Urban Martial Saint

”Into the water?” Everyone was confused by Ye Qing’s decision, not knowing why he suddenly came up with this idea.

”Mr. Ye, you’re not really thinking of swimming across, are you?” Wu Changming quickly said, ”Mr. Ye, you don’t know the current conditions of the Beimeng River. The water flows here are too rapid, and there are many whirlpools. Even a goose feather can’t float. Swimming across is simply impossible. The state wanted to build a bridge here before, but because the water flow is so turbulent, even a bridge couldn’t be built, let alone swimming across.”

”No worries, I have a way.” Ye Qing didn’t stop at all, driving directly around the city in front to head to the riverbank via a side road.

Hearing Ye Qing say this, Wu Changming couldn’t argue anymore. He looked at the direction Ye Qing was heading and said, ”Mr. Ye, even if you have a way, this isn’t the road to the riverbank.”

Wu Changming had looked at the map of this area before, so he had a rough understanding of the terrain here. The small road Ye Qing chose wouldn’t actually lead to the riverbank; it was a road going up a mountain. Besides, no road had been built on this mountain, and the other side was all cliffs. Therefore, reaching the riverbank through this route was impossible.

”I know,” Ye Qing said calmly. ”However, no one would be guarding this area!”

Ye Qing was right. Since this place doesn’t lead to the riverbank and can’t reach the Meng District, there surely wouldn’t be anyone guarding it.

”Having no guards is not the point. The point is we can’t get to the riverbank, so what’s the purpose of going this way?” Wu Changming said.

Ye Qing said, ”I just checked; the cliff here isn’t very high. We have ropes in the car, so we can tie the rope to descend.”

Wu Changming suddenly realized; no wonder Ye Qing chose this route. First, they could use some special method to cross. Second, the Wanyan Family wouldn’t expect them to take this route, so they definitely wouldn’t set up obstacles here. This was undoubtedly the most suitable path.

Understanding this, Wu Changming admired Ye Qing even more. Ye Qing’s meticulous mind and thorough actions truly earned his admiration.

He had been worried about whether Ye Qing could lead them out of the Meng District, but now his confidence in Ye Qing had doubled.

Knowing Ye Qing’s plan, others also felt much more reassured. However, they still couldn’t figure out how Ye Qing planned to cross the Beimeng River. Swimming across was simply impossible. The turbulent flows of the Beimeng River wouldn’t allow not even a person to swim across. Even if you had a boat, it would be capsized by the currents.

As Ye Qing anticipated, they encountered no obstructions along this road. In fact, they hardly met anyone along the way. After all, this was a mountain road that got more remote the further they went. By the time they reached the foot of the mountain, there wasn’t even a road anymore. At such a late hour, who would go to such a deserted place?

Ye Qing drove all the way to the foot of the mountain and stopped only after they couldn’t go any further. He turned to look at the people behind him and said, ”The rest of the journey has to be on foot. Everyone helps each other. Mr. Wu, please hand me the ropes at the back, I’ll carry these.”

Wu Changming took out a bundle of ropes from the trunk, which were usually just regular tool ropes seldom used but proved useful this time.

Ye Qing shouldered these items and then personally carried Wu Changming on his back. Everyone got out of the car, each taking something useful, and without wasting time, they followed Ye Qing up the mountain.

The nearby mountain wasn’t high, but due to its remoteness, it hadn’t been developed much, with no roads, just overgrown forests and bushes. Walking through this caused the group some trouble. Fortunately, Ye Qing had the Wu Hong Dagger, leading the way, making it easier for those behind.

Yelu Ying closely followed behind Ye Qing, seeing him carrying Wu Changming without looking back as he headed uphill. Her eyes couldn’t help but fill with gentleness. Watching this man, for some reason, all the pain she had endured before didn’t seem so memorable. Following behind this man, she always felt an indescribable sense of security.

Old Wang Ba, climbing after them while sighing: ”Ah, what kind of sin have I committed, leaving my comfortable air-conditioned room to climb a mountain with you in the middle of the night? I’m telling you, it’s tough being a good person, really tough!”

Everyone knew Old Wang Ba’s personality, so no one paid him any mind. Climbing the mountain was challenging enough, and no one had the time to banter with him.

Since several women among the Yelu Family companions were injured and needed to be carried up the mountain, the short distance took the group a long time. It wasn’t until after one in the morning that they reached the mountain top.

The situation on the mountaintop is just as Wu Changming described; it’s all cliffs from here, and relying solely on manpower, it’s definitely impossible to climb down. However, everyone knew that Ye Qing was going to use a rope, so they were mentally prepared.

