Urban Martial Saint

Having fallen to such a state, the Northern Martial Zen had no power to resist and could only accept his fate.

”This move isn’t the Blood Descent from Southeast Asian Sorcery, but a secret I stumbled upon,” the Northern Martial Zen said in a deep voice. ”I don’t even know the true nature of this secret, it’s just a fragment of an ancient scroll, mostly lost and damaged, with only this mnemonic chant left intact, which I used just now. It depletes one’s blood and lifespan, granting immense power for a short time.”

”I saw the power you wielded just now, it seemed to have reached the level of the Five Unmatches of the World!” Prince Wan Yan said, taking a deep breath. ”What is this secret technique, how can it possess such power?”

The Northern Martial Zen shrugged and said, ”Though I’ve learned this move, I don’t know its true origin. Moreover, you saw the extent of the depletion when I used it. Almost all my Inner Strength is exhausted, and most crucially, using this technique takes at least two or three years off my lifespan. Unless I’m absolutely desperate, I don’t want to use it, it’s a life-preserving move!”

Prince Wan Yan looked at the Northern Martial Zen. At this moment, the Northern Martial Zen indeed appeared much older, almost like a different person compared to before. This move depleting one’s lifespan is truly troublesome. Otherwise, if he could maintain powerful strength without much depletion, wouldn’t the Northern Martial Zen have become as skilled as the Five Unmatches of the World?

”Hmph, who would’ve thought you’d be so lucky to learn such a move!” Prince Wan Yan glared at the Northern Martial Zen for a while, speaking in a deep voice, ”Teach me this technique, and hand over that fragment as well, then our problems end here, and I won’t trouble your family anymore!”

The Northern Martial Zen clenched his teeth, unwilling to give in. But now, he had no other choice. With his strength exhausted, he couldn’t possibly confront Prince Wan Yan!

”What’s wrong? Are you unwilling to speak?” Prince Wan Yan sneered coldly, staring at the Northern Martial Zen. ”Northern Martial Zen, you’ve already failed this time, there’s no need to be so defiant. I advise you to speak quickly, or else, if you irritate me, I’ll still kill your descendants. I have limited patience!”

Prince Wan Yan’s threat left the Northern Martial Zen unable to respond. He knew very well if he revealed this secret technique, it would be his end, as Prince Wan Yan definitely wouldn’t spare him. Given his current state, it would take at least five to six hours to regain his strength, a duration he simply couldn’t endure.

”Northern Martial Zen, you’re testing my patience!” Seeing that the Northern Martial Zen still wouldn’t speak, Prince Wan Yan walked slowly to him, saying coldly, ”It seems I need to show you a lesson. Are you trying to buy time? Hah, then I’ll extinguish your hopes first.”

With that, Prince Wan Yan reached out towards the Northern Martial Zen’s Qihai Acupoint at the Dantian area. For those who cultivate Inner Strength, this acupoint is the source of Inner Strength and extremely important. If the Qihai Acupoint is ruined, a person’s martial skills are completely abolished, leaving them useless. Prince Wan Yan’s move was cruel, intending to thoroughly cripple the Northern Martial Zen, leaving him no chance to recover.

Seeing the situation, the Northern Martial Zen was greatly shocked. However, utterly exhausted, he could only feebly move aside a few steps, but it was utterly meaningless. How could he now stand up to Prince Wan Yan at his full strength?

Just as Prince Wan Yan’s finger was about to touch the Northern Martial Zen’s Qihai Acupoint, Prince Wan Yan suddenly widened his eyes, swiftly turned to dodge, as at that moment, a long saber slashed over, landing precisely where Prince Wan Yan had been standing. If Prince Wan Yan hadn’t dodged in time, he would’ve been split in two!

Prince Wan Yan dodged upon hearing a sound, showing he was skilled. Turning to see the newcomer, Prince Wan Yan immediately frowned, speaking in a deep voice, ”Huang Yidao!”

The newcomer was none other than Huang Yidao, the one who took his son to compete at the marriage selection affair at the Xihang Shen Family. Huang Yidao wasn’t weak; though he hadn’t reached the level of the Five Unmatches, he was on par with the Northern Martial Zen and Prince Wan Yan, which is why Prince Wan Yan’s expression changed upon seeing him.

With someone arriving, the Northern Martial Zen didn’t know whether to feel happy or sad. If he weren’t injured, this situation would’ve been nothing to him. But now, he was without strength, utterly at the mercy of others, unable to resist in his current state. Like a lamb to the slaughter, either of these two could easily end his life.

Standing just between Prince Wan Yan and the Northern Martial Zen, Huang Yidao blocked the Northern Martial Zen from behind, coldly sneering at Prince Wan Yan, ”Wan Yan, how has Northern Martial Zen offended you to warrant such harsh measures? Destroying the Qihai Acupoint would completely end Northern Martial Zen’s cultivation power. Martial artists like us know cultivation is not easy, your actions are excessively vicious, don’t you think?”

Prince Wan Yan furrowed his brow tightly, as the situation was indeed troublesome for him now. With Huang Yidao’s appearance, his intentions were uncertain. But judging by his stance, he’s likely here to defend the Northern Martial Zen. Given Huang Yidao’s strength, it was practically impossible for Prince Wan Yan to bypass him and kill the Northern Martial Zen. If Northern Martial Zen regained his Inner Strength, things would be dire for Prince Wan Yan, as the Northern Martial Zen would surely risk everything against him!

