Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 821: Chapter 817: A Terrifying Feeling

Initially, to be honest, this bet was not very fair to Huo Sining.

The box of items was brought in by Qiao Zhenhuan’s staff, and Qiao Zhenhuan claimed that except for the plump woman named Liu Yanhong, no one else knew their authenticity.

Such words might fool a child, but Huo Sining certainly didn’t believe it at all.

However, Huo Sining didn’t care much about Qiao Zhenhuan’s cheating behavior.

Since Qiao Zhenhuan wanted to bet, she would play along. Winning under such disadvantaged circumstances would truly shock him, making this overseas PhD lose without argument and never dare to gossip about her again!

Director Bai was also somewhat dissatisfied with this bet set up by his nephew. Such a blatant and deceitful bet, how could Qiao Zhenhuan even propose it? Director Bai felt he probably misjudged the person. With Qiao Zhenhuan’s narrow mind and vision, he might not go far in the antiques circle.

However, what surprised Director Bai was that Huo Sining actually agreed.

Such a bet clearly put Huo Sining at a disadvantage, but she agreed without hesitation. While Director Bai was shocked, he also became very interested in the bet.

Of course, he was not interested in the outcome of the bet, but rather in where Huo Sining got the confidence to agree to such an impossible bet.

Although Huo Sining’s appraiser was Zhou Shitao, Director Bai still had some doubts about her skills. Now that she agreed so calmly, Director Bai became curious and didn’t stop her but instead had Liu Yanhong push the box over.

Qiao Zhenhuan indeed knew that some items in the box were fake, but not each one. Nonetheless, knowing this gave him an assurance and he didn’t think he would lose to Huo Sining.

Both held a writing board, and as per Director Bai’s instructions, they just needed to write their answers on the boards and then reveal them.

But after receiving the writing board, Huo Sining didn’t hold the board in her hand.

After the bet was announced, a mischievous idea came to Huo Sining’s mind. She looked at Qiao Zhenhuan across from her, and a sly smile appeared at the corner of her mouth before reaching into the box of items.

Intentionally acting gentlemanly, Qiao Zhenhuan gestured for the lady to go first, pretending to be genuine in letting Huo Sining start.

Unexpectedly, by letting her go first, he really gave Huo Sining an opportunity. Huo Sining had no intention of giving him any chance. After feeling the items in the box, she suddenly raised her eyes and began swiftly sorting through the pieces.

”This is fake. There were no pomegranate vases in the Song Dynasty, and the shape of this porcelain doesn’t match historical records.”

”This is genuine. Upper-class purple-red glaze, Ming imitation of Song Jun Porcelain, grand in style, with a purple mouth and iron foot, shades of purple-red with blue, natural tear streak patterns, and the rust flower is beautiful!”

”This is fake. The base was added later, the glaze color below has a fracture, and the repairs are too obvious.”

”This is fake too, it hasn’t been out of the kiln for more than a month and still has the smell of fire. The light from firing is too bright, although the firing is good, the glaze painting is substandard.”

”This one is fake as well...”

Huo Sining raised an eyebrow and almost in one breath sorted through the entire box, splitting the real ones into a heap together and the fakes on the other side.

Qiao Zhenhuan’s gentlemanly gesture was still frozen in the air, and he hadn’t recovered when Huo Sining’s appraisal was already finished.

She raised her eyebrows at Qiao Zhenhuan and smiled, ”Do you want to continue?”

Director Bai and Liu Yanhong beside them were dumbfounded, their eyes wide like ox eyes, mouths agape in astonishment, almost able to fit an egg inside.

Qiao Zhenhuan was also taken aback, staring at Huo Sining with an expression of astonishment.

At this moment, their shock was understandable only among the three of them.

Previously, when Huo Sining mentioned that the Yue Kiln Celadon felt off, Director Bai didn’t say anything, but he was somewhat skeptical of her appraisal, thinking her claim was too vague and lacked evidence to convince him.

But now, he finally understood what Huo Sining meant by feeling.

With just a gentle touch, she could determine the authenticity of the items. Her appraisal skill could only be described as extraordinary.

Qiao Zhenhuan didn’t understand, but Director Bai and Liu Yanhong knew well that except for the Ming imitation Jun Porcelain, all other items in the box were fake. These were swapped by the museum’s greedy insiders during work hours.

Although these fakes were not as exquisite as the Yue Kiln Celadon, they were still crafted with effort, almost deceiving several experts upon discovery, only being identified after instrument testing.

Yet now, Huo Sining, without any tools, could casually discern the authenticity by just feeling them.

If it had been one or two items, it could be said that Huo Sining guessed, but she identified everything in the box correctly. She even determined the origins of the genuine items and the flaws in the forgeries flawlessly, which couldn’t be done by luck alone.

After a long pause, Director Bai took a deep breath and asked, ”Is this what you meant by feeling, Miss Huo?”

Huo Sining smiled without saying a word, and Director Bai didn’t need her answer. The answer had been evident when she appraised the items in the box.

In this world, some people are blessed with natural advantages. These individuals are favored by God, possessing gifts that are felt rather than taught, unattainable through learning.

”Miss Huo wins this bet.” Director Bai sighed with emotion, ”I finally understand why Mr. Zhou values Miss Huo so highly. With such an excellent student, Mr. Zhou’s vision and luck are truly enviable.”

Director Bai knew well that Zhou Shitao only took Huo Sining as a student for half a year. It was impossible to achieve such a level of skill from a blank slate in just half a year. There was only one possibility, she had such skills even before becoming Zhou Shitao’s disciple.

No wonder Zhou Shitao accepted her as his closed-door disciple. With such an extraordinarily talented student, not only Zhou Shitao, even Director Bai would want to accept such a student too.

It’s just that he didn’t have Zhou Shitao’s luck.
