The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Ruan Chengchun glanced at Shu Yu as he spoke, the latter’s expression calm.

After all, those villagers didn’t dare to directly question her; most of them were grabbing Ruan Chengchun for inquiries. Honestly... it’s hard on him.

Shu Yu washed her hands, coincidentally seeing Ruan Chengqian coming out of the house, she looked at him and asked, ”How’s it going?”

”I did find a chance to talk to her, but the shock was too much for her, she couldn’t think straight for a while, then people came by the riverside. We gave her some time to consider, but I don’t think it’s a big problem. She actually longs to break away from the Ruan family more than anyone.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Good, if she really finds evidence of Ruan Hai’s misdeeds, you come find me in the county town.” After all, she has to return after finishing Old Lady Ruan’s funeral tomorrow.

”Okay.”

Both Shu Yu and Ruan Chengqian thought that when Ms. Lou had considered things thoroughly and found an opportunity to gather evidence, it would take at least a few days.

Who would have guessed that that very night, as Shu Yu was preparing to rest in her room, the Ruan family’s yard gate was knocked.

It was now the third quarter of the Xu hour, close to nine o’clock.

Shu Yu and Ying Xi exchanged a glance, as they were putting on clothes, Ruan Chengqian, who had come out of the house, had already opened the yard gate, looking surprised at Ruan Libao at the door.

Ruan Libao looked very anxious, ”Chengqian, didn’t you say last time that your Dali brought calming incense drug for your daughter? Is there any left? My girl doesn’t know what’s happened, seems frightened, and keeps trembling and crying. If you have any, give me a dose.”

Ruan Chengqian didn’t have any calming incense drug, seeing Ruan Libao blinking at him frantically under the faint moonlight, he understood immediately and felt glad.

But his face showed urgency as well, ”Yes, yes, come in first, I’ll get it for you. But you need to tell me the specifics, this calming incense drug isn’t to be taken casually, if you ask me, she should be seen by a doctor.”

”It’s late, and our village doesn’t have a doctor. I see she doesn’t seem to be in pain, let her try the calming incense drug first.”

The two spoke while walking inside, naturally shutting the yard door, thereby blocking the view of those still watching outside.

Once inside the living room, Ruan Chengqian asked in a low voice, ”Did you come looking for me for something?”

Ruan Libao nodded repeatedly, ”The Lou Family asked me to come; I don’t know the specifics, but I heard Ms. Lou got beaten again late at night and ran back home. Then Uncle Lou came to me, asking me to come to you, and tell you that Ms. Lou wants to see the county magistrate.”

As he spoke, Ruan Libao’s voice lowered even further, ”What’s Ms. Lou looking for the county magistrate for? Could it be she wants the magistrate to stand up for her?”

Initially, Ruan Libao didn’t want to get involved in Ruan Hai’s affairs, though he sympathized with Ms. Lou, he knew that even if she sought the county magistrate, it wouldn’t change Ms. Lou’s situation of being beaten.

However, Uncle Lou said that Ruan Chengqian asked them to find him as a middleman to pass on messages, and also mentioned there were people watching outside the Ruan family’s place, advising him not to let it slip.

So, Ruan Libao concocted such an excuse to enter.

At this moment, his face was full of suspicion, while Ruan Chengqian didn’t answer his question, instead confirming, ”Ms. Lou really went back to the Lou Family?”

”Yes, I heard Ms. Lou has something very important to discuss with the county magistrate.”

Ruan Chengqian hadn’t expected Ms. Lou to act so quickly, just one night had passed; had she really found evidence?
