Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing was in a rather awkward position. He had to hold onto the Ice Silkworm Thread, or he would be swept away by the current. However, the Ice Silkworm Thread was tied around Yelu Ying’s waist. In other words, if he kept climbing along the Ice Silkworm Thread, he would definitely get closer to Yelu Ying.

Given Yelu Ying’s current state, her hands were grabbing wildly. If Ye Qing got too close, she would inevitably grab him. If that happened, both of them would be stuck here. So, Ye Qing couldn’t get too close to Yelu Ying; he had to go around her and cut off the water weeds.

So now, Ye Qing was in a dilemma. Deciding what to do became a very challenging task. However, given the situation, Ye Qing didn’t have much time. Yelu Ying had been in the water for nearly two minutes. Her struggling seemed to be getting weaker. If he delayed any longer, even if Ye Qing could save her, she might still drown.

After a moment of contemplation, Ye Qing suddenly gritted his teeth, let go, and dove directly toward the bottom of the water to avoid Yelu Ying and head for the water weeds. Doing so in the rushing waters of the Beimeng River was extremely dangerous because the current was incredibly fast. Ye Qing could barely keep his body stable while holding onto the Ice Silkworm Thread, let alone letting go.

But Ye Qing had no choice. He had to save Yelu Ying as quickly as possible, so he could only risk trying.

As soon as he let go, Ye Qing lost his support. Before he could dive into the water, the powerful current swept him seven or eight meters downstream. He managed to go around Yelu Ying, but he was swept downstream, far from the bunch of water weeds.

Fortunately, the other end of the Ice Silkworm Thread was held by several people on the shore. They felt Ye Qing suddenly rush downstream and immediately pulled the Ice Silkworm Thread hard, barely managing to hold Ye Qing in place. However, the situation became even more troublesome. Ye Qing was still five or six meters away from Yelu Ying, and he had lost the support of the Ice Silkworm Thread from before. All he had was the Ice Silkworm Thread tied around his waist, making it even harder for him to move in the water. Waves crashed over his head, making it difficult for Ye Qing to even catch his breath.

Clutching the Ice Silkworm Thread around his waist, Ye Qing took a deep breath when the waves were small, then dove into the water, using the pulling power of the Ice Silkworm Thread to force himself to sink to the bottom. This process was not easy, and several times he was swept back up by the current. After five or six attempts, Ye Qing finally managed to dive to the bottom.

The current at the bottom was much slower. Of course, it was still difficult for Ye Qing to stabilize himself, but it was somewhat better than on the surface.

Diving to the bottom, Ye Qing didn’t dare to delay. He gripped the Ice Silkworm Thread, using all his strength to inch towards the clump of water weeds. He was less than four meters away from them, but in the water, reaching that distance was not easy. Ye Qing put in all his effort, taking a full half-minute to reach the edge of the water weeds.

As for Yelu Ying, she had almost stopped struggling, indicating she was close to losing consciousness. Being unconscious at the bottom of the water was extremely dangerous.

Seeing this, Ye Qing’s anxiety increased. He gritted his teeth, struggling to take a step forward, grabbing the water weeds, finally getting close.

Ye Qing had already taken out the Wu Hong Dagger. After grabbing the water weeds, he immediately used the dagger to cut them off. These water weeds were tough, but the Wu Hong Dagger, being a famed instrument, sliced through them with ease.

After cutting through the water weeds a few times, Ye Qing also grabbed Yelu Ying’s foot, pulling hard a couple of times.

Those on the shore were waiting anxiously. Suddenly, the Ice Silkworm Thread tugged a few times, and they were overjoyed.

”It’s done! It’s done! The young lady has been saved!” Wu Changming exclaimed with excitement, urging, ”Quick, pull the young lady out!”

In fact, even before Wu Changming spoke, the people from the Yelu Family were already doing their best. They joined forces, pulling Yelu Ying up with little difficulty, managing to get her to the shore in less than ten seconds.

At this point, Yelu Ying was still unconscious. They quickly lifted her out of the water, and a few women helped press her chest, getting her to expel the water she had swallowed. For drowning victims, this is the first and most crucial step of rescue.

Yelu Ying hadn’t been in the water long and hadn’t swallowed much water. So, after a few compressions, she coughed up some water and slowly opened her eyes.

”She’s awake! She’s awake! The young lady is awake!” shouted one of the women excitedly, and the rest of the Yelu Family members were overjoyed, surrounding Yelu Ying.

Yelu Ying opened her eyes and gradually regained her senses after a moment. Her memory was stuck at the moment she was entangled by the water weeds, and she didn’t know what happened after she fainted.

