Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 815: Chapter 811: Su Lan is My Brother

Su Lan was angry, but he soon realized he was gravely mistaken.

After driving Gu Xu out of the room, Su Lan deliberately stayed close to his sister while talking to Huo Sining. As a result, he noticed that he might have misunderstood the situation.

The aura around Huo Sining hadn’t changed, proving she was still an innocent girl. In other words, despite spending a night together, nothing had happened between the two of them!

This realization left Su Lan both shocked and somewhat incredulous.

Having a delicate beauty in his arms, even Su Lan couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t misbehave. Yet, this guy named Gu managed to control himself entirely, doing nothing—his self-discipline was truly impressive.

After these two incidents of conflict, Su Lan had come to somewhat approve of Gu Xu as a person internally, though he would never admit it aloud. Now, knowing Gu Xu had not crossed any boundaries with his sister, Su Lan felt a sense of relief.

Thinking about how Gu Xu held his beloved woman through the night, on the brink of losing control, Su Lan found the situation amusing and began to feel a bit sympathetic towards him.

”Have you decided it’s him?”

Su Lan heard his own low sigh and turned to Huo Sining, asking seriously.

Huo Sining looked up and cast a glance at Gu Xu, who was waiting anxiously outside the door. Seeing the gentle smile mixed with joy on Gu Xu’s handsome face, a feeling of softness and inexplicable peace settled in her heart.

She nodded lightly at Su Lan without any hesitation.

At that moment, Huo Sining heard the sound of her own heart settling. She realized that her previous struggles and resistance had been nothing but pretenses. Deep down, she had already accepted her relationship with Gu Xu.

Su Lan’s expression was complex, but eventually, a look of helplessness and affection flashed through his deep black eyes, and he nodded slightly in compromise.

However, as soon as he turned around, the smile on his face disappeared, replaced by a cold look in his eyes as he stared at Gu Xu, saying fiercely:

”You’re lucky this time, but don’t think just because my sister has accepted you, everything will go smoothly. You may have passed my test, but dealing with the old stubborn members of the Su Family won’t be that easy. Without the proper traditions and formal proposals, do you think you can just bring my sister home this easily? You’ve got a long way to go!”

Proud and disdainful, Su Lan gave Gu Xu a cold, heavy humph before turning his back and leaving.

Gu Xu was baffled by Su Lan’s words, scratching his head in confusion. He was secretly pleased, but in front of Huo Sining, he put on an angry face and said:

”What does this Su guy mean? Does he still want to fight me? Bring it on, he thinks I’m afraid of him?”

Seeing Gu Xu pretending, Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh: ”Alright, stop acting. He’s gone. Who are you going to fight with?”

Hearing Huo Sining’s words, Gu Xu immediately became serious. He rushed into the room, holding Huo Sining tightly, and said:

”Darling, did that Su guy say anything bad about me after I left? I’m telling you, he’s just trying to stir things up and ruin our relationship. Don’t believe anything he says. He’s definitely up to no good.”

Earlier, Su Lan had insisted on talking to Huo Sining and deliberately asked Gu Xu to leave. Although Gu Xu left as Huo Sining asked, he held a grudge. Now that Su Lan was gone, he seized the opportunity to complain.

Huo Sining understood Gu Xu’s intentions and knew he was taking revenge on purpose. She lifted her head and gave Gu Xu a pointed look, saying slowly: ”You think he’s up to no good?”

Gu Xu had been waiting for Huo Sining to say this and immediately nodded, analyzing the situation: ”Yes, look, he’s even more beautiful than a woman. You can tell he’s a playboy. Also, he calls himself your fiancé and then calls you sister. This kind of guy loves using sweet words to trick girls. It’s a common tactic of those experienced in romance, and young girls fall for it every time.”

Huo Sining still wore a smile, but she spoke each word slowly and clearly, ”Su—Lan—is—my—brother.”

”Even if he’s your brother, he’s still a playboy—uh—?”

Gu Xu intended to say more bad things about Su Lan, but he began to feel something was off. His mocking smile froze. He looked up sharply, staring at Huo Sining with wide eyes, ”What did you just say?”

Huo Sining smiled: ”I said Su Lan is my brother. What’s the problem?”

Gu Xu let out a dry laugh, but inside he was wailing.

What’s the problem? Of course, there’s a big problem! He had made such a fool of himself. He had fought with Su Lan twice, and now Huo Sining told him that Su Lan was her brother. Wasn’t this a huge pitfall? He was screwed!

Gu Xu felt as if everything went dark and thought to himself, ”Oh no, I’ve offended my brother-in-law. Can I still marry my beloved? No wonder Su Lan had always looked at him with disdain and left those unfathomable words. Was he planning to settle scores later?”

”What’s going on? Isn’t Su Lan the one you saved from the sea? How did he become your brother? Are you sure there’s no mistake? Couldn’t he be a con artist?”

Gu Xu was unwilling to accept the truth and thought the situation was too absurd to be real.

Huo Sining didn’t want to delve into the details as she found the situation too bizarre. From the moment she heard Su Lan’s strange story, her mind had been in turmoil, unable to fully comprehend it.

However, one thing Huo Sining was sure of was that Su Lan hadn’t lied to her. After receiving the Water-Repelling Pearl, she became very sensitive to people’s emotions and facial expressions. The emotions and fluctuations in Su Lan’s voice when he spoke felt genuine, indicating he was telling the truth.

But this whole thing was too absurd. Huo Sining knew that even if she explained, Gu Xu wouldn’t believe her. So, she casually brushed it off and changed the topic to divert Gu Xu’s attention.

Gu Xu noticed that Huo Sining didn’t want to talk about the matter and, seeing the look in her eyes, changed the subject accordingly. Still, he remained doubtful and decided he would investigate once they returned to the Imperial Capital.

He was very suspicious of Su Lan. If Su Lan turned out to be a good person, so be it. But if he had any plans to hurt his beloved, Gu Xu wouldn’t let him off easily!
