The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

So, the group quickly left the inn, got on the carriage, and headed towards the dock.

In the early morning, the dock was bustling with people coming and going and constant shouting.

Shu Yu and her group followed Steward Xu to the cargo ship where their family’s goods were transported and looked at the different samples displayed.

Shu Yu looked at each one. In fact, she wasn’t very familiar with things like pens, ink, paper, and inkstones. If only Yun was here, he would surely be able to tell at a glance which were suitable for scholars beginning their studies.

However, she still carefully tried each one. The other party saw her calm demeanor and assumed she was knowledgeable. Coupled with the recent instant noodle deal with the Lu family, there might be future collaboration, so the introduction was much more sincere.

Finally, Shu Yu selected more than two hundred beginner brushes, over a hundred medium ones, and more than thirty fine ones, including a few superb wolf hair brushes.

Besides, she also chose some paper, ink sticks, inkstone pen stands, paperweights, and other study supplies used for scholarly work.

Steward Xu was delighted to see this and soon felt a bit sad.

Although this girl bought a lot, her bargaining was fierce, far more mature than her age suggested.

Shu Yu paid the money and asked Steward Xu to find people to pack them separately and load them onto the carriage.

The carriage was already loaded with a lot of things, but with this purchase, two big boxes were added on.

But there was no choice as they were bought at wholesale price; the prices at the shop were at least double.

”Miss, look there.” Shu Yu was contentedly watching as two large boxes were loaded onto the carriage when Ying Xi suddenly called to her softly and pointed at people disembarking not far away from the ship.

Shu Yu squinted her eyes to look, and then froze, ”The Cheng siblings?”

”Miss, didn’t Guard Cheng say the Cheng siblings set off for the southwest early? How come it’s been a month and they’re still in Huajiang Prefecture?”

Shu Yu also felt it was strange; the Cheng siblings had set off many days earlier than them. Logically, even if they weren’t in the southwest by now, they should be very close.

Ying Xi whispered, ”Miss, shall I go and take a closer look?”

Shu Yu didn’t oppose, ”Be careful, don’t get discovered.”

”Yes.”

Ying Xi quickly caught up with the Cheng siblings, quietly trailing behind them.

It wasn’t long before she returned, ”Miss, they’re eating in a shop not far from the dock. I sat at the table next to them and overheard that Miss Cheng was ill, causing a long delay.”

After pausing, she continued, ”But it doesn’t seem like illness. It should be Cheng Jiatong unwilling to go to the southwest, deliberately stalling. Earlier, I hear her being petulant with Cheng Wen, complaining about this and that, saying she’s not acclimatized and doesn’t want to sit on a ship, always finding fault. I reckon it will take them at least two or three months to reach the southwest.”

Shu Yu sneered, ”Once Cheng Wen can’t stand it, they will surely speed up. Let’s not bother with her; anyway, there won’t be much interaction in the future. Everything is packed; let’s set off.”

”Miss, are we heading to Tianning County now?”

”Hmm.” Shu Yu nodded, leading the way onto the carriage.

Ying Xi then called out to Ying Dong, who surprisingly froze while staring at something not far away.

Shu Yu lifted the curtain and asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Ying Dong suddenly snapped back, ”Oh, just seemed to see someone familiar.”
