Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Lili looked at Zhao Rong, who had just burst through the door. She dropped her kitchen knife and said in disbelief, ”Zhao Rong, did we misunderstand you? Was the man in the assistant’s WeChat video—the one at the foot massage parlor—not you, but someone else?”

Zhao Rong feigned ignorance. ”What are you all talking about? I’m completely lost… I just stepped out to use the restroom and came right back. That’s all.”

Yu Lan tossed aside the mop handle she was holding. She glanced from the ongoing video call with the assistant to the Zhao Rong standing before her, rubbed her eyes, and said, ”Zhao Rong, do you have some kind of Special Ability? How else could you jump out of a video call and appear at our dorm room door, right in front of us?”

Hearing Yu Lan speculate that he had Special Abilities, Zhao Rong immediately played dumb. ”Special Abilities? What are those? Can someone with Special Abilities really jump from a video call into the real world? That’s impossible...”

At his words, Yu Lan immediately ended the video call with the assistant. She rushed forward, hugged Zhao Rong, and said, ”Zhao Rong, I was wrong to accuse you! I shouldn’t have suspected that the man in the video who looked so much like you was actually you… It was just me being paranoid. I’m so sorry, Zhao Rong…”

Just then, Xuelian also walked over. She set aside her high-powered microscope, looked at Zhao Rong, and said, ”Zhao Rong, we’ve been awful. How could we suspect someone as impressive and upright as you of lying? From now on, we’ll trust you implicitly.”

With that, Xuelian also rushed into Zhao Rong’s embrace.

As Xuelian and Yu Lan clung to Zhao Rong, Lili, not to be outdone, performed a front flip right into his arms. She said coquettishly, ”Zhao Rong, from now on, I’d rather believe anything you say than believe that ghosts exist!”

As Zhao Rong held all three women and listened to their apologies, he couldn’t help but rejoice inwardly. Thank goodness for my Instant Teleportation… Otherwise, I really would have been exposed in front of them today…

「Back at the foot massage parlor」

The assistant saw that Lili had ended the video call and immediately thought with grim satisfaction, That kid Zhao Rong is definitely doomed now. Why did he have to show up in my video call and let those three see him? It must be fate. He brought this on himself and has no one to blame. It’ll be perfectly normal for him to get beaten up by the three women when he gets back to the dorm.

The assistant put his phone away, preparing to offer some fake words of comfort to Zhao Rong, who was supposed to be walking toward him. But to his astonishment, he found that Zhao Rong, who had been right there a moment ago, had miraculously vanished without a trace.

Scratching the back of his head, the assistant scanned the area. ”Where did that guy go?” he muttered, searching. ”He couldn’t have just vanished into thin air, could he? That’s not just unscientific, it’s completely illogical!”

Just as the assistant was searching, Huang Xiaojuan, who was on the date with Zhao Rong, came over and asked, ”Assistant, have you seen Zhao Rong? He was just coming out of the restroom a minute ago. How could he suddenly disappear like that?”

The weightlifter pulled the assistant to her side and glared at Huang Xiaojuan. ”Assistant, let’s just continue our date,” she said. ”Don’t worry about Zhao Rong. Whether he’s here or not has nothing to do with us, right?”

The assistant nodded and sat back down across from the weightlifter, and the two resumed their chat.

After waiting for Zhao Rong a while longer with no success, Huang Xiaojuan urged the assistant, ”You’re his roommate. Can you please help me find him?”

”That guy must have seen those three women on the video call and gotten so scared that he’s hiding now,” the assistant explained.

Huang Xiaojuan was unconvinced. ”Impossible. A dominant man like Zhao Rong wouldn’t be frightened off by three women.” With that, she picked up her LV bag and walked out of the foot massage parlor to look for him.

Watching Huang Xiaojuan leave, the assistant thought resentfully, What’s so great about that kid Zhao Rong? Why are so many beautiful women crazy about him?

An evil idea began to form in his mind. He decided to send Lili another video call to report that Zhao Rong was on a date with Huang Xiaojuan. Then, he would create a WeChat group with Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, and Huang Xiaojuan so they could all share information about him. That way, Huang Xiaojuan would realize Zhao Rong wasn’t a man worthy of her devotion.

