Urban Martial Saint

Having encountered the previous wolf, Ye Qing was extremely sensitive to the scent of blood. Upon smelling it here, his first reaction was that perhaps an animal was injured again.

Ye Qing tightened his grip on the Wu Hong Dagger and followed the direction of the blood scent, finding a dead jungle wolf behind a pile of stones. Upon closer inspection, he found that this wolf’s injuries were identical to the previous one, both torn to death by a beast.

Having encountered such a situation before, Ye Qing was not particularly surprised. He got up and continued walking forward, but before long, he found another dead jungle wolf behind a mound of dirt, with injuries similar to the last one, also clawed by a beast.

He reached out to touch the wolf and found, to his surprise, that the body was still warm. This indicated that the wolf had only recently died; the beast that attacked it must still be nearby!

This discovery startled Ye Qing, and he quickly stood up, becoming fully alert. The beast capable of killing two wolves must be quite fierce; if Ye Qing wasn’t careful, it could be to his disadvantage.

Cautiously walking about one hundred meters through the stone piles and mounds, Ye Qing encountered three more wolf corpses. All of these wolf bodies were still warm, which made Ye Qing even more alert. So many wolves dying here showed just how ferocious this beast must be!

Just then, he suddenly heard a whimpering sound from ahead. Ye Qing’s heart leaped—could the beast be in front?

Ye Qing gripped his Wu Hong Dagger tightly and carefully walked in that direction. When he arrived behind a small hill, a wild wolf suddenly dashed across the path ahead. Immediately after, a shadow sped after it with incredible speed. Before Ye Qing could react, the wolf was seized by the shadow, whimpering as it was flung back!

From behind the small hill, Ye Qing saw everything unfold clearly. He was astonished to find that the shadow wasn’t a beast, but a large human figure. Wrapped in a wide black garment, his specific features were obscured, but his hands were exposed—and they couldn’t be called hands at all; they were like beastly claws.

The person’s hands were extremely thin and covered in hair like a beast’s mane. His ten fingernails were sharp like beast claws, and since he had just killed that wild wolf, the claws were still dripping with blood, appearing very gruesome. Combined with those strange hands, it had a truly eerie feeling.

Ye Qing always thought the wolves were killed by a beast, but now realized they were slain by a person. Furthermore, this person’s hands were like a beast’s, which left Ye Qing even more astonished. Just who was this person? How could his hands resemble those of a beast?

Based on the person’s actions and speed earlier, Ye Qing could conclude that this was definitely a Martial Artist. And with such speed, he might even be considered a Top-Level Master. Ye Qing admitted to himself that even if he were to engage personally, he might not be much faster than this person.

A Martial Artist appearing around Humeng City at this time was undoubtedly after the Sun Shooting Bow, which Ye Qing could accept. However, this person’s hand situation was very strange to him; he had never seen anyone like this. Or rather, could such a person still be considered human?

Without knowing the identity of this person, Ye Qing dared not appear hastily. He hid behind a large stone, listening quietly for any sounds from that side, planning to proceed once the person had left.

But the person did not leave. He casually walked over to the wolf, nudged it with his right foot to confirm it was dead, and then moved past the wolf.

”OK!” The person walked out of Ye Qing’s line of sight and spoke fluent English behind the stone pile.

During his school days, Ye Qing was indeed a top student and had electives taught by foreign English teachers, so he could clearly understand what the person was saying.

”Alright, all the wolves in this area have been taken care of!” The person’s words translated into Huaxia language meant just that. However, it sounded as though he was speaking to someone.

This left Ye Qing even more shocked. That person already speaking English had surprised him greatly. And now, with his tone, was someone else hiding behind the stone pile? But Ye Qing had been there so long without hearing anything—how was that possible? With his skills, he should have detected any sound.

”Very good!” Another voice emerged from behind the stone pile, clearly indicating another person was there.

”Now that these obstacles have been cleared, we can inform the Bishop; they can take action,” said the person softly, again using authentic English.

”Will the Bishop come personally this time?” the first person asked.

”Of course!” the second person said, ”The Bishop takes this matter very seriously, and he will definitely come in person to see that Sun Shooting Bow from the Huaxia country!”

