The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Xiao Ruojun knew exactly what Nanny Gu was thinking. She smiled, ”Sooner or later I have to go back, besides, I miss my parents too.”

”You could bring Lord and Madam over, it would be a good chance to get away from those rumors in the capital and relax here,” Nanny Gu suggested.

Xiao Ruojun shook her head, ”My father was poisoned in the Xiao Family before and his body is terribly frail. There’s no need for him to undertake such a long journey to this distant place.”

Even if she and Xiang Weinan were to part ways in the future, she would not take her parents too far from the capital. Father Xiao has been bedridden for a long time, and not to mention anything else, the change in water and soil from the north to the south is already very taxing on the body.

”But...”

Nanny Gu was about to say something when Xiao Ruojun saw Shu Yu running out from the courtyard.

She walked to the side of the carriage, preventing Xiao Ruojun from getting off, and directly handed her a pouch.

”This is for you.”

Xiao Ruojun was taken aback and opened it to take a look, ”A safety talisman?”

”Yes, I know you lack nothing else. This is to bless you with peace and smoothness in the future.”

Xiao Ruojun tightened her grip on the pouch. In fact, she had several safety talismans in her hands. When she was staying in the back courtyard of Dongqing Temple, she would go to the grand hall to pray for her parents’ health when there were fewer temple visitors, buying safety talismans from the Daoist nun each time with the thought of bringing them back for her parents.

However, this one was Shu Yu’s heartfelt gesture, and she would take good care of it.

As if knowing her thoughts, Shu Yu explained, ”This safety talisman is different from the others. My master, the Dongqing Temple master, personally prayed for it, and it’s better than those from the temple.”

Xiao Ruojun was stunned, and Nanny Gu beside her had her eyes lit up. Since it was given by the Dongqing Temple master, it was truly a treasure.

”Thanks,” Xiao Ruojun carefully put it away.

As time was getting late, Shu Yu didn’t say much more and waved, ”Safe travels, take care.”

”You take care too, goodbye.”

Xiao Ruojun lowered the curtain, and the carriage slowly moved forward, until it disappeared at the corner of Fenghuai Street.

Shu Yu stood at the door for a long time, a familiar voice came from beside her, ”Left already?”

Shu Yu turned her head, looked at the old lady, and smiled, ”Yes, she wants to leave the city before the gate closes, so she didn’t stay for dinner, she asked me to apologize to Grandmother.”

”No need for apologies. You came back to reunite with us, she is going back to reunite with her family, it’s a good thing, we naturally can’t stop her.”

Reunite, huh? Shu Yu smiled, ”Yes, it’s a good thing.”

She linked arms with the old lady as they turned to go back into the house, changing the topic, ”Grandmother, have you finished talking with Ah Rui and the others?”

”What is there to talk about? They were chattering on and soon started arguing, giving me a headache.” Despite her words, the old lady looked quite happy.

No matter how noisy the children are, it’s always joyful when they’re home.

She said to Shu Yu, ”Your parents, and Ah You, Ah Ning, they are all busy at the shop, I have already sent someone to inform them, they will be back soon.”

Needless to say, Lu Erbai and Madam Ruan, one is in the carpenter shop, the other in the tailoring room in Liufang Alley, both busy every day.

Shuyou has returned home with the children. After all, Zhao Xi has bought a house, and there are servants at home; she can’t stay at her mother’s place forever. But the distances are not far, especially since Zhao Xi’s house is close to Lu Erbai’s carpenter shop. They can meet anytime, so it’s not much different from before getting married.