After Yelu Ying came up, she looked around and pointed at a tree as thick as a basketball by the edge of the cliff and asked, ”Ye, why don’t we tie the rope to that tree trunk over there so that we can climb down one by one?”

Ye Qing walked to the edge of the cliff, looked down, then glanced at the rope in his hand, and slightly furrowed his brow, saying, ”The length of this rope can’t reach the bottom of the cliff at all.”

”Right!” Wu Changming slapped his forehead and said, ”I almost forgot this. This rope is just for tying things to the car, the length is simply not enough. Depending on this rope to go down, I’m afraid it’s not possible!”

”So, what do we do?” The others immediately panicked, realizing the ropes weren’t long enough only after coming here. Now how are they supposed to manage? Are they supposed to go back down just to buy a rope and come back? Who knows how much time that would take, back and forth. If they were discovered by the Wanyan Family, they’d be as good as dead.

”No worries, I can use this Ice Silkworm Thread to extend it a bit.” Ye Qing took out a bundle of Ice Silkworm Thread from his person, which he had snatched from the female disciple of Ghost-faced Judge Cui Yu when she pursued him when he first entered Shenchuan City. Afterwards, Cui Yu’s disciples were all dealt with by him, so this Ice Silkworm Thread was never returned.

Ye Qing had used the Ice Silkworm Thread several times and was very familiar with it. Despite it being even thinner than ordinary silk threads, this fine Ice Silkworm Thread could still hold the weight of several people. Using it to extend the rope would allow it to reach the bottom of the cliff.

”Such a fine thing, can it do the job?” a woman from the Yelu Family asked in a low voice, not knowing the special nature of the Ice Silkworm Thread, so she was still doubtful.

”No problem,” Ye Qing replied, directly walking over to connect the Ice Silkworm Thread with the rope. Then he walked over, securely tying one end of the rope to the tree trunk, pulling it a few times with his hand to ensure it was tightly fastened, and then nodded, ”Alright, now I’ll go down first to test it. You all stay here and don’t wander off, I’ll be back up soon!”

With that, Ye Qing walked to the edge of the cliff and was about to jump down when Yelu Ying suddenly exclaimed, ”Ye...”

”What is it?” Ye Qing asked curiously.

”It’s nothing, just... just...” Yelu Ying’s face turned a little red, and she whispered, ”Be careful.”

Just those simple words, yet they revealed the girl’s feelings. Everyone looked at Ye Qing, who felt a bit embarrassed. He nodded, saying, ”It’s alright.”

Without lingering, he immediately jumped off the edge of the cliff, holding the rope in his hand to support his weight, releasing the rope little by little to slowly descend.

The cliff was not extremely high but not low either. Coming down alone was quite easy for Ye Qing, taking less than five minutes to reach the bottom. However, the rope from the vehicle was clearly not long enough. Ye Qing estimated that the end of the rope was still eight or nine meters above the cliff bottom, which is a significant height, exceeding that of a three-story building.

Though Ye Qing was now quite skilled, his Light Body Skill was still quite mediocre. Jumping down from an ordinary height of four or five meters was already somewhat uncomfortable for him. This height of eight or nine meters was not easy to jump down from.

However, the bottom of the cliff wasn’t bad; it was a patch of land with a lot of overgrown wild grass. But now in winter, much of the grass had turned yellow, and in some places, the grass was gone, revealing the soil beneath, which was relatively soft.

Having observed the surroundings clearly, Ye Qing then climbed back up the rope once more. Climbing up was more challenging than descending. Luckily, Ye Qing’s meridians in his arms were open, allowing him to circulate his inner strength, making him much stronger than before, so climbing up wasn’t too difficult.

Atop the cliff, Yelu Ying and the others were anxiously waiting. Seeing Ye Qing climbing up, everyone was overjoyed. Yelu Ying quickly ran over, urgently asking, ”Ye, are you alright? Are you unharmed?”

Faced with Yelu Ying’s concern, Ye Qing always felt a bit awkward and inclined to flee. He coughed lightly and said, ”I’m fine; everything’s good down there, it’s a grassy area. Now everyone should spread out; those who aren’t injured stay here first. I’ll carry the injured ones down one by one. Remember, go down one by one, do not disrupt the order; otherwise, this rope might not support our weight!”

”Ye, you... you’re going to carry them down one by one?” Yelu Ying was immediately anxious and said, ”How can that be okay? We have eight injured people here, and you’re going to carry them down all by yourself?”
