The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Xiao Ruojun responded with an ’Mm’, ”He came a few days ago, saying that the capital’s issues have been mostly resolved. My parents are well, and the Eldest Uncle who tried to poison us has already been beheaded. It’s about time for me to go back.”

Shu Yu was aware of these matters. In the past half year, the capital had returned to order.

During the rebellion of the Second and Third Princes, although Xiao Ruojun and her parents were from the Xiao Family, the clues provided by Xiao Ruojun were very important. The Xiao Family parents cooperated with Wei Nan to confuse the Xiao Family members, playing a crucial role in it.

Not only were they without fault, they actually had credit. Presumably, the Emperor would reward them based on their merits.

However, they are still from the Xiao Family, and secretly there must be many rumors against them.

But anyway, their family can finally be reunited.

”When are you leaving?”

Xiao Ruojun exhaled lightly, ”Tomorrow.”

”So soon?”

”Yes, I went to Dongqing Temple before and bid farewell to Daoist Nun Qiu as well. Today, I came to the Lu family to thank you all for taking care of me for so long. Unfortunately, you weren’t there, and I didn’t know when you’d be back, so I could only ask your grandmother to pass on my message. Luckily, I still managed to meet you. Otherwise, I would have regretted it.”

Shu Yu replied, ”No regrets. Anyway, Yunzheng will be participating in the Imperial Examination next year, and I’m likely to go to the capital. Then, I’ll visit you at the Xiang Family, and we can catch up.”

Who would have guessed that upon hearing these words, Xiao Ruojun suddenly fell silent.

Shu Yu noticed something seemed off about her expression, and slightly furrowed her brow, ”What’s wrong?”

Xiao Ruojun let out a bitter laugh, holding the teacup in her hands, her fingers slightly tightening and turning pale.

After a while, she exhaled lightly and looked up, saying, ”Next year, I might not be in the capital.”

”Why not?”

Xiao Ruojun’s smile seemed somewhat vague, though she was smiling, there was no trace of joy in her eyes.

She said quietly, ”After I return, I’ll be proposing a divorce to my husband. After that, I plan to take my parents and leave the capital to live elsewhere.”

Shu Yu was startled, ”Divorce? Divorce Wei Nan?”

”Yes.” Upon saying that, Xiao Ruojun’s expression suddenly relaxed, and she looked at Shu Yu, ”You know, this marriage was something I forced upon myself. I always thought if I stayed by his side, he would eventually like me. My thoughts back then were indeed naive, and I once considered making things difficult for you because of his special attitude towards you.”

Reflecting on it now, Xiao Ruojun felt she was quite reprehensible.

”But having gone through so much and almost losing my life, I’ve finally come to my senses. During that period, living in the backyard of Dongqing Temple, listening to the chanting every day, eating simple meals, chatting with the Daoist nuns, planting vegetables, and watering with them, I even learned to catch bugs. In my free time, reading books and writing, later on, at the manor, I maintained these habits. Over time, my mindset became very peaceful, and naturally, I’ve come to many realizations.”

Shu Yu could tell that the present Xiao Ruojun was indeed a different person compared to when they first met.

But, divorce?

”I think Lord Xiang won’t agree. Even if Wei Nan doesn’t like Xiao Ruojun, once he has married her, he would take responsibility for a lifetime.”

Especially now that the Xiao Family has declined, Xiao Ruojun no longer has a backing, Wei Nan is even less likely to abandon her at this time.