Pleased with his scheme, the assistant laughed out loud and immediately took out his phone to start a video call with Lili. As the call connected, he thought, Zhao Rong, don’t blame me for being ruthless. You brought this upon yourself…

「Meanwhile, back in Zhao Rong’s dormitory」

Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, and Zhao Rong were drinking champagne and eating barbecue together.

Lili, who was in the middle of chugging her drink and devouring some meat, heard her phone buzz with an incoming video call. She pulled it out and laughed. ”Who’s this clueless fool calling me right now? Can’t they see I’m busy talking, drinking, and eating with Zhao Rong?”

Yu Lan teased her, ”Lili, are you secretly seeing some boy toy behind our backs?”

Xuelian chimed in, ”What’s this? You met a handsome guy and were afraid to tell us?”

Lili looked at her phone. ”What the heck? Why is the assistant calling me?” With that, she answered the call.

Hearing it was just the assistant, the other two women and Zhao Rong immediately lost interest. They went back to drinking from their bowls, tearing into the meat, and chatting loudly.

As soon as the call connected, the assistant urgently blurted out, ”Lili, weren’t you all looking for Zhao Rong? I’ll tell you the truth, that guy is actually here with me! We’re both at a place called ’Beauty Foot Wash,’ a massage parlor across from the sports college. The only difference is, I’m on a date with that ugly weightlifter, while he’s on a date with the D-cup beauty, Huang Xiaojuan!”

When Lili heard this, she turned to look at Zhao Rong sitting right across from her. Feigning surprise, she asked the assistant, ”What did you say? Are you telling me that Zhao Rong is at the foot massage parlor with you right now, and not somewhere else?”

The assistant nodded emphatically. ”That’s right! Just a minute ago, right when you called me last time, that guy had just come out of the restroom here. He even appeared in my video! But now, a minute later, he’s vanished. I don’t know where he’s hiding. But I can say with absolute certainty that he is not at the sports college, and he’s definitely not in the dorm! He is here at the foot massage parlor on a date with the beautiful Huang Xiaojuan!”

Hearing the assistant’s claims, Lili glanced at Zhao Rong, who was still casually eating and drinking with everyone. She questioned the assistant, ”What makes you so sure Zhao Rong is with you? Couldn’t he be here with us?”

The assistant let out a loud laugh. ”Impossible! That guy doesn’t have Special Abilities or wings. How could he fly from the massage parlor back to the dorm in an instant?” He continued, ”Lili, you have to believe me. If I’m deceiving any of you, may I be struck down by lightning!”

At that moment, Yu Lan came over. She took the phone from Lili and said into the video call, ”Assistant, are you absolutely sure that Zhao Rong isn’t in the dorm right now but is at the foot massage parlor on a date with Huang Xiaojuan?”

The assistant nodded frantically. ”Absolutely! He is definitely at the massage parlor!”

Yu Lan looked at Zhao Rong, who was drinking with them in the dorm, and deliberately asked, ”And what if Zhao Rong really is here with us in the dorm right now?”

The assistant’s head shook back and forth like a bobblehead. ”Impossible! That could only happen if the sun rose in the west.” He then added gleefully, ”Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, you have to believe me! I may be a coward, and maybe even a bit greedy… but when have I ever lied? When have I ever deceived anyone?”

Before the assistant could finish his sentence, Yu Lan suddenly turned the phone’s camera toward Zhao Rong, who was in the middle of linking arms with Xuelian to drink.

When the assistant saw the familiar figure, his face went pale with shock. ”Yu Lan,” he stammered, ”that man in your dorm… he couldn’t be Zhao Rong’s twin brother, could he? An older or younger one?”

Clearly, not even the threat of death could make the assistant believe that Zhao Rong had suddenly appeared in the dormitory.

Yu Lan replied mockingly, ”Assistant, stop spouting nonsense and trying to frame an innocent person. If you don’t believe the man sitting here is Zhao Rong, then go on, talk to him yourself.”

Hearing this, the assistant demanded, ”Give him the phone! I need to talk to him directly. I don’t believe this is the real Zhao Rong. He must be an imposter! I’m going to ask him a few critical questions. Only the real Zhao Rong could possibly answer them. If he’s a fake, he’ll definitely be stumped.”

With that, the assistant prepared to expose the imposter’s lies.
