The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The Ruan family members were on the verge of collapsing. She hadn’t even finished speaking. Was she planning to narrate every detail of the good life the Lu family was leading now? Was she really not afraid that Old Lady Ruan would jump out of her coffin and come after her?

Of course, Shu Yu wasn’t afraid. She had a lot pent up in her heart.

”Ah, Grandma, why did you have to leave like this? At your age, you should have been enjoying life. Like my Grandmother, she doesn’t need to worry about anything anymore. I’ve even assigned a maid with exceptional massage skills to her side, to give her leg rubs when she’s tired from walking. She’s become quite prosperous now. On ordinary days, she just chats with the children and occasionally helps arrange marriages for suitable maids and servants in the family. Life is so leisurely.”

”Look at me, going off-topic. I just wanted to tell you, Grandma, that the one you cared most about, my Mother, will have a very comfortable life ahead. Her mother-in-law treats her like a daughter, her husband adores her, and the children are dutiful and successful. You might not know, but Ah Rui, oh, that’s Dahu, he’s changed his name to Ah Rui now. He’s been studying very hard these past few years, and the teacher said he could try for the child student exam next year. With Yun, the Top Scorer, tutoring him, I don’t think there will be any issues.”

”And Ah Ning, that’s Sanya, is now learning medicine with a teacher. She’ll definitely become a female doctor. Grandma, don’t dismiss our county town for not having a female doctor, because the prefecture has quite a few. I know a female doctor whose medical skills are top-notch, bought a house in the prefecture, and became a welcomed guest among wealthy ladies there—she’s doing really well.”

”As for my eldest sister, there’s nothing to worry about. Though her previous marriage wasn’t smooth, her current brother-in-law treats her very well. Plus, they have an incredibly adorable child. The child just learned to walk, chubby and lovable.”

”They couldn’t come to see you this time, but when they achieve great things in the future, I will bring them to Ruan Family Village to tell you the good news by your grave. Then, you can chat with Grandpa and see how successful your daughter’s family is, can’t you?”

Saying this, Shu Yu let out a long breath, ”Grandma, that’s all for today. Rest assured, whenever there’s something joyous in our family, we’ll come and let you know. Even though you’re no longer here, you can still be part of it—we will never forget you.”

She finally stood up, raising her eyes to look at the Ruan brothers, whose faces were as dark as dripping water, with a mournful expression, ”I know you’re busy and don’t need to accompany me here. How about this, if you have any work to be done, just let me know, and I’ll help.”

Who would dare let her do work—someone as precious as gold and jade—worried about her losing her voice or her knees hurting. If she got bumped or bruised in any way, they’d be in trouble.

Still, the Ruan family was forced to listen to her brag for so long, feeling both envious and jealous. They just couldn’t bear it.

Hadn’t she just boasted so much? If she couldn’t help physically, she could at least contribute financially, couldn’t she?

However, the Ruan brothers, who had encountered Shu Yu directly before, didn’t dare to speak up. It was their wives whose eyes darted around, and Ruan stepped forward, shaking off her husband’s hand pulling at her sleeve, speaking somewhat sarcastically, ”County magistrate, you can see, our family is poor. We even kept the old lady’s funeral very simple. Why don’t you fund it so that she can be sent off in style?”
