The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

This maneuver not only left Shu Yu stunned, but even his brother Ruan Chengchun was full of surprise, ”Second brother, what are you doing?”

Ruan Chengqian did not look at his brother, but respectfully knelt before Shu Yu, his voice deep, ”County magistrate, I wish to ask for your help, to take the position of village chief from Ruan Hai.”

Shu Yu, ”...” Well, that’s quite ambitious.

Ruan Chengchun wanted to say something, but Shu Yu raised a hand to stop him and instead asked with great interest, ”You want to be the village chief of Ruan Family Village?”

”Yes.”

Shu Yu thought deeply, if change were possible, by all means, Shu Yu would prefer it. He disliked this Ruan Hai very much.

Previously, he heard many of Ruan Hai’s vile deeds from Mrs. Xiang, but since there was no direct conflict with him, Shu Yu naturally did not interfere.

However, this time, although the Ruan brothers were indeed despicable with calculated motives, they lacked the courage to really act out. As they had planned, at most they would play the victim, hoping Madam Ruan would soften and give them some money.

If Madam Ruan did not soften, they would not dare to detain anyone.

But Ruan Hai was different; he was the one who suggested using force if persuasion failed. He aimed to exploit the Lu family’s reputation to threaten Madam Ruan. He evidently knew Madam Ruan’s weaknesses better and sought more benefits for himself, and those people in Ruan Family Village were also gathered by him.

Such a thing, if done once, can happen a second time.

If this attempt does not succeed and Ruan Hai does not get a lesson, it will definitely inflate his ego, and he will ponder a second attempt.

And the Ruan brothers will certainly be incited by him to continue causing trouble for his mother.

So this time, Shu Yu came not just to find the Ruan brothers, but the bigger purpose of staying overnight here was because of Ruan Hai.

It was purely accidental that she heard Ruan Chengqian’s request as soon as she wanted to learn more.

”I indeed can’t stand Village Chief Ruan, but even if I am the county magistrate, I do not have the authority to replace the village chief here. Not to mention, this is Ruan Family Village, the villagers are all related by blood, changing the village chief is not so easy.”

Ruan Chengqian spoke, ”Most villagers in Ruan Family Village are indeed related by blood, so if the village chief changes to someone of another surname, there will definitely be opposition, and it probably won’t succeed. Yet I remain a Ruan family clansman, making it much easier for the villagers to accept.”

As long as the person is not of another surname, the rejection in Ruan Family Village is minimal.

”Moreover, the villagers of Ruan Family Village do not all listen to Ruan Hai. Over the years, Ruan Hai has indeed cultivated a group of people loyal to him, but those people are relatively close to him. So whenever there is a benefit, they receive the most. Since some people profit, naturally some suffer losses. Ruan Hai always assists those he has familial bonds with over doing what’s right, and his bias is severe, leaving many in Ruan Family Village discontent with him.”

It’s just that the discontented ones are quite scattered; if gathered, they are enough to compete with Ruan Hai’s followers. Moreover, there are still a few people of other surnames in Ruan Family Village who are even more dissatisfied with Ruan Hai.

Ruan Family Village may unite against outside threats because they all share the same ancestry. But when it comes to internal conflict, how they choose sides is related to their own interests.

Shu Yu looked at Ruan Chengqian, he seemed to have had this idea for quite some time.

This man, appearing merely twenty-seven or eight years old, his eyes now burned with eager anticipation.

Shu Yu laughed, ”When did you start wanting to seize Ruan Hai’s position as village chief?”
