Urban Martial Saint

Such a situation made Ye Qing’s heart skip a beat. After running so far, could it be that all his efforts would be in vain in this final stretch? If he surfaced now, it would be over; he would definitely be swept away by the current.

In his panic, Ye Qing instinctively flailed his arms everywhere, like a drowning person trying to grab a life-saving straw. Unexpectedly, at this critical moment, he caught hold of a large rock. Without thinking, he clung desperately to the rock.

In that brief moment, he surfaced!

A glance revealed he had reached the riverbank, and the rock he was holding was conveniently jutting out from the shore.

This situation allowed Ye Qing to catch his breath. After struggling for so long, he finally reached the riverbank. He clung to the rock, rested in the water for a moment, and then slowly climbed ashore while holding the rock.

On this side of the riverbank, Yelu Ying and others were anxiously watching the river. They had not seen Ye Qing appear, which filled them with worry. They were contemplating whether to use the Ice Silkworm Thread to pull Ye Qing back.

”Is that... could that be Ye?” Suddenly, a woman pointed to the opposite shore and exclaimed.

Everyone looked in the direction she pointed. Although it was still dark, the moonlight was enough to just about illuminate the opposite side. They vaguely saw a figure climbing ashore, and everyone was overjoyed. Wu Changming exclaimed happily, ”He really made it! He actually made it across!”

”Is that Ye?” Yelu Ying was still a bit worried and couldn’t help but ask.

”What’s the big deal? Just shout and ask.” Old Wang Ba walked to the riverbank and shouted loudly, ”Hey, Young Ye!”

Although the sound of the water on the river was loud, Old Wang Ba’s shout clearly reached Ye Qing’s ears. He waved to the people over there and said in a loud voice, ”Alright, now you can let the first person come over.”

”It really is Ye!” Hearing Ye Qing’s voice, Yelu Ying was overjoyed too. Knowing that Ye Qing was safe, she felt much more at ease.

Wu Changming, full of relief, said, ”Miss, you go first.”

”How can that be? I’m not injured. I’ll hold the rear; you go first!” Yelu Ying walked over and, without waiting for a response, tightly wrapped Wu Changming with the Ice Silkworm Thread and said, ”Uncle Wu, you’re the most injured; you go first.”

Wu Changming urgently said, ”Miss, in my current state, my life doesn’t hold much meaning anymore. You are the eldest daughter of the Yelu Family, and also its last head; you are the most important!”

”Hey, can you two stop arguing?” Old Wang Ba walked over and said, ”If you can’t decide, then Eighth Master here will go first, alright?”

Seeing Old Wang Ba eager to untie the rope from Wu Changming, Yelu Ying quickly helped Wu Changming up and said, ”Uncle Wu, you go first. We’ll be right behind. Don’t worry; as we take this route, the Wanyan Family surely won’t find us. We have plenty of time to cross slowly; we’ll all make it.”

Hearing Yelu Ying say this, Wu Changming finally felt a bit reassured. He nodded, turned to look at the remaining members of the Yelu family, and said, ”You must protect Miss well and ensure nothing goes wrong!”

With the assistance of the two Tomb Guarding Elders, Yelu Ying slowly placed Wu Changming into the river, then pulled on the Ice Silkworm Thread to signal Ye Qing on the other side.

Ye Qing had already found a large tree and wrapped the Ice Silkworm Thread around it. This way, even if he accidentally let go, the tree would hold the Ice Silkworm Thread, ensuring no danger. Receiving Yelu Ying’s signal, he immediately went to the riverbank, stood behind a large stone, and pulled the Ice Silkworm Thread with all his might.

On this side, Yelu Ying and others dared not let go all at once but instead slowly released the Ice Silkworm Thread. This way, they could ensure Wu Changming stayed on the surface and wouldn’t be submerged by the current, allowing him to breathe. However, the beginning stretch was manageable, but as they moved toward the center, it became apparent that suspending Wu Changming on the river surface was impossible. His body was already submerged in the river, and the swift current made it quite strenuous for Ye Qing.

Ye Qing dared not slacken for a moment, continuously pulling with all his might, quickening the pace. In less than a minute, he hauled Wu Changming over.

At this moment, Wu Changming was also submerged underwater for nearly a minute, luckily he learned Breath Holding Skill along the way earlier, so he wasn’t choked by the water. Ye Qing pulled him to the shore, untied the Ice Silkworm Thread on his body, then tugged the Ice Silkworm Thread to signal Yelu Ying.

Receiving Ye Qing’s signal, Yelu Ying first put an injured person in the water. This way, after a back-and-forth for about an hour, most people were sent over, leaving only Yelu Ying there.

