing Zhao Rong tapping away at his phone, the boss asked curiously, ”Didn’t I already say you could pick the flowers? You can take as many as you want. Are you telling me you’re still short-handed and need to hire people online to help?”

Zhao Rong shook his head and pointed at his screen. ”I just find picking flowers too troublesome, so I bought a Flower-Picking Divine Artifact online.”

Hearing this, the boss was stunned. ”What in the world is that?”

”It’ll be here any second,” Zhao Rong said, clicking the purchase button and pointing to the sky. ”You’ll see.”

No sooner had he spoken than a Boeing 737 passenger jet flying overhead suddenly dropped a package.

As Zhao Rong watched it descend under a small parachute, he said in amazement, ”Holy crap, no way! The seller must have actually been on that plane. When they saw my order and my location, they realized they were flying right over my head and just dropped the package.”

He picked up the parcel and started opening it. ”The online reviews for this Flower-Picking Divine Artifact are amazing. They say ’with a light press of a button, ten thousand flowers will fly into your pocket.’ Is it really that magical? Well, let’s give it a try.”

He opened the package. The device looked like a helicopter’s propeller, and its construction was quite simple, except for a very large storage bag attached beneath the blades.

Zhao Rong gently pressed the button, and the Flower-Picking Divine Artifact instantly whirred to life. In less than three minutes, it had stripped every single flower in sight, leaving the entire field bare.

When Zhao Rong saw how incredibly powerful the artifact was, he was so shocked he immediately hit the stop button. As he shut it down, he turned apologetically to the boss. ”Sir, I’m so sorry. I was only planning on picking a few dozen flowers. I had no idea this thing I bought online was this ridiculously powerful. It didn’t just pick the Heavenly Mountain Magnolias perfectly and without damage, it took every single flower in sight.”

The boss, seeing the Heavenly Mountain Magnolias he had spent a lifetime painstakingly cultivating get completely harvested in under three minutes by this young man, collapsed onto the ground. He stared at Zhao Rong, utterly speechless.
