The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu didn’t expect this to be related to her, ”What does this have to do with me?”

”Didn’t the boss reward us with two taels of silver yesterday? On my way back, I passed by the silver shop, saw that the door was still open, so I went in and bought a bracelet, and gave it to my wife when I got home. She was so happy, treated me really well, and even...” The marital life that night was particularly harmonious.

Jiang Fengshou stopped mid-sentence, realizing that Shu Yu was a single woman, he couldn’t say things like that, so he immediately switched the topic, saying, ”The boss wouldn’t know, in the past few months since I left Liu Family’s shop, I hadn’t found a job, and had no money. I couldn’t even buy things for my wife, my elder brother and sister-in-law gave me tough looks every day, and my wife suffered with me, life was really difficult.”

After leaving the Liu Family, he hadn’t found a suitable job.

It’s not that he couldn’t find one, but he wasn’t sure if other shops would be like Liu Family’s. Before things settled down, he was afraid of getting caught up in the troubles and dragging his family into it.

He not only didn’t look for work, he rarely even went out.

Though he seemed a bit unreliable, he was actually very cautious in his actions.

But as a result, he faced scorn from his elder brother and sister-in-law, who accused him of being idle all day, cold words every day, this continued until recently when he was hired by the boss as the shopkeeper.

After confirming that Jiang Fengshou was the choice for the shopkeeper, Shu Yu looked into his family background.

Jiang Fengshou has an elder brother and sister; after the sister got married, it was just the brothers and their parents at home.

The Jiang family’s house was bought by Grandpa Jiang, who was very fond of the eldest brother, showing a lot of favoritism, and before he died, he announced in front of everyone that the house would go to the eldest brother.

The reason Jiang Fengshou turned out this shameless and thick-skinned was largely due to his family of origin.

Except for the married sister who still cared for him, everyone else favored the elder brother. When Jiang Fengshou was young, he did many foolish things to get his family’s attention, but later gave up, and his feelings for them grew distant.

When he resigned from Liu’s, the excuse was that his father was sick and needed care. But he didn’t actually feel much for Father Jiang, who, though not as extreme as Grandpa Jiang, paid more attention to the elder son.

Even in treating the two grandchildren, there was a significant difference.

Fortunately, Jiang Fengshou was quite ambitious, making some money early on as a peddler, which made his family less daring in treating him poorly. Later, after getting married and having a child, Jiang Fengshou stopped traveling around and worked hard to become the shopkeeper of Liu’s Grocery Store.

Despite this, he didn’t actually have much money. The money for marrying and having a child was earned by himself, and he had to give some to his parents. His elder brother claimed the house was his and said they needed to pay rent to live there.

If it weren’t for his strong personality, he would probably be like most men these days, handing over all money to the parents before the family split.

He wanted to split the family, but his wife disagreed.

Even though Jiang Fengshou’s reputation wasn’t great in front of the neighbors, his wife wanted to salvage it a bit, especially since he was now the shopkeeper; if the parents and brother caused trouble, the boss would definitely not keep him.

Luckily, with Jiang Fengshou being the shopkeeper, having a stable income source, his status in the family was high. The parents and elder brother and sister-in-law, besides trying to trick some money from him now and then, didn’t dare to do much to their family.
