The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu leisurely sat down on the chair Ying Xi had brought over, making the Ruan family brothers feel uneasy, completely unsure of what she intended to do.

They wanted to persuade her, but didn’t know how to start. She just said she wanted to talk to their grandmother, what reason did they have to stop her?

The Ruan family brothers exchanged a look and could only watch from the side.

Shu Yu acted as if she were alone, pressing her eye with a handkerchief again, ”Grandmother, my mother didn’t come to see you, don’t blame her. It’s not that she doesn’t want to come, she fainted after hearing about your death and was traumatized, so she asked me to fulfill filial duties in her stead. Actually, my mother has always worried that you resented her. But when I came over earlier, I heard from my two Ruan family uncles that you regretted the things you did to us, and before you died, you kept talking about my mother, feeling very sad you couldn’t see her one last time. Only then did I realize that you actually loved my mother, this daughter of yours, very much.”

Everyone, ”...” You actually believed what the Ruan family brothers said?

Shu Yu sighed, ”But don’t worry, Grandmother, my mother is doing well. She knows you are thinking of her, and she will definitely live well in the future, so you can rest in peace. She’s now working at Yiren Pavilion, you know, the place that serves well-known figures in the city, they are full of praise for my mother’s skills. A piece of her clothing costs a few taels of silver on the low end, and a few dozen taels on the high end.”

”My mother used to lack confidence, thinking her skills weren’t up to par, and nobody ever praised the clothes she made. But it’s different now, she can make money with her clothing, and just counting her wages, she earns a few dozen taels a month.”

”It’s just that my father always says she’s working too hard and should rest more. If she needs money, my father can provide it. My father’s carpentry shop employs dozens of people, and they have work lined up until next year. He doesn’t worry about business, nor wages, so isn’t it easy for him to take care of my mother? Letting her enjoy bird’s nest soup every day isn’t hard at all, right? Moreover, my elder sister and I, we will both be filial to our mother.”

”So, Grandmother, don’t worry, my mother will live very well in the future.”

Shu Yu chatted on, but the people quietly listening on the side were left wide-eyed.

A monthly wage of a few dozen taels? Madam Ruan makes that much money making clothes now?

The Ruan family brothers’ eyes reddened; they don’t want much, just five taels a month would be enough. Really, just a bit from elder sister’s fingers would make a good life for them.

Shu Yu glanced at their reaction from the corner of her eye and mentally clicked her tongue, continuing to say to Old Lady Ruan, ”Grandmother, are you worried my mother will tire herself out? It’s nothing serious; we have servants at home, so my mother doesn’t need to wash clothes or cook. She loves making clothes, so she just makes clothes. If she’s tired, there are people who can massage her feet and serve meals to her. Without trivial chores, my mother is even more enthusiastic about tailoring. She often goes to the prefecture to see the popular styles, which gives her inspiration.”

”And you know what, my mother’s talent in tailoring is really quite good, fortunately, it hasn’t been buried. I plan to take her to the capital when I have time. Grandmother, you’ve never been to the capital, right? When my mother returns, let her visit your grave and tell you about it. Seeing her bright and refreshed, you’ll surely feel reassured.”
