Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Zhao Rong explained to Xue Lianmei, ”Once I activated the world’s most precise Beidou positioning system, the seller immediately got my location. Then, they put the package into a device called the ’Express Cannon,’ clicked ’launch,’ and it was delivered to us at the speed of a missile…”

Before Zhao Rong could even finish, a package attached to a parachute drifted down and landed gently at his feet. Xue Lianmei quickly detached the parachute and hugged the package excitedly. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I never knew shopping on Taobao was this convenient! I thought they might use planes, cars, or maybe even drones, but I never imagined there’d be something as incredible as an Express Cannon!”

As Zhao Rong unwrapped the package, he said, ”With the economy developing and technology advancing every day, new innovations are constantly emerging. Delivery methods will only get faster, more precise, and more powerful.”

Xue Lianmei stared at the contents of the opened package in surprise. ”Brother Zhao Rong, are you sure this machine you bought online is a ’Tianshan Snow Lotus Authenticity Tester’?”

Zhao Rong picked up the device, examining it while he skimmed the manual. ”There’s no problem. Are you suspicious just because it looks a bit like a miniature water dispenser?”

Xue Lianmei nodded frantically, her expression full of disbelief. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I don’t think it *looks a bit* like a water dispenser. I think it *is* a water dispenser!” As she spoke, she placed her bottle of mineral water on top of the device and pressed the ’heat’ button.

After finishing the manual, Zhao Rong smiled and explained, ”Xue Lianmei, you’re mistaken. This machine only *looks* like a water dispenser. Its actual function is to be a Tianshan Snow Lotus Authenticity Tester.” With that, he placed a petal from the Tianshan Snow Lotus under the spout and gently pressed the dispense button. A drop of water fell onto the petal, and an automated voice immediately announced, ”Good day, sir. Analysis complete. This Tianshan Snow Lotus is authentic.”

Hearing that the flower was real, Zhao Rong let out an excited ”Yeah!” and pulled out the packet of seeds. He placed the seeds under the tester and said to Xue Lianmei, ”See, Xue Lianmei? The Tianshan Snow Lotus we got is the real deal…”

Before he could finish, the machine’s voice cut in. ”Good day, sir. Analysis complete. This packet of Tianshan Snow Lotus seeds is also authentic.”

Seeing that both the flower and the seeds were genuine, Zhao Rong said joyfully to Xue Lianmei, ”Our trip wasn’t for nothing! Now, we can use Instant Teleportation to get back to the dormitory at the sports college.”

Hearing this, Xue Lianmei threw her arms around him and kissed his forehead. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I knew you were a super bodyguard! There’s nothing in this world you can’t do, no mission you can’t complete, and no Tianshan Snow Lotus you can’t find!”

Zhao Rong hugged her back and teased, ”Easy there, Xuelian. The way you’re talking, you make me sound like some kind of womanizer.”

Xuelian closed her eyes and murmured, ”Brother Zhao Rong, since our mission is done and we’re all alone out here… can we… start?”

Zhao Rong replied instantly, ”Of course! We can start the Instant Teleportation right now.” As he spoke, he initiated the process.

But when Xue Lianmei saw him begin the teleportation, she said indignantly, ”Brother Zhao Rong! I meant that since we’re a man and a woman all alone out here, we could do something… fun… not start the Instant Teleportation!”

When Zhao Rong finally understood what she meant, he slapped his forehead in regret. ”Xue Lianmei, why didn’t you say so more clearly? I definitely wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to teleport away!”

But it was too late. Just as he was about to cancel the Instant Teleportation, planning to sleep with Xue Lianmei under the stars with the sky for a blanket and the Gobi Desert for a bed, they materialized in the women’s dormitory at the sports college.

When Xue Lianmei opened her eyes to the familiar surroundings of the dorm room, she said with regret, ”Oh, well… Maybe next time we get a chance, we can…”

Zhao Rong tucked the Tianshan Snow Lotus and its seeds under the bed. ”It’s alright, Xue Lianmei. So we didn’t have time for fun while we were getting the Tianshan Snow Lotus… but don’t we still need to find the Tianchi Yulan Flower? We can… enjoy ourselves while we’re looking for that.”

