The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Ruan Chengqian spoke frankly, ”Back then, when he led the charge in bullying our brothers, almost leaving our family with nowhere to turn, I thought to myself that he was such an incompetent village chief and that someone else should take his place.”

To be honest, that was already seven years ago.

”It was just that at the time, my influence was weak, and I only dared to think about it inwardly. The real intention arose when Dali became the steward of Lu’s Workshop. Back then, many in the village started to be friendly to our family. Even though Ruan Hai sometimes spoke sarcastically, he didn’t dare to openly bully us. Even the elder of Ruan Family Village occasionally came to show concern for us.”

”Speaking of which, it was thanks to the county magistrate’s blessing. At that time, I realized that Ruan Hai’s position as village chief was not as secure as I had thought. Over the past two years, I’ve observed closely, and found that those truly close to Ruan Hai, who will always stand by him, are not many. The chance to pull him down is great, if I hadn’t met the county magistrate today, I probably would still need a few more years. If the county magistrate lends me a hand, now is the perfect time.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Stand up and speak first.”

Once Ruan Chengqian stood up, Shu Yu asked, ”How confident are you?”

”With the county magistrate, ninety percent.” Without, it might only be forty percent; even drawing a tie would be difficult.

”What do you need me to do?”

Ruan Chengqian said softly, ”I can handle the villagers myself, but the main issue is Ruan Hai’s good relationship with the town’s mayor. If the mayor stands by him, then I...”

Shu Yu nodded, ”I understand. You don’t need to worry about the mayor. But to bring Ruan Hai down without reason is also difficult. We always need to find some fault of his.”

”Right, I’ve been keeping an eye on things. But Ruan Hai acts cautiously. Even when he takes over the fertile land of other villagers, he always offers a bit of money, having people willingly sign the contract.” Speaking of this, Ruan Chengqian frowned tightly.

The main issue was he didn’t expect the county magistrate to come today, and he had no preparation at all.

Shu Yu thought for a moment, ”What about his neighbors?” The matter of Village Chief Ruan making advances towards her mother was revealed to Mrs. Xiang by Ruan Hai’s neighbor.

Ruan Chengqian nodded, ”I understand the county magistrate’s intention. Ruan Hai’s neighbors do pay attention to their family, but what they hear is mostly trivial. Even when they hear some of their schemes by chance, there’s no evidence.”

At this moment, Ruan Chengchun, who had been quietly listening to the two talk, suddenly spoke, ”Perhaps, perhaps there is someone who can help us?”

”Who?”

Shu Yu and Ruan Chengqian both looked at him.

Ruan Chengchun swallowed, ”Ruan Hai’s younger daughter-in-law.”

Ruan Chengqian, ”Ms. Lou?”

”Yes.”

Shu Yu was not too familiar with the Ruan family, ”What about Ms. Lou?”

”The county magistrate doesn’t know, but even though Ms. Lou is Ruan Hai’s younger daughter-in-law, her life has been particularly difficult since marrying into his family. The Lou Family is also from Ruan Family Village, but Ms. Lou’s grandfather came out of the mountains, and settled alone in the village. Hence, by the time it got to Ms. Lou’s father’s generation, they were a small family without relatives or anyone to support them.”

Shu Yu understood, settling down in Ruan Family Village without any support, and coincidentally encountering the likes of Ruan Hai’s family; even if Ms. Lou is bullied, she likely has no one to turn to for help.

”Tell me more about Ms. Lou’s situation.”

”Yes.”