The Yelu Family members were anxiously waiting at the riverbank, after all, Yelu Ying was currently the Family Head of the Yelu Family. Especially Wu Changming, he was always worried before Yelu Ying arrived. After all, that side was still the territory of the Wanyan Family.

Honestly, with Yelu Ying not coming over, Ye Qing was also a bit worried. He stood by the riverbank, tightly grasping the Ice Silkworm Thread, waiting for Yelu Ying’s signal, fearing something unexpected might happen on that side.

Luckily, it wasn’t long before the Ice Silkworm Thread was tugged, signaling from Yelu Ying. Everyone here was delighted, rushing over to help pull the Ice Silkworm Thread to drag Yelu Ying over.

Yelu Ying’s situation was more troublesome than others. Previously, when others fell into the water, there were pulls from both sides: Yelu Ying on that side, and Ye Qing on this side. With the forces from both sides pulling straight, it just allowed the person in between to float on the water, without being swept away by the current. But now, there’s only Yelu Ying left on that side, no one on that side to pull the Ice Silkworm Thread. So she was rapidly swept away by the water flow once she jumped in.

However, on this side, with Ye Qing and others pulling, she couldn’t rush too far downward. Caught between two forces, she was directly pushed to the middle of the river, floating and sinking unpredictably, unable to even rise to take a breath.

Here, Ye Qing and others clearly sensed the heaviness of the Ice Silkworm Thread, making pulling them over truly not easy. Luckily, the Yelu Family was there, with everyone’s combined strength, it was much easier than Ye Qing pulling alone.

After pulling for half a minute, Yelu Ying was getting closer and closer to the shore, everyone had faces full of excitement. Once they pulled Yelu Ying over, it would be a great achievement, completely escaping the Wanyan Family’s pursuit.

But, right in this final stretch, everyone suddenly couldn’t pull anymore. The Ice Silkworm Thread seemed to be tangled with a rock or something, and no matter how much force was applied, it simply couldn’t be moved.

Ye Qing pulled several times and seeing the Immortal Silkworm Thread stuck, he started to panic, quickly turned and said: ”Stop pulling, everyone, the Ice Silkworm Thread must be caught by something. If we keep pulling, it’ll snap, and Miss Yelu would be in danger!”

Upon hearing Ye Qing’s words, the Yelu Family members were astonished, Wu Changming was restless, holding a huge stone to stand up urgently: ”Then... what should we do? The young lady is still in the water? She’s... definitely sinking now, she doesn’t have the Breath Holding Skill, it’s been so long, the young lady... the young lady is in danger...”

Wu Changming’s words made the other Yelu Family members even more worried, several girls even started crying directly. After all, now that Yelu Ying was the Family Head of the Yelu Family and the only person who could lead them. If she were gone, the remaining Yelu Family members would truly not know what to do.

”Don’t worry, I’ll go down and take a look.” Ye Qing grabbed the Ice Silkworm Thread on the ground, tightly wrapped it around his waist, and without another word, jumped into the river.

Seeing Ye Qing go in, the Yelu Family members immediately walked to the riverside, each face holding concern and expectation. However, Ye Qing’s action genuinely increased the Yelu Family members’ respect towards him.

After all, the water flow in the Beimeng River is swift, jumping in at night, even with the Ice Silkworm Thread wrapped, is extremely dangerous. In this situation, Ye Qing could jump directly to save someone, this kind of courage, is truly admirable!

Ye Qing’s second plunge into the river was more experienced than the previous one. As soon as he entered the water, he immediately grabbed the preceding Ice Silkworm Thread, which was tied to Yelu Ying on one end and held by the people on the shore on the other, making a straight line. Ye Qing grabbed this straight Ice Silkworm Thread to leverage and not be swept away by the current.

Stabilizing himself with great effort, Ye Qing began to slowly search along the direction of the Ice Silkworm Thread downward. The fast river current made Ye Qing’s actions challenging, but he dared not slacken for a moment; after all, Yelu Ying had been in the water for too long, if she wasn’t rescued quickly, it could be life-threatening.

Luckily, Yelu Ying was already near the bank. Ye Qing didn’t take too long to find her. She was completely submerged in the river now, her hands frantically clawing around, seemingly dazed from drowning.

Upon closer inspection, Ye Qing realized her legs were tightly entangled by underwater weeds, making sense of why they couldn’t move her from above, considering it was entangled tightly by these tough weeds. Moreover, the weeds entangling her were far more numerous than the ones binding Ye Qing earlier. These weeds were exceptionally tough, making severing them not an easy task.

Ye Qing understood that to rescue her, he must first cut through those weeds. However, he didn’t dare approach her directly as she was in a drowning state right now, even encountering a straw would grab onto it tightly. Ye Qing feared being grabbed by her arm or anything, causing both of them to be stuck there.