”How... how did I get up here?” Yelu Ying asked softly. Although she was awake, her body still felt weak.

”It was Ye who jumped into the water to save you!” a woman beside her hurriedly replied.

”Ye!” An unusual light flashed in Yelu Ying’s eyes. She looked around in amazement and asked, ”Where is Ye?”

Upon hearing this, everyone exchanged a glance, and Wu Changming suddenly slapped his thigh in urgency, exclaiming, ”Oh no, Mr. Ye is still in the water!”

Earlier, after the Yelu family had rescued Yelu Ying, everyone was concerned about her condition, completely forgetting that Ye Qing was still in the water. Hearing these words now, everyone snapped back to their senses and quickly turned their heads to see Ye Qing sitting by the riverbank, sorting out the Ice Silkworm Thread.

Seeing that Ye Qing was safe, everyone finally breathed a long sigh of relief. Wu Changming limped over with great difficulty on one leg and knelt down in front of Ye Qing, saying loudly, ”Mr. Ye, just now... just now, it was all our fault. I, Wu Changming, on behalf of the entire Yelu family, apologize to you. We are truly sorry!”

”Mr. Wu, no need to be so formal.” Ye Qing quickly went over to help Wu Changming up, saying, ”When you rescued Miss Yelu just now, I had already made it to the shore and there was no danger. You don’t need to do this.”

”We were all so excited to see Miss Yelu return that we forgot all about you, Mr. Ye.” Wu Changming said with a face full of remorse, ”Mr. Ye, you went into the water to save our Miss Yelu, yet we forgot our savior. It’s fortunate that you’re alright. If anything had happened to you, we could only repay with our lives!”

Ye Qing waved his hand and said, ”Mr. Wu, you are overreacting.”

”Alas!” Wu Changming sighed, feeling deeply ashamed now. Although Ye Qing was magnanimous and did not blame them, it only made them feel more guilty.

Yelu Ying also walked over. She stood in front of Ye Qing, sighed slightly, and said in a low voice, ”Ye, actually... actually, you didn’t need to jump into the water to save me. The currents of the Beimeng River are so strong, if anything were to happen to you, then... then...”

At this point, Yelu Ying’s voice was already choked with emotion, tears welled up in her eyes, and she couldn’t continue speaking.

Seeing Yelu Ying like this, Ye Qing was also touched. Although the relationship between the two was somewhat awkward, it was undeniable that Yelu Ying truly cared for him.

”Don’t worry, I know my limits. The Beimeng River can’t drown me!” Ye Qing smiled and turned to address everyone, saying loudly, ”Everyone, rest a bit. We’re too close to the riverbank here; we can’t linger. We need to quickly make our way to the nearest town. Only when we reach Great General’s territory will we be truly out of danger!”

Everyone shared the same thoughts; they were already feeling much relieved. After all, crossing the Beimeng River was no easy task. Now that they had successfully crossed it, nothing should stand in their way. No matter how capable Prince Wan Yan was, he would never have imagined that Ye Qing and his companions would avoid the docks and cross the river in such a manner.

After resting for half an hour, regaining some strength, everyone got up and helped each other as they headed towards the nearest town.

They had been traveling for a whole day and were exhausted. Moreover, having just crossed the river, their clothes were soaked by the river water. Although the new year had passed, the temperature was still very low. The night wind made everyone shiver with cold. Especially Old Wang Ba, the old fellow without martial skills or Inner Strength, was like a miserable bird, continually wailing in complaint along the way.

Meanwhile, at the docks by the Beimeng River, Prince Wan Yan stood guard with his men. Due to some recent family matters, the Wanyan Family was short-handed. And since Ye Qing had been driving non-stop, it was impossible for him to set an ambush midway. So, he chose to fly directly ahead to this location outside the Beimeng River, preparing to guard and wait for Ye Qing’s arrival.

Based on the intelligence he received, Ye Qing and his companions were indeed heading in this direction. Hence, he was almost certain that Ye Qing was bound to pass through these docks. All he needed to do was wait here, and he would surely intercept Ye Qing.

However, he had waited here until early morning, and Ye Qing still hadn’t arrived. By his estimation, Ye Qing and his companions should have reached the docks by 1 a.m. at the latest. But they had not arrived yet, leaving him puzzled.

His son, Wan Yan Ming, bandaged all over, lay on a nearby couch with a face full of venomous resentment. The doctors had diagnosed that the kick from Ye Qing caused him to lose his ability to father children. This was a devastating blow to him, and his feelings could be imagined.

After sitting for a while, Wan Yan Ming couldn’t help but say angrily, ”Father, you must kill Ye Qing, you must avenge me!”
