The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

So Old Lady Ruan died of breast cancer?

Shu Yu looked again at the previous pathology report, liver qi stagnation.

Frequently getting angry and having severe emotional fluctuations can lead to insufficient sleep and mental tension, which in turn causes hormonal imbalance. There are many causes of breast cancer, and hormone imbalance is generally considered one.

Tsk.

Shu Yu sneered softly and put the case file away.

She raised her eyes and saw Ying Xi hesitating to speak, raised her eyebrows and said, ”What, is there still something left unsaid?”

”Yes, there’s more. Ruan Family Village is spreading rumors, claiming that Old Lady Ruan died because she was often angry, that she was actually angered to death. And the reason for her anger was, was...”

”Was it me?” Shu Yu continued.

Ying Xi nodded, somewhat angry, ”They say every time Old Lady Ruan heard good news about the Lu family, she would throw a fit when she returned home. Last time, when she heard that the eldest lady was pregnant, she cursed for half a day and directly fainted from anger. That was the first time they called a doctor, who diagnosed her as having imbalance and stagnation in her heart.”

”Later, she heard that the future son-in-law had excelled in exams, that Lu’s shop was opened in the prefecture, that the eldest lady gave birth to a son, and that you became the county magistrate. Every time there’s good news from the Lu family, she would get enraged. Especially after the news of you becoming county magistrate spread, it was said she couldn’t sleep at night. This time before the son-in-law attended the county-level exams, before the results are even out, she died from anger.”

Shu Yu, ”...” Goodness, can they really put this blame on us?

Shu Yu was amused by the anger, ”Well, she went too far this time, from now on the Lu family’s life will only get better, she died just like that and won’t be able to hear any more good news from our family.”

Ying Xi agreed, ”Indeed, it’s too easy for her.”

”When will Old Lady Ruan be buried?”

”They picked a day, it’s the day after tomorrow.” With this weather, it can’t be left for too long.

Shu Yu nodded, ”Understood.” She folded the two case files in her hand, stood up, walked to the copper basin, and took a lighter to burn them.

As the flames swallowed the paper, a little maid’s voice sounded from outside Yu Garden, ”Second Miss, Mrs. Xiang is here.”

”Let her in.” Shu Yu paused and covered the basin, extinguishing the fire inside.

She patted the ashes off her clothes, stood up and walked to the outer room, ”Mrs. Xiang, what brings you here?”

Xiang seemed to have hurried along the road, her forehead was sweaty.

Ying Xi quickly poured her a cup of tea, she gulped down a couple of sips before speaking, ”Yu, you know about... I mean, Old Lady Ruan’s death, right?”

”Yeah, my mother told me.”

Xiang nodded, ”Right, yesterday your mother’s cousin came to the workshop and told her. I see the Ruan family wants your mother to go back to mourn Old Lady Ruan. But I know the people of Ruan Family Village very well, who knows if they’ll cause some trouble, so I went back there early this morning to inquire with familiar people.”

Shu Yu poured her another cup of tea, ”Mrs. Xiang is very thoughtful.”

Xiang waved her hand, ”I just came to tell you, Yu, you mustn’t let your mother go. I know that when people die, debts are settled, and if your mother doesn’t go, the people of Ruan Family Village might say very unpleasant things. But if she does go, she’ll be tangled up.”
