The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Even those passersby who knew the reasons would morally coerce them with the saying ’debts die with the dead.’

Madam Ruan is quite old now, and her life is not troubled by food or shelter, so it doesn’t matter.

However, the lives of a few children are just beginning, what if they are affected?

If attending the funeral could erase everything, then she would go once.

After listening, the old lady frowned, then decisively waved her hand, ”No, there’s no point in going. You, you just overthink, worrying about this and that; how can everything be perfectly managed in this world? Although your idea isn’t wrong, if you go, others might think our family is easy to bully. Old Lady Ruan did so many bad things, just because she’s dead, should we forgive her? No way, I am petty, I won’t forgive.”

She had an unapologetically blunt demeanor, ”Anyway, I have seniority; if anyone asks, just say it was me who didn’t allow it. You are juniors, not listening to me is being unfilial. If anyone has a problem, let them come to me.”

Madam Ruan helplessly said, ”Mother, I understand, I won’t go.”

”Hmm, let the second son know about it later, so he doesn’t stay in the dark.”

”Alright.”

Madam Ruan spoke a few more words with the old lady, then got up and left.

Compared to her previously worried demeanor when entering, she now seemed at ease.

Just as she planned to return to her own courtyard, she noticed two people sitting by the pavilion, drinking tea and eating melon seeds.

Approaching closer, Madam Ruan recognized them as Shu Yu and Ying Xi.

”Yu? Sitting here feeding mosquitoes at this hour?”

”I’m waiting for you, Mother.” Shu Yu came out from the pavilion, walked over, and took her arm with a smile, ”Earlier during dinner, I noticed you seemed troubled, so I waited here for you.”

Madam Ruan patted Shu Yu on the back of her hand, ”There was something I couldn’t decide on before, but it’s settled now.”

”What kind of problem did you encounter, Mother?”

Now that the decision was made, Madam Ruan didn’t intend to hide it and told her about Old Lady Ruan’s passing.

Shu Yu was quite surprised, ”Passed away? How did she die?”

”I didn’t ask much in detail, just heard from a cousin that she passed due to illness.”

Passed due to illness?

Shu Yu understood, and heard Madam Ruan say, ”Our family has long cut ties with them, we won’t have any dealings in the future, so it’s unrelated to us.” The implication was that she wouldn’t go to send off Old Lady Ruan.

Seeing Madam Ruan’s calm demeanor, Shu Yu didn’t say much more, just nodded and accompanied her back to her room.

When she came out again, she said to Ying Xi, ”Tomorrow, go find out what illness Old Lady Ruan died from.”

”Yes, Miss.”

Ying Xi was quick; she returned after noon the next day.

Not only did she bring back precise news, but she also brought the diagnosis results from the doctor who treated Old Lady Ruan.

Shu Yu looked them over; there were two diagnostic sheets, the first one mentioning a lack of appetite, liver qi stagnation, and heart qi stagnation, simply saying she was often angry.

The latter sheet detailed it more explicitly, mentioning a lump under the armpit, hard texture, local pain, emaciation, and fatigue.

The doctor prescribed medicine, but it didn’t have much effect.

Looking at the two diagnosis results thoughtfully, if she remembered correctly, the symptoms on the latter seemed like breast cancer.