Before he could finish, Lili murmured, half-conscious, ”Brother Zhao Rong… Xue Lianmei… could you two maybe hold off on… enjoying yourselves… until after you get the flower and save us? You can always do it later…”

Hearing Lili’s voice, Zhao Rong said awkwardly, ”Lili, you weren’t completely unconscious? You heard everything we just said? This is…”

Lili rolled over. ”I don’t know. I just woke up suddenly and heard you talking.”

Just then, Yu Lan also regained consciousness. Her expression was weak and pained as she said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, when you go to Tianchi to get the Yulan Flower, could you take me and Lili with you? I’m afraid that if you leave us two here alone, we won’t be able to protect ourselves if a bad guy breaks in…”

Hearing Yu Lan’s plea, Zhao Rong had to admit she had a point. He opened the Magic Ring and said to her and Lili, ”You’re right. We’re a team. We should definitely stick together.” With that, he carefully placed both Yu Lan and Lili inside the Magic Ring.

After settling them, Zhao Rong wiped the sweat from his brow and turned to Xue Lianmei. ”Time waits for no one. Let’s continue with the Instant Teleportation and go find the Tianchi Yulan Flower.”

Xuelian walked over, took his hand, and murmured, ”Brother Zhao Rong, I was thinking… if it were just the two of us going to Tianchi to find the flower, we might have had a chance to… have some fun. But now you’ve put Lili and Yu Lan in your Magic Ring. With our two ’sisters’ along for the ride, I don’t think we would dare, even if we had the time, space, and opportunity.”

Zhao Rong scratched the back of his head, confused. ”Why not? Lili and Yu Lan are unconscious most of the time anyway.”

However, before he could finish, he heard two voices chatting from inside his Magic Ring.

It was Lili speaking to Yu Lan. ”Sister Yu Lan, that was a brilliant move.”

Yu Lan chuckled. ”I had to be. Otherwise, if we two sisters just waited here, we’d have no control over what might happen between Xuelian and Zhao Rong.”

Lili sounded pleased. ”So that’s why you found a way to make him bring us along in the Magic Ring! Now we can supervise him and Xuelian, right?”

Yu Lan nodded seriously. ”Exactly, Sister Lili. Even though we’re both weak and might pass out, we have to take turns. We’ll keep watch over Zhao Rong and Xuelian in shifts to make sure nothing… happens between them.”

Hearing this, Lili gave Yu Lan a mental thumbs-up. ”Sister Yu Lan, you’ve really thought of everything. That’s exactly what we’ll do.”

After listening to their entire conversation, Zhao Rong sighed and looked up at the ceiling before turning to Xuelian. ”Well, Xuelian,” he said, ”man proposes, God disposes.”

Xue Lianmei also sighed deeply. ”As they say, for every foot the righteous climb, the devil climbs ten. I knew our sisters would try to monitor us, but I never imagined they’d resort to playing the damsel in distress—such an outrageous trick—just to watch our every move. It seems that no matter how much I want to… have a moment with Brother Zhao Rong, it’s impossible now.”

Zhao Rong placed his hands on Xue Lianmei’s shoulders and looked deep into her eyes. ”Xue Lianmei,” he said earnestly, ”please close your eyes. I’m going to start the Instant Teleportation.”

Hearing his words, Xue Lianmei promptly closed her eyes. But as she did, Zhao Rong didn’t begin the teleportation. Instead, he leaned in and gently kissed her forehead.

When she felt the kiss, Xue Lianmei’s eyes fluttered open. She looked at him and whispered, ”Brother Zhao Rong, didn’t you say you were going to teleport? Why did you kiss…”

Zhao Rong quickly cut her off. He found a pen and paper and scribbled a note: *Lili and Yu Lan are listening in from the Magic Ring, but they can only hear what we say. If we speak in code or use euphemisms, they won’t be able to figure out what we’re really doing.*

Reading his note, Xue Lianmei immediately understood. She let out a small laugh. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I see what you mean.”

With that, Zhao Rong pulled her into a tight embrace. But just as they were locked together, ready for their next move, he accidentally triggered the Instant Teleportation. Before they could even speak, they vanished and reappeared in an unfamiliar place.
