The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu looked at her, and after a moment, his expression turned somber, ”Yes, you’re right. Earlier, when I saw Grandmother’s coffin, it was really plain. This cannot do. Even if the house she lived in during her lifetime wasn’t good, in death, she should have a comfortable place.”

Everyone was stunned, was she really planning to spend money?

Ruan quickly nodded, ”Yes, the county magistrate is right, then...”

”Here’s the thing, I can’t interfere too much with other matters, after all, I’m just a niece, not as close as your sons and grandsons. So, let me take care of the coffin.”

The Ruan brothers widened their eyes, it was surprisingly true, she was so generous.

Shu Yu turned and called out to Ying Xi, ”In a moment, have someone carry Grandmother out first, and then you, go get an axe and chop up this coffin.”

Everyone was shocked, ”County magistrate!”

Shu Yu raised her hand to silence everyone, and continued instructing Ying Xi, ”Then, go to the county town’s coffin shop and buy a coffin. Time is tight, so just buy it as you see fit. And yes, go to the coffin shop on the west side of town. I know the shopkeeper there, and they seem to have a buy-one-get-one-free deal going on. I think both coffins look quite nice, you can bring them both back, maybe someone else can use the other.”

Ying Xi almost burst out laughing, her lady was truly wicked.

The others gasped sharply, especially the Ruan brothers who turned pale instantly, what did she mean? Who buys two coffins at once, does she intend for one of them to accompany the old lady in burial?

This wasn’t their imagination running wild, it was Shu Yu’s previous actions that left them breathless.

They couldn’t believe she would really repay evil with good, preparing a high-quality coffin for the old lady.

Second Ruan hastily pulled his shivering wife aside, awkwardly smiling at Shu Yu, ”No need, no need to change it, my mother likes this coffin quite a lot. Plus, everything’s already set up, just needs to be nailed shut. Moving her back and forth would disturb the old lady.”

”Really?”

”Yes!” The Ruan brothers nodded firmly.

Shu Yu looked disappointed, ”I didn’t expect Grandmother to be so frugal, since she favors this one, it would be unfilial for me to change it on my own. Alright then, if that’s the case, let’s change to another matter.”

She looked at the Ruan brothers again, ”Is there anything else you need me to do?”

No! No! Nothing at all!

No one dared to involve her in anything else, spending money was not an option, neither was labor.

The Ruan brothers spoke begrudgingly, ”Everything else is almost done, just waiting to go up the mountain and bury her tomorrow.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Alright, if that’s the case, then I won’t meddle anymore, so as not to disrupt your plans.”

The Ruan brothers exhaled a long breath, ”Are you going back then?”

But Shu Yu shook her head, ”No, as I said, I’m here to fulfill my filial duty to my mother, of course, I must escort Grandmother on her final journey tomorrow. Today, I’ll stay in Ruan Family Village, it’s just...”

She raised her eyes to look at the courtyard in front of her, revealing a look of difficulty on her face.

But the others were even more troubled, the Ruan brothers almost choked at the thought, staying here??

Was she serious?

Even the always silent Village Chief Ruan frowned.

However, Shu Yu deliberately looked at him, ”I wonder if Village Chief Ruan knows if there’s a suitable place in Ruan Family Village for lodging. Originally, I could stay at Mrs. Xiang’s house, but her place hasn’t been lived in for a long time, without bedding or food supplies.”