So now, Prince Wan Yan dared not think of anything else, his one and only thought was to kill Northern Martial Zen, to completely put an end to this matter. Otherwise, once Northern Martial Zen caught his breath, would he still let him off?

”What does Huang mean by this?” Prince Wan Yan slowly walked over and said in a cold tone, ”This is a grudge between me and Northern Martial Zen. Could it be that Brother Huang wants to interfere?”

”Private grudges, of course, I cannot control. However, in this world, everything is inseparable from fairness.” Huang Yidao sneered and said, ”Brother Bei has fallen to such a state, completely without the strength to resist, and you want to kill him, Brother Wan Yan. Isn’t that a bit unfair? Even if it is a private grudge, it should be a fair duel. There is no such thing as taking advantage of someone’s peril? Taking advantage of another’s peril is just the means of a petty person. Brother Wan Yan, you wouldn’t be the same as a petty person, would you?”

Prince Wan Yan’s face changed, and he did not want to waste any more words, gritting his teeth saying, ”Huang Yidao, from start to finish, you just want to meddle in this matter, don’t you? Hmph, as far as I know, you and Northern Martial Zen don’t have much of a relationship. Do you really think that by helping him today, Northern Martial Zen will be grateful to you in the future? Hmph, this Northern Martial Zen, a cold and ruthless person, will kill without blinking an eye, and certainly does not understand gratitude. Even if you save him today, he might be the one to kill you one day. Instead, by saving him, you become my Wan Yan family’s enemy. Even though the Wan Yan family is in decline now, if it comes to a fight, taking a few people down with us isn’t a difficult thing!”

At this point, Prince Wan Yan’s words were purely a threat to Huang Yidao. If you insist on saving Northern Martial Zen, then you are making an enemy of my Wan Yan family. By then, don’t blame my Wan Yan family for hunting you down mercilessly!

Huang Yidao seemed to have completely ignored Prince Wan Yan’s threat; he just sneered, saying, ”Thank you for the reminder, Brother Wan Yan. Mr. Huang knows what to do. I never intended to interfere in the matters between the two of you, only to wish for a fair fight. If Brother Wan Yan can manage that, Mr. Huang will not meddle in these affairs!”

”Brother Huang, rest assured!” Northern Martial Zen said in a deep voice from behind: ”This life-saving act of kindness, I, a certain Northerner, will remember it clearly. Someday, if the opportunity arises, I will surely repay it with gratitude!”

Witnessing the situation, Prince Wan Yan couldn’t help but be furious, roaring furiously as he lunged at Huang Yidao, exclaiming angrily, ”Today, I shall kill him! Huang Yidao, if you dare to stop me, I will kill you too!”

”Alright!” Huang Yidao laughed loudly, raising the long sword in his hand and slicing it up with his chest, saying loudly, ”Brother Wan Yan, if you have the skill to kill Mr. Huang, then Mr. Huang will accept his fate!”

The long sword in Huang Yidao’s hand is a famed instrument called the Hundred-refined Sword, which ranks amongst the top ancient swords. It is Huang Yidao’s exclusive weapon, also the treasure passed down by the Huang family from generation to generation. Huang Yidao’s name comes from this Hundred-refined Sword. In most confrontations, he can defeat opponents with a single strike, displaying irresistible might. So, Huang Yidao is considered a hero in the South.

However, the martial artists of the Southern Six Provinces have always lived under the shadow of Shen Tianjun’s reputation. After Shen Tianjun, the reputation of other martial artists in the Southern Six Provinces has never risen. Despite Huang Yidao’s formidable strength, his fame in the Southern Six Provinces is not great. On the contrary, if he were in the North, his name would be even more renowned, as the Northern powers are widespread, and masters are prolific!

Although Prince Wan Yan has never fought against Huang Yidao, he had long heard of Huang Yidao’s renown. Therefore, he was extremely cautious when making a move, not daring to be negligent in the slightest. Seeing Huang Yidao strike with a horizontal chop, he immediately dodged, simultaneously dashing forward, intending to surge past Huang Yidao to kill Northern Martial Zen. At this moment, he had no intention of dueling with Huang Yidao, wanting only to kill Northern Martial Zen and end it once and for all.

Huang Yidao had already anticipated Prince Wan Yan’s intentions. His Hundred-refined Sword swiped through the air with three strikes, blocking all of Prince Wan Yan’s routes, forcing him to turn around and defend. Seizing the opportunity, Huang Yidao also rushed up, his long sword cutting horizontally and vertically, one move after another, entangling in a skirmish with Prince Wan Yan.

Meanwhile, as they dueled, suddenly, a man dressed in black leapt from a large stone nearby, grabbing Northern Martial Zen and turning to flee with him.

Prince Wan Yan saw this distinctly and frantically shouted to hinder them. However, Huang Yidao pinned him down tightly; he simply couldn’t break free and could only watch as Northern Martial Zen was taken away by that person.

”Huang Yidao!” Prince Wan Yan howled in fury, exclaiming indignantly, ”You planned this all along, joining hands with that person to save Northern Martial Zen. You are indeed turning against me!”

”Think what you want!” Huang Yidao sneered, saying, ”Brother Wan Yan, either way, you can’t kill Northern Martial Zen today.”