The first person snorted disdainfully, ”Hmph, that desolate place Huaxia, even its people emit a stinky and disgusting smell, what’s there to see!”

”You don’t understand!” the second person said, ”That Sun Shooting Bow in Huaxia is not a simple thing. The Bishop personally came to see it a hundred years ago, and at that time, he was wounded by the Sun Shooting Bow!”

”What!?” the first person exclaimed in surprise, ”That Sun Shooting Bow could even injure the Bishop?”

Ye Qing was even more astonished than the first person. He didn’t know what kind of identities these two people had. However, from their conversation, he could vaguely pick up some things. Moreover, what surprised him the most was the second person’s words just now. That Bishop, a hundred years ago, had personally come to see it. Calculating it this way, that Bishop must be at least over a hundred years old, and from their conversation, it seems this Bishop is also very formidable. Thus, it can be seen that this Bishop is probably also a Top-Level Master, and has lived for quite some time. But, who exactly is this Bishop? What identities do these people have?

”Huaxia has many strange and unusual things,” the second person said deeply. ”The Bishop said that this Sun Shooting Bow can almost be considered the most mysterious thing in Huaxia. So, in the past hundred years, the Bishop has come several times, trying to take the Sun Shooting Bow, but failed each time. The people of Huaxia have also become shrewd; they specifically raise so many wolves in this suburban area as a defense against the Bishop. You know the Bishop’s identity, as long as he shows up here, these packs of wolves will definitely become agitated, and the people of Huaxia will surely find out. Therefore, we must first eliminate these obstacles and clear a path for the Bishop!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Qing finally understood the fundamental reason why the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance raised these forest wolves here; it was actually to defend against that Bishop. But who exactly is this Bishop? Why does even the Seven Rudders of the Hong Alliance have to guard against him like this?

”With the Bishop’s strength, taking away the Sun Shooting Bow shouldn’t be difficult at all!” the first person wondered, ”Could the people of Huaxia possibly stop the Bishop?”

The second person coldly said, ”Don’t underestimate the people of Huaxia. The Martial Artists among them are exceptionally terrifying. We’d better be careful when we do things here. If we encounter those powerful Martial Artists, I’m afraid we wouldn’t even make it back alive!”

”Is it really that terrifying?” the first person said with disdain, ”I don’t believe the Martial Artists of Huaxia can be that formidable. Those stinky, disgusting bugs—I could crush them with one hand!”

This first person was obviously very arrogant, and his tone was full of contempt for the people of Huaxia.

The second person said solemnly, ”You’d better be careful. If we encounter danger, even the Bishop may not be able to save you. We must not cause trouble for the Bishop, understood?”

”Alright, I got it,” the first person casually replied. Ye Qing could hear that he didn’t take the second person’s words to heart at all.

The second person was silent for a while, and then said, ”Alright, we’ve already sent the message to the Bishop. Let’s continue to sweep around this area and make sure to eliminate all these wolves without leaving any behind!”

”Alright!” the first person let out a howl, which sounded like a wolf’s howl in the moonlit night. Following that, Ye Qing heard two slight footsteps as these two people gradually walked away.

Ye Qing didn’t dare to be careless. He had been hiding behind the pile of rocks until the footsteps of these two people faded away. Only then did he quietly emerge from behind the pile of rocks.

Those two people had long disappeared, and not only one wolf carcass lay on the ground, but two more wolves were lying there as well. The three wolf carcasses had the same injury condition—killed by that person with his bare hands—those hands could hardly be called hands; they were practically claws!

While hiding behind the pile of rocks just now, Ye Qing had heard the conversation between the two people and was already brimming with doubt. The identities of these two people were too strange, and from what they said about that Bishop, it seemed even more mysterious. It’s unclear why the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance use wolf-rearing methods to guard against that Bishop. It seems that this matter can only be understood by asking people from the Hong Alliance!

Ye Qing didn’t linger here for long. He simply memorized the characteristics of that person in his mind, then stood up and walked off in another direction. Those two people were too bizarre; Ye Qing didn’t want to be involved with them and thought it best to stay away from them.
